I'm very glad I watched "The Ninth Configuration" before I saw this film. The midway switch from comedy to surreal drama is pretty amazing.

The Art Of Self Defense - 3/4
This was a lot of fun, and a lot of WTF. Kept me guessing. |

I have Jojo Rabbit and Vivarium on my Prime watchlist; I'm waiting until they get a bit cheaper before renting.

Aquaman- 7/10 its good. 2nd best dc movie fairly easily. The script has some real issues mostly around having waaaaaaay too much to do. Several arcs resolve one scene apart. Film is ultra rushed. Also suffers from an overuse of sets even for "exteriors" and when they actually go on location theyre forced to use this wierd vasalene filter to keep a visual consistency. That said the characters shine bright and the action is among the best in the genre. Some of the jokes dont land but its enjoyable throughout and its world building (albiet very rushed) pays off in a satifying way. Last edited by Destor; 06-14-2020 at 01:32 PM. |

Careful research shows that Destor rated Wonder Woman 9/10, so I guess that.

I liked Aquaman more myself. Wonder Woman was great though.... and I admit nothing in Aquaman gives me goosebumps like the no man's land scene in Wonder Woman.

I thought it was a lot of good fun, but at the same time incredibly frustrating for choosing to make the little girl character Cassandra Cain.... but probably the majority of "casual fans" don't really care about that.
I'd watch it again. |

The Hunt 7/10
A group of liberal elite hunt a group of "deplorables" (i.e people who would vote for the Republicans). Pretty much takes the piss out of both groups of people. If you leave your brain at the door, its a decent watch. |

Watching "Undercover Brother".
I am going to round up all of the comedy movies from the 90's/00's that had a major release but I never had a chance to see. Sadly a lot of these films will have a 5. rating on IMDB... |

Finally watched Aquaman.
It veered into Romcom territory almost too much with the scenes in the Sahara (the visuals for that were awful) and Sicily, but it was pretty good overall. My score: 8/10 Wife’s score: 8/10 |

Watching a Lovecraftian horror called "Underwater".
It is astonishingly mediocre, I can't believe that the person who filmed this did so deliberately. This has to be an editing hatchet job. That doesn't really explain the totality of the deafness of tone. Nowhere near enough time has been spent on the rapport or lack of... Relationships with only exposition for proof are not relationships at all. I hope the Ctulhu beast at least looks good |

Vincent Cassel, Kristen Stewart and T.J Miller would be better in an Alexander Payne farce.
I'd love to see that. |

Annoying English bird in this needs to get dead real fast.
In a movie titled "Underwater" she is literally and figuratively out of her depth. |

Underwater - 2.5/4
The first half hour is a hot mess but the next half hour is good and tense followed by a pretty damned decent half hour of creepy shit happening under the sea. The Lovecraft beast was good too when I finally got a proper peek at it. Kirsten Stewart runs about in her underwear a lot so to be honest this was a lot more bearable than I thought it would be. |

The English one is crap though. They just wrote an annoying twat for no discernible reason.

Much Ado About Nothing (1993) 6.7/10
It would have been a solid adaptation of the play if it was not for some rather poor casting choices (Keanu Reeves, Robert Sean Leonard; pretty much all the American actors); it is saved by the chemistry of Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson. I was in Much Ado About Nothing once playing the same role Keanu did, Don John, and all I heard through rehearsal was teasing from castmates about "Almost as good as Keanu"
Don't get me wrong, big fan of Keanu but no clue what they were thinking casting him in that role. |

Not very good but Kate Upton and Alexandria Daddario or however you spell it are both hot. |
