mk11 is pretty divisive in its own rights. its the grounded footsie of both games that turn a lot of the FGC off. lower barrier of entry. lower top end skill ceiling. less room for improvisational combos.

all these things make for a better game for the masses but not for the die hards.
tekken is the apex of precision on fighting games. people who love frame perfect inputs and the like. reaches a small casual audience because of it but a crazy dedicated core audience (mostly korean.)

mk fandom seems very split on mk11. lotta people quickly went back to mkx and the tournies for mkx are popping back up already. after the bulk of the casual nrs fandom moves onto whatever the next project is id wager mkx will have the larger lasting active player base.

based off sales though i think the next game will have more in common with mk11/injustice 2 than mkx
