Ron Atkinson was at the centre of new allegations of racism today after being accused of insulting Chinese women.

Atkinson was speaking to more than 250 people at a fund-raising event at Sheffield Wednesday, one of his former clubs.

It is claimed he sparked outrage at the event on Thursday after telling the
audience: ``The Chinese people have the best contraception in the world - but I can't understand why there's so many of them because their women are so ugly.''

However Atkinson defended himself today, telling the Sheffield Star: ``I cannot believe anyone has complained about anything I said. I went there to help them out and to raise money. I stayed for ages and did photographs.

``I can't believe this - I just can't believe this.

``I can't say anything now. I've been ultra-careful about everything. It was an easy evening and everyone enjoyed themselves.''

Atkinson was forced to resign from his role as ITV's football analyst in April last year after calling Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly a ``f****** lazy n****r``.

Atkinson, 65, also lost his job as a pundit for the Guardian in the storm which followed his off-air comments after Chelsea lost 3-1 to Monaco in a Champions League semi-final.

A spokesman for football's anti-racism campaign Kick It Out said: ``This stuff is poisonous really. Essentially he really doesn't understand what he is doing in making these comments. They are deeply offensive.

``He seems to be consistently insulting about people because of their race. In this day and age you cannot make jokes about race.''

Get in there, Connolly is the man. Rest of the team didn't play too great to be honest so hopefully that's a good sign. First time i'd seen De Vries as he came on for the last 20 and showed some good touches, had a header go just wide.

Watched the 2nd half of the Southampton game at the ground cause it was on near the bars and things, Liverpool were pretty poor but Southampton did nothing, must have been a different game first half.

I'll tell you what couldn't have been worse mate, your fans.

Fucking hell, anyone care to disagree that Portsmouth fans have been aweful this season? Seriously, maybe it has been since Arry left that they have realised they will go into a downhill slump, but they were the worst fans we have had here this season, mind you, Arsenal are yet to visit.

We always take the piss out of the away fans and hope they do it back for some banter, but the Pompey fans wouldn't respond so we had to take the piss out of the security gaurds that look like Harry Potter and Robbie Svage.

Cheers Palmerot, I honestly think that Robben would have gone down when the Pompey defender made the slide challenge in the box for the first goal, and possibly when Ashdown clipped his leg too. Palmerot seems to have motivated him to prove that he doesn't always dived, mind you, from where I was it looked like a dive for the free kick.

Pompey should have had a penalty and how the ref didn't see it is understandable as he was in a bad position, but for MOTD not to show it is abit odd. the ball was falling for Yakubu and Gallas knocked it out the way with his hand and then cleared it.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting anything from this game, we didn't get anything. So im not disapointed. The first 2 goals were just down to Robben's sheer class and it looked like Ashdown was unsighted for the freekick. We had a couple of chances and didn't take them, so fair play. From what I saw on Match of the Day, most of the stuff you created in the 2nd half came when you hit us on the break with Duff after we had commited men forward, but luckily you didn't score again.

Check Rajah's, I am not trying to cause you to bite, it's my honest opinion. and if your fans can't sing because Westwood isn't there then you are a joke.

After about 70 minutes we started singing 'we forgot that you were here' to your fans, wanna know why? Because they are the quietest fans we have had all season, they all sat their in silence. The stand that Westwood sits in at your home ground is the only one with atmosphere, the rest of your fans have turned to shit.

I can't be bothered checking Rajah's. In the time it takes me to read one page of posts, theres already like 3 more pages for me to read and that Keano's Magic Hat or whatever guy was a twat.

And i've already told you on MSN, it was quiet because we were losing 3-0 and you were knocking it around like it was a practice match, your stewards were nazis and the general mood in the Pompey camp right now is pretty low due to the constant rumours that all our players are about to be sold, its bollocks but its getting everyone down. As soon as the transfer window closes and we all know whats happening, it'll be back.

And yes, the Fratton End generates most of the atmosphere but the North Stand isn't that bad either. The South Stand and Milton End are dead though.

No, it wasn't even just at 3-0, even at 2-0, and I have alrad told you Leeds fans are better then yours, and its true, they sing when they are 6-1 down to a shit team like Pompey, if thats what your support is always like this year then it must be twice as bad as it is for most teams, at least arsenal fans get to see a good team play every week, despite the shit atmosphere.

Gerrard needs to get the hell out of Liverpool NOW.

We are an absolute shambles, and to be honest, there is no excuse for it. We just seem to be completely incapable of anything. For ages in the past 2 seasons, all we did was hoof the ball forward for the midgets to get nowhere, now that we have someone who can win the ball in the air (and Morientes was doing a bloody good job of it when he got the chance) we're playing it on the ground. Every single one of our players wasted a pass today. Pellegrino and Hyppia were a shambles, Carragher is fantastic, but he needs to be in the centre. Riise needs to play at Left Back, because he at least has some pace. If we're so low on players, we should try and convert Pongolle into a winger, because whenever he got given the ball, he looked like he could do something. Our biggest problem seems to be that none of our players look up. Baros is fucking awesome, but because he doesn't look up, he doesn't pass the ball.

Time for Rafa to seriously look at a number of positions. We need another Left Back, We need another Right Back, We need another Central Defender. We need someone to play alongside Gerrard, we need 2 wingers. I don't care if he just brings a couple of players on loan until the end of the season, we need to do something. Cover in defence and someone to play alongside Carragher next season, someone with a bit of pace who can win it in the air, I see no harm in at least taking a serious look at Michael Dawson, because he must be better Pellegrino. We could probably put a bid in for Andy Reid as well. Just some grit....some British players, cos right now, we're gonna lose Gerrard, we aren't gonna get into Europe and worst of all, we'll finish behind both Man U and Everton.

We do need someone alonmgside Gerrard, we need Xabi Alonso back. I agree that Pongolle looked good on the wing. Baros is fucking awesome and he does need to look up more. I think his partnership with Morientes could be awesome. Get old man Pellegrino out the team and put Crragher back in the centre.
