The NFL can make just as much money selling out a stadium in Germany as it can in the United States. The TV revenue will be the same, the potential new viewers increases and the NFL creates its own market.
Honestly, do you think that Giants fans are going to be so pissed off that they lost a random home game that they aren't going to sell out Giants Stadium? (Assuming one of the games is the Giants). I mean it kind of sucks, but it is a win-win situation for the NFL. |

Yah there O-line is horrible and it sucks for Drew cause it was the same deal in Buffalo. His O-line was horrible there too. He still has cement cleets on, but he'd be alot better if that O-line mixed in a blitz coverage from time to time.
I also love Chad Johnson. He was suppose to be keeping his mouth shut and i honestly think it hurts his game a little bit when he's not talking smack and proposing to cheerleaders on the sidelines. Marvin Lewis needs to let Chad be Chad. I love the smack talking Chad. He's going to torch Atlanta and i'm gunna love it. Cant wait til that guy comes to Indianapolis. I'll be in the frigging building cause that games gunna be so damn hot on Monday night. |

Honestly, its to the point where if Chad Johnson tells me, the fan, that he's going out there and scoring a touchdown on someone, no matter how many people are covering him, I believe it.

Yeah I don't get why Lewis would be againest Chad saying the shit he does, everyone knows hes just fucking around. Its not like players from the other team use it as billboard material or something
And back to the NFL game overseas, I don't see how you can like this idea. It hurts the fans of the home team, so what if they don't sell out the stadium (Pretty sure a large percentage of NFL teams sell out) It is still taking away an opportunity for fans to see them play in their home city, which to me is really stupid. It also takes away a home field advantage from the home team, plus the 2 teams are now forced to make a longer than usual trip (the only trip that wouldn't be THAT bad, would be a team from the NFC East going to England or something since that is like 30 minutes longer then going to Cali) Teams would also have to change up their entire "roadtrip" routine, which is they hate - creatures of habit. I realize the NFL is about making money but football is never going to blow up globally like basketball did, I think they just need to stop trying and just accept it. The majority of England will never be a fan of football in general, nevermind the NFL so I think it is a terrible move. Back to the teams that don't sell out thing, if those teams can't sell out in their home city why try to take them on the road to different countries? I mean yeah for that one game maybe they'll make more money, great, but why not use those efforts and try to increase the interest in the home team within you know, the actual home city? Don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling bad for the players who have to go overseas and play - they make plenty of money to play a game. What does bother me though is that this is going to hurt the product, from everything I've read all the players hate the idea. I can definetly see the travel time to go to places like China definetly effecting the on field play of the players, which is fucking retarded. I don't care if some people who don't give a shit about the NFL get to check out a game, I wanna see the best possible product on the field. |

Pretty sure the Jets and Giants have had sellouts for like the last 10 years straight or something. Could be wrong but I remember hearing that somewhere. All their tickets are season tickets with a waiting list and so forth.

I'm from Britain, and I'm not personally a fan of the idea. I think if you wanted to see a game so badly and you lived outside of the US then you should make your own effort to go and see a game. That's where the real atmosphere is, it just wouldn't be the same with a stadium full of English people in Wembley or something. The true NFL experience is in the US.

I never said I liked having the game over there, but I said it makes sense.
Say the Giants are one of the teams that lose a home game. Consider the following. • If the stadium in Germany sells out, then ticket revenue is the same as if they sell out Giants stadium • The game will still be televised, so the revenue there will still be the same • If it is a success, the NFL's world audience grows. This is NOT even close to NFL Europe • Giants fans might be angry, but will they be angry enough to stop watching the Giants play? Will they be angry enough to stop sellout out Giants Stadium? I would say NO to both questions. From the NFL's perspective, MONEY, this is not a bad decision. Giants fans are not going to stop supporting the team because of it. As for Chad, that was hilarious today. Telling TJ to get fined and he will pay it, priceless. |

Yeah but why take the time/money/effort to try to get more fans in Europe when you could just as easy market to more fans here in the States while using less resources?
You really wanna see your favorite team go play a game in China? I don't, there is no postives that are going to come from this other then they might gain a few more fans who can buy some merchandise. I also don't think it'll be successful because I can't see football being successful in other country other than the United States (and Canada to an extent I guess) It is going to hurt the product on the field I think, flying to China - adjusting to the time differences..Where are they even going to play? A soccer stadium? Are they gonna have good enough facilities to house 2 53 man football teams along with coaches and other personal? I don't know, there is positives from them doign this like you said but they aren't even close to the potenital negatives. |

There aren't positives to me if the Vikings play a game in China, but there are positives to the NFL if thousands of Chinese people start buying Vikings chothes.

Do you really think that is going to happen though? I don't think it is, plus even if that does happen is it really worth it? I really think a trip to a different country is going to effect the play of the players in a negative way and really hurt the product. Plus like previously stated, fans are definetly going to be pissed to see their favorite team lose a potential home game that they could attend, while that may not make fans quit watching just by itself, small things do begin to add up. Most people consider the NFL one of the best run sports leagues from a front office stand point, so why do something like taking away home game to shake things up? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

You know the beautiful part about this Chad Johnson thing? Atlanta is going to double him and put single coverage on TJ in the slot and have little 5-9 Jason Webster on 6-4 Chris Henry. This is assuming Chris Henry plays. Either way TJ is going off this weekend.

This poll poses an interesting question and one that can be expanded on greatly: who is the best player at his position in the NFL? If I made a list I believe it'd look something like this... QB: Peyton Manning RB: LaDainian Tomlinson FB: Justin Griffith/Mack Strong can't decide TE: Antonio Gates WR: Torry Holt OC: Olin Kreutz OG: Steve Hutchinson OT: Orlando Pace DE: Julius Peppers DT: Tommie Harris OLB: Lance Briggs ILB: Brian Urlacher (although it SHOULD be Zach Thomas) CB: Champ Bailey FS: Ed Reed SS: Troy Polamalu K: Shayne Graham P: Brad Maynard |

Briggs is the only guy on that list I'd take serious issue with... Chicago OLBs are all overrated, which is why Colvin and Holdman got big contracts after playing in Chicago...
I'd also question the Tommy Harris thing, cause I don't even view him as a tackle, he's very end-like. I think a good way to fix that is to list UT and NT, because you can't run for shit on Pat Williams or Vince Wilfork or Jamal Williams... but you can't pass for shit on Tommie Harris, or Richard Seymore or Kevin Williams... U NO WAT I MEEN? I demand you include more people on your list. |

I think Seymore is the best DT in the NFL since he is able to do everything well. Like AlphaBean listed some dudes are fat as shit run stuffers or quick as hell like Harris, Seymore is sick at both styles

Hes strictly a defensive end though
Seymore only plays end in the 3-4 (which is technically still pretty much a DT) Unless you where just saying that without any relation to my post, then yeah he's pretty good (obviously) but I'd still take a few ends over him. |

I bet you would take a few ends, Michael Stima
![]() But yeah Strahan in his prime (when he set the single-season mark, for instance), was the best. But right now, yeah I think we put Peppers and Seymour at DE, pop Tommie Harris and Pat Williams (ok he's not the best, but he's close, and I fuckin' love the dude.) Then LB... I'm gonna say Shawne "Lights and Syringes Out" Merriman on one side, and... maybe Julian Peterson on the other. |

Yeah hes better suited for the inside with a 4 man front though, he isn't much of a speed rusher off the edge.
I mean he can definetly do it, and does do it a lot but I personally see him more effective when hes playing head up to inside shoulder. The dude went to the Probowl as a Dtackle one year and D-end another year though, so he's the best defensive lineman in the NFL if you ask me. ~ homer i guess ~
I think Freeney is the best DE in the league hands down. Teams gameplan to triple team that guy on Sundays. Freeney is the only defensive end that makes offenses do a bunch formation with there TE and RB. Its happend so many times. Plus he makes Robert Mathis look like a god. I like your Center choices. I think Jeff Saturday could make the argument. |

Strahan was a sick cat in his prime. He has declined a little bit, but not much. I think the presence of Umenyiora (sp?) on the other side allows them both to be better. I think they're one of the best DE combo's in the league (read: not the best, one of the best.)
