To be fair, Amazon is pretty useless to us Canadians, as they don't ship here. We have Amazon.ca, which is just awful.

But Crash is awesome. Hopefully they'll have seperate playlists to only play on the new maps, instead of just inserting them into the normal ones.

My local video rental place had the same deal for one day only last week. Jumped all over that even thought I had just bought a three month subscription.

Also don't think 15 bucks is too much for 5 maps, when we paid ten for 3 last go around.

Been seeing this argument a lot. In the COD4 map pack, Chinatown was just a reskinned COD2 map, and I think I played Killhouse like once ever since it was in like no playlists. So $10 for 2 brand new maps, one rehash, and one that rarely gets played vs. $15 for 3 brand new maps and 2 of the best maps from COD4. Not too bad.

One other problem, are the maps bug and glitch free before they put them out? Equipped the nuke last night, some fucker found me at 24 kills while I was using the chopper gunner

Yes, in a huge game like Modern Warfare 2, it's probably really really simple to check for every single possible exploit and/or error in code. No problems there.

Seriously, I think I hate the bitching about glitches more than anything else about COD's community. Fuck's sake. Despite the cries of horror from the message boards, not a single glitch for this game as been even close to gamebreaking. If there was something that like caused the game to lock up and killed your hard drive or something, then yes, complain. But Javelindom? Infinite Care Packages? Big fucking deal. And it's even more asinine when you take into account the fact that that shit gets easily and quickly patched. But people want instant gratification, and if it takes more than a week to get something fixed, it's "OMG INFINITY WARD SUCKS THEY MADE SUCH AN UBER BROKEN GAME!!!!". Go ahead, keep ignoring the fact that it's a deep, addicting, gorgeous. and above all else, FUN game, and focus on the programmers missing a handful (yes that's right-HANDFUL) of glitches, that are quickly fixed once discovered. Come on.

There are many known glitches/hacks/cheats that they havent fixed or took their sweet time doing something about.

I dont see that changing if they had us pay a subscription fee either, hell knowing them they might even start charging us for the goddamn patch.

I love playing the game, what I dont love is playing on an uneven battlefield where some loser who sucks at the game has to ruin it for the other people playing.

I honestly dont and will never understand why someone has to cheat in an online game, I mean what do you accomplish? Your e-cock is a little bigger? Who are you going to show it to, people who cheat along with you?

It pisses me off to no end that people who do cheat, have nothing done to them whatsoever. It ruins the quality of play and when they ask you to pay above and beyond the cost of the game after that it really fucking pisses me off.

Nor will I. That's not the point though. It will happen, in any online game. Anonymity+distance=assholes. It's sad but true. It's not Infinity Ward's fault that people are idiots.

I agree totally and am happy we are on the same page, but it would be better if they did something about it BEFORE the game came out.

Have betas, have playtesters TRYING to find glitches and things before they put the game out on the market.

I am sure with a couple hundred hours of play among a dozen people they could easily find alot of the bugs in the game

I cant believe for a second that you only ever encountered one glitcher as I am sure you played during teh care package hell, tell me you didnt see Usain Bolt running around the map knifing people or air support from about 15 seconds in until the match ended or killing someone and not seeing a killcam because of the javelin glitch.

I know no penalty is doled out, but look at the sales of this game.

(I checked today its 1400 points for 19.99 so around $18 for the maps)

But at $18 a pop for say half of the games sold (and Im being generous as closer to 80% will likely get it)

That would be $18 x 7,500,000 copies (It sold 7.5 in the first day, so I am being more then fair here)

Which works out to be $135 million dollars. Seeing as 2 maps are pre-existing, the profit per map is $45 million each

idk.. I would give them more slack if they weren't owned/funded by a company with virtually limitless resources. Not harping on them for releasing maps that may or may not be buggy, as testing only does so much. But in general, I feel things could have been speedier, or they could have at least issued some sort of apology to their customers for taking so long with fixing glitches that were literally ruining the game experience for a while.

While the glitches didn't break the game, they made it completely lack fun for several weeks, nearing a month or better, while people ran rampant getting infinite care packages (and I would argue that that WAS a game-breaking glitch). The game went from "Hey that emblem is cool, how did you get it?" to "I bet you boosted to get that emblem", as well as countless people nuke boosting in FFA, or riot shield boosting all the time. Hell, I stopped playing FFA, which was one of my favorite gametypes, because every other game had nuke boosters in it. And that CAN be prevented by Infinity Ward.

May not seem like a huge deal to you, but companies CAN hotfix things pretty quickly, and a company like Infinity Ward should have had no problems allocating resources to fixing the problems in the game. Exactly my point, its not like they dont have the resources to test or fix whats found. The care package glitch really ruined games for the longest while and there was really no way to stop it as even killing the person doing it didnt stop the non-ending onslaught.

While the glitches didn't break the game, they made it completely lack fun for several weeks, nearing a month or better, while people ran rampant getting infinite care packages (and I would argue that that WAS a game-breaking glitch). The game went from "Hey that emblem is cool, how did you get it?" to "I bet you boosted to get that emblem", as well as countless people nuke boosting in FFA, or riot shield boosting all the time. Hell, I stopped playing FFA, which was one of my favorite gametypes, because every other game had nuke boosters in it. And that CAN be prevented by Infinity Ward.

Just want to point out that if you look at the top of the leaderboards in the game you wont see any skilled players there at all.

May not seem like a huge deal to you, but companies CAN hotfix things pretty quickly, and a company like Infinity Ward should have had no problems allocating resources to fixing the problems in the game. That said, I am glad they fixed the game at least. I think they did it just in time to prevent a mass exodus away from their game, but it didn't really scream "We care about our players".

Also important to note that I think they can do whatever they want. If they don't want to patch a game right away, then that's their prerogative. But if they want any respect from their paying customers, or if they want people to pay the price they're asking for DLC (which I personally don't find outrageous, although higher than I would rather), then they need to give their customers a reason to.

They had an internal beta. and of course they have playtesters. That's the fucking purpose of playtesters. It's a huge, intricate game, and they're only human. Stuff will slip through the cracks.

lol it's the truth buddy. The only glitcher I ever saw was using Javelindom, and I saw him doing it, and never got killed by it. I never noticed the care package glitch. Not saying it didn't happen to me, but I didn't notice it (and I'd assume I would've, considering how OMGWTF GAMEBREAKING it was). The speed thing, nope, unless you're talking about M/L/C, which is not a glitch at all.

Every single game has glitches and possible hacks. The more popular a game is, the more are going to pop up, as there are more people looking for them. And this is the most popular game ever.

I don't really fault IW for this, as playtesting, no matter how many people are on the job, is never 100% foolproof.

Also, the first day the CP glitch became well-known, it was literally all I saw in I'd guess 80% of the games I played, regardless of gametype.

I watched countless people do it on my own team, and saw no end to it from the other teams. Over. And over. And over. And over.

A friend and I played for a few hours one day. We'd back out after the game was over, if CP glitching was going on. Next game we would join, would have it. If we found a game that didn't have it going on, we'd play one.. give it a game or two, and someone would be doing it again. THAT, is how bad it got. This was 'about' the time I started getting into hardcore too, and while it wasn't nearly as bad, I'd say about 1 out of every 3 hardcore games I went into had CP glitching going on.

They didn't nerf lightweight. They fixed the care package's weight. Lightweight didn't get slower with anything else.

Because the combination of Lightweight, and a Care Package (marathon was just so you could run forever.. had nothing to do with the glitch), returned the incorrect speed results. It made you run faster than you should have. The developers said this in their patch notes when they finally fixed it.

How you run while holding a care package and lightweight NOW, is how it was supposed to be.

It was similar to how if you equipped 1887s, FMJ + Akimbo, glitched the range on the shotguns and gave them an ungodly range. It wasn't that the 1887's were overpowered necessarily. It was just broken/glitched.

Well, that's how the care package running was. It wasn't meant to make you run like the flash and make it IMPOSSIBLE for someone to knife you (tactical knife or not). But that combination of things made it happen.

Yes, things should slip through the cracks, as it makes since that they should in a game this large but how did they miss such simple things as the javelin glitch/care package glitch/care package run glitch

It's worth noting that even though IW has all that money, it's not free to run game servers 24/7 like that. They have to maintain somehow.

Nah they did nerf light weight way back around the first month or so after release. Dropped it from a 10% increase in speed to a 7% or something.

Also I hated the Care package running bastards more than anyone, but I wouldn't say it was a glitch, more like an exploit people whored like crazy.

Thats why I only play for little spurts, I get pissed that I have to keep paying for it and quit until someone entices me to play again. I have quit again and unlikely to start again.

I didnt pay for either expansion, but thats beside the point.

Its not like they just rehashed the whole starting area and added it in, this add ALOT of new shit when they add an expansion you must admit.

Yeah, completely understand that.

However at $60 or more a pop for about 20 million copies, I doubt they are anywheres near short on money.

They also charge more for that content in store, and charge a monthly fee to help maintain the costs of running those servers and for patching the game.

That's what I'm getting at. How can you justify paying a monthly fee (you still ARE paying a monthly fee, regardless of if you don't do it constantly), but not just SLIGHTLY more (ONCE, no less, possibly twice if more content is released later) for some content and to help with the cost of maintaining such a game.
