Vick In Airport Water Bottle Incident

Container held for further review after possible pot residue found

JANUARY 18--Miami police are investigating NFL star Michael Vick after airport screeners yesterday seized a water bottle from him at a security checkpoint and later discovered that the bottle included a "concealed compartment" that appeared to contain a small amount of marijuana. According to a Miami-Dade Police Department report, a copy of which you'll find below, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was "reluctant to turn over his water bottle during the screening process" at Miami International Airport (the athlete was booked on an AirTran flight to Atlanta). Vick subsequently relinquished the 20-ounce Aquafina bottle, which was placed in a recycling bin by a Transportation Security Administration screener. Suspicious as to why Vick hesitated in handing over the bottle, TSA screener Gertrude Joseph retrieved the bottle, notified her supervisor, and brought the item to the TSA operations center. There, officials discovered that the bottle's label "contained a seam which separated the top and the bottom of the bottle. Both ends were sealed by clear partitions and what appeared to be a silicone sealant." The concealed compartment, the report notes, contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with Marijuana." It appears that Vick had departed to Atlanta before the screeners had finished analyzing his water bottle, which was transported to the Miami-Dade Police Department lab for analysis. Following the 2002 arrests of members of a Miami-based Ketamine ring, Drug Enforcement Administration agents pointed out a "new smuggling trick" being used by traffickers: Aquafina water bottles outfitted with "a hidden compartment for drugs." where do we start... Team Owner, Coach, Sponsers (Nfl, Falcons and Vicks), probably some team mates, fans, parents of children who are falcons fans and vick fans...

I may have missed a few... but yeah, it's illegal, it has a negative effect on the brain and for a player who's knock is he can't handle an offense, a guy who's still touted as one of the best athletes in the league, but can't read a defense..

yeah, it means a lot.

Atlanta has a new coach, and a backup QB that could start on a lot of teams... wouldn't be shocked to see Vick in a deal to Oakland, probably over paying with multiple round 1 picks (just guessing because of how Al Davis operates).

I get the feeling the Bears are just sitting back and waiting. Not saying one word. Flying under the radar and come tommorow, they're gunna pounce on New Orleans so hard. Thats just the feeling i get. No one is talking about the Bears.

If they don't press any charges the new cycle will probably be less then that. What pushed this one was the imediate statement by (I forget if it was the owner or the team president) but it condemed him a guilty before anything had been decided. Rather then the usual "we'll wait and see the findings" it was a "he let this organization down" etc...

That being said, even once the "new cycle" is over, it will effect endorsment deals, also I would assume if they report it was weed, I'd expect a 1st time offense 4-game suspension from the nfl.

This type of thing always gets more negative attention than it deserves though. I assume Vick will have a 4-game suspension like VEL said.

Lol, if Vick is out four games that is going to fuck up Petrino's start there, since he is apparently designing their offense specifically around him... Oops.

But yeah, I think something like this will stick around with Vick for a long time. Not a huge deal, but it is a stigma that will follow him, the stoner who can't read a defense.

Pats v. Colts
From the limited amount of time I've seen the Colts play recently, I've noticed their defense has been playing well. In some strange way the offense (more so Peyton, has been sputtering, and when I say that I mean not typical Peyton Manning) while the defense has been nuts. On the other hand, the Patriots are just something to behold. They just show up in the playoffs, period. They're well coached and it shows. They just go out and win ball games. I really can't predict this one, I think its going to be a hell of a game.

Saints v. Bears
Saints are flying high right now (no lie, they're ballllllinnnn) I was glad to see them beat the Eagles in a close game. Shows they can fight it out in a close one. The Bears also stuck it out against the Hawks. I think this game is going to be a good one. Its all going to be who lands that huge knockout blow (or inversely, makes the inoppurtune mistake) I think the Saints will be able to put up points on the weakened Bears D, but I also think that if Grossman plays halfway decent the Bears will be able to match that. I think this one is going to be real good.

Superbowl
No matter who goes out of the 4 teams, I think the game is going to better than a lot of people expect. The general consensus, it seems, is that the AFC is going to kill the NFC. I don't think thats the case. I think if the Patriots go, they will win, purely because they've been there multiple times and experience gives them an edge. I think the Saints have a better shot than the Bears if they made it to the Superbowl. I think right now the Bears are the weakest link, Patriots the strongest, with the Saints and Colts close in the middle. My ideal matchup would be the Saints v. Pats or the Colts, so long as the Bears don't go.

Back to the Samardzjida topic from last page, Sidney Rice is another top WR, I'd probably take him over Samardzjida. Collegefootballnews has it's first mock draft up, and they have like five WR's in the first round, so it probably wasn't as bright for him as this thread alluded to.

It has Dwayne Jarrett being taken like 10th and Ginn going like 20th though, which I don't see happening. It also has the Vikings taking Adrian Peterson.

You cant even measure Rex Grossmans horribleness on regulation scales. I mean, i think 99% of NFL offensive lineman complete that TD pass in the back of the endzone. Ethan Allbright completes that pass.
