That's what you want to see in your main event: lots of pretty little snowflakes. I'd try to feature as many of these guys on future shows as possible as there was a noticeable uptick in match quality all around. Also, good on you for allowing your workers to drink on the job.

So, quick question: I can't just directly upload my saved game in 3.0 into 4.2? I've tried clicking the Data Converter button but it tells me that the .dat files are already converted but I didn't do anything other than install the game. Am I missing something or am I going to have to go through a long editing process?

I think the basic dat files were unchanged, you can try loading one up. It’s been so long since I’ve done it but I remember it being a seamless process

OK, I moved my DATA files from the 3.0 folder to the 4.2 folder and that conversion worked. I guess I have to do the same with the saved game files?

Wait, I think I got it. It may take some editing because in 4.2 the training and developmental are basically one thing but I think I can get it up and running once I put the time into it.

I had no idea about that tbh, it’s been an eternity.

Just wait til you get to contend with worker relationships! Adds a whole new dynamic

Problem with 4.2 developmental is they will literally stop improving at a certain point, I suspect some of those people with charisma issues will want to be moved up.

Time to have your managers pull a Bobby Heenan and start representing a ton of people

I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'm looking to get through to SummerSlam with what I have now. Maybe by the time Survivor Series comes around I'll be ready to go with 4.2. There have been so many times I've wanted to have a 5-vs-5 match but I'm fucked with 3.0.

My last WM would've been perfect for a 10-man in order to conclude the dueling authority figures angle. It'd have freed up some more space for Money in the Bank.

I'm going through the database and I'm realizing that I also have to specify the nationality of my guys, which is something I never really put much thought into. There are a few that I know because of the gimmicks I gave them based on whether or not the American stat was checked. The British Infection are an obvious one but Nathan Quinn was touted as the first Australian to be World Champion and Intercontinental Champion. I've envisioned Faith as a big Canadian hero. El Silencio is obviously Russian. Not sure about the rest but I'll figure it out eventually.

You know, fuck it. I decided to just go for broke and continue my game in 4.2, staying on the path to Judgment Day 2040. If things go sideways I can just pull a time heist and go back to 3.0. Wish me luck.

Yep, I think they realized developmental alone wouldn’t allow people to improve endlessly.

Time for the managers to earn the big bucks!

Well I was able to get two more people to turn manager. So here's what I got so far:

Aaron Ramsey
Aphrodite
Brooke
Fantasee
Jake Connelly
Madison
Nathan Quinn (freshly turned)
Paul Andrews
Sophie Waters (freshly turned) She's the most painful as I'm basically ending an era of some really great women's workers. Her, Riott, and Benton were tight as fuck but the end started once Benton hung things up.
Stephan Q. Sterling
Vivian Merrick

So a solid 11 people which is light years ahead of the whopping three I used to have. Plus I have the benefit of some of these guys still capable of pulling off a good match if circumstances require. That's totally not foreshadowing something for the next PPV...

Yeah you can convert anyone to manager in 4.2 so that’s quite nice. Also any non-wrestler can be booked into authority angles...or give a current worker an authority figure gimmick if you want a William Regal thing where the commissioner/GM is still an active performer.

Superstars: May 3, 2040

We're beginning the month of May with this presentation of Superstars! For some strange reason things look a little different and we've got some fancier graphics ()

We open with the returning Brandon Reigns! He looks pretty healthy and ready to go. He takes the mic and addresses the fact that it was unfortunate that he missed out on his rightfully earned chance at the Intercontinental Title at Backlash. The end result would have been the same; there would have been a new champion only it would've Brandon Reigns. He fully expects the situation to be remedied and is counting on Lisa Benton to do the right thing and allow him to challenge for the title.

Lisa Benton herself joins us and gets right to it. She's glad to see Reigns back but questions if he's sure he's ready to go because she wants to schedule an Intercontinental Title match soon. Reigns is more than ready, he declares. In fact, to prove it, he'll take an open challenge for the main event tonight! Benton ponders this for a bit but ultimately agrees.

First Match: Hugo vs. Todd Griffith
This is our first look at Hugo after the devastation he left after his debut on Raw. We're not sure if Carl Deveroux will ever recover. Hugo strikes Griffith. Stiff chop lights up Griffith. Hugo fires off some right and left hands. There's a two count on the pin. Griffith takes a flying neckbreaker from Hugo. Cover for a two count. Hugo gets taken down out of nowhere. Griffith snapmares Hugo. Cover for a two count. Todd Griffith uses a running dropkick into the corner. Hugo powers out of a Todd Griffith headlock. Flying clothesline by Hugo. Todd Griffith is in trouble. Moonsault Crush!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!! Todd Griffith leaves and walks back down the aisle. Wait...Hugo comes running as well, and Griffith gets dropped with a clothesline, followed by a load of stomps. He is left lying in the aisle. I'll give it a *1\2 rating. 52% overall. Just a squash over a jobber to start the ball rolling on getting Hugo over.

Martyn LaSalle makes his way to the ring, looking a bit worse for wear but that's to be expected after his brutal I Quit match against Quentin McDaniels. He wants to let us know that physically, he'll recover. He always bounces back. Mentally? Spiritually? He won't lie to us, he took his loss pretty bad. He fully expected to go over McDaniels but LaSalle underestimated him. LaSalle isn't sure where he'll go from here but rest assured he's definitely not going away. He recover and he'll start that climb to the top again. Hell, maybe he'll take Brandon Reigns up on his chal...

...Jason Sorola's music hits and he interjects himself. Jason calls LaSalle and mopey loser. No one cares about how LaSalle feels and it'd be funny if it weren't so sad. LaSalle needs to man up just like Jason Sorola. LaSalle fires back that perhaps Sorola has a point. After all, here he stands now, strong and confident, when not that long ago LaSalle made Sorola tap out like a little bitch and made sure he didn't get a World Title shot. Sorola turns red and turns around but then tries a surprise right hand. LaSalle catches him though and looks to apply the Martynizer! Sorola escapes and bails however.

Second Match: The British Infection vs. Jimmy Farnes and Freddie Galino
Flying shoulder tackle by Galino sends A. Gallagh to the mat. A. Gallagh gets hit with a huge clothesline. Hooks the leg for a two count. Tag to Jimmy Farnes. Galino and Farnes whip A. Gallagh into the corner. Jimmy Farnes whips Freddie Galino in for a hard clothesline to follow-up. Jimmy Farnes with a spinning neckbreaker on A. Gallagh. Hooks the leg for a two count. Farnes slams Adrian Gallagher. Adrian Gallagher avoids a Jimmy Farnes avalanche. Slingshot senton by A. Gallagh, crushing the chest of Farnes. Tag to Nate Exley. Gut buster, Farnes hits hard. Vicious lightning kick by Exley on Farnes. Farnes counters a sleeper hold by turning it into a jaw breaker. Tag between Jimmy Farnes and Freddie Galino. Beautiful spinning arm drag out of the corner by Galino. Freddie Galino drills Nate Exley with a press slam into a Michinoku Driver. Pinfall attempt gets a 2.9999. Galino bodyslams Nate Exley. Exley blocks the suplex attempt. Exley pulls a picture perfect fallaway slam out of the bag, driving Freddie Galino down to the mat. Freddie Galino is in big trouble...Queen's English!! 1....2....3! This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating. 89% overall.

Third Match: Faith Connors vs. Billie Padgett
Billie gets caught with a belly to belly suplex from Faith. Stiff high kick on Billie by Faith Connors who has evidently been watching some old AJPW tapes recently. Second rope flying axe handle, Billie goes down. Stun Gun from Faith Connors! There used to be this blonde guy in WCW in the early 90's who used that...i wonder what happened to him? Billie backdrops Faith Connors out of a piledriver attempt. Legsweep out of Nowhere. Where is Nowhere, and why do moves keep coming out of there? Does it have a factory? Spinning bulldog in the corner, Faith is down. Cover for a two count. Faith counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Faith crushes Billie with a sweet running senton. There's a two count on the pin. Billie gets hit with a running splash mountain out of the corner. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Billie reverses a Faith Connors hammerlock. Dropkick connects, Faith goes down. Faith blocks a kick from Billie Padgett. Faith Connors hits a rolling kick on Billie. Tania comes running down the aisle and into the ring! Billie Padgett turns around. Tania spins Billie around. Tania hits the Nose Dive! Tania leaves the ring, the damage done! Cover gets three. Faith Connors pinned Billie. Billie is pounding the canvas with punches, shouting about how unfair everything is. A ***** rating for a superb bout!

That's right...FIVE...FUCKING...STARS!

Backstage, Michael Hotbody is on the phone talking about plans and how he wants something to look. We don't get to hear the complete details as Aphrodite approaches him. She manages to use her feminine wiles and Hotbody's own ego against him to get him to agree to a match with Caleb Greene on SmackDown! tomorrow night.

Fourth Match: Romeo Valiente vs. Ozzy Mandias
Second rope flying axe handle, Valiente goes down. Flying cross body off the top rope! Even Steamboat would have applauded the execution on that. Hooks the leg for a two count. Valiente blocks the suplex attempt. Chanelling the spirit of Misawa, Romeo Valiente uses a forearm to the face. Rude Awakening on Ozzy Mandias by Valiente. Cover for a two count. Lifting DDT by Romeo Valiente, executed well. Pin, but Oz is out just before the three count. Back elbow connects, Oz staggers backward. Romeo Valiente gets taken down out of nowhere. Super kick by Ozzy Mandias. There's a two count on the pin. Vicious kick to the teeth from Ozzy Mandias. Akira Maeda would be proud. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Flying elbow from Ozzy Mandias. Oz hits a wicked chop that echoes through the building. Valiente counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face. Gut buster, Oz hits hard. Massive lariat, Valiente really put some power into that. Ozzy Mandias gets whipped into the corner by Valiente, and flips all the way over to the outside! Oz stays down on the outside, hurt. The referee reaches a ten count, and this one is over. Romeo Valiente slides out of the ring to the floor, then turns and leaves through the crowd. He's happy to have the win, and evidently isn't going to hang around for Oz to get some payback. This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating. 93% overall.

Fifth Match: Kyle Jacobs, Raymond Delaney, Seth Von Kamp and The Dillingers vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Salvatore Scabbia, Ronnie Costello, Moses McKay, and The Academy
Justin Mitchell uses move #193 (arm-BAR). Big backdrop on Dillinger, executed well. Mitchell tags out to Randy Ellis. Dillinger receives some punishment. Dillinger tags out to Joey Dillinger. Kick from Randy Ellis to the leg. The Didact tags out to Moses McKay. Randy Ellis scoops up Joey. McKay bounces off the ropes and hits a flying Hart Attack clothesline. McKay tags out to Salvatore Scabbia. Salvatore Scabbia strikes Joey. Second rope flying axe handle, Joey goes down. There's a two count on the pin. Big Sal tags out to Moses McKay. Naomi Bailey is out in the ring. Everyone sure loved Faith Connors tonight, huh? Naomi doesn't care. Faith couldn't get the job done at Backlash and that's the only thing that matters. Now that Faith has thoroughly proven herself incapable of rising to the occasion it's time to start talking about making Naomi Bailey the number one contender to the Women's Title. She knows Sonya Braddock is here tonight and Naomi demands that she makes herself present right now and give an answer.

The Women's Champion does in fact show up and addresses Naomi from the stage. Braddock confesses that it would be tremendous to have the opportunity to knock out Naomi one more time but it's going to take more than tough talk to get that title match Naomi is asking for. Sonya may have retained the title at Backlash but she's not happy with how it went down. She's actually considering giving Faith Connors another shot. Naomi doesn't take too kindly to that bit of news and warns Braddock about the risk of ignoring the Queen. Braddock doesn't bow to anybody...your highness. Do your worst. We end with both women staring each other down.

Sixth Match: Ryan Pattillo vs. L.A. Xander

Pattillo hits a dropkick on L.A. Xander. Ryan Pattillo moves in for the kill. Here it comes - Nadowa Slam. 1....2...3, it's finished. This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating. 93% overall.

To placate the fans who were looking forward to a triple threat match at Backlash for the championship, fear not! Tomorrow night on SmackDown!, the main even will be Salvatore Scabbia defending the Intercontinental Title against Brandon Reigns AND Kyle Jacobs!

Overall show rating: 87%.

I've got an e-mail telling me how well Connors and Padgett gel.

I can only imagine how things are going to go when she's against Jenna Kyle. Again, totally not foreshadowing anything coming up....

The overness of some of the guys just up from development will torpedo some of the ratings for a bit but if memory serves, working high quality matches will rank their overness up pretty quickly, usually until around the 80s and from there it's up to the booking.

5 star match on free television! Hot damn.

I imagine Jenna Kyle must be hot. I've never known of an ugly Jenna.

What a cheap shot! A ****1\4 rating, great bout. 90% overall.

Michael Hotbody is on the phone backstage with someone. He's telling this person that Zed Jones is banned from his match against Calab Greene tonight and that this is the moment of truth if what Hotbody has been telling them these past few weeks have gotten through.

Back in the ring, Hugo is addressing the crowd. He's here in the WWE to dominate and be number one. He's already put a few notches on his belt and it's only the beginning. Daniel St. Croix runs down to try to get him some, no doubt trying to avenge what happened to his partner on Raw. Hugo is just too much though and just brutalizes St. Croix leaving him laying.

Jenna gets in Billie's face, upset at what she's done. 96% overall.

OK, wow...another five stars. I'm starting to think doing Faith vs. Jenna in this game will indeed give me an orgasm.

We get a promo from the Unified World Champion Noah Carmichael. He admits that he was dreading the day when Butch Fleming would eventually return. Not because Carmichael is afraid of him but because Carmichael knows the obsession Fleming possesses would derail whatever joy there was. Fleming is dangerous, no question about it, but Carmichael will always know him better than he knows himself. He accepts Fleming's challenge for Judgment Day.

Third Match: Kerry Cemenko vs. Chris Collins
Hard impact russian legsweep by Collins. If you're going to get impact, 'hard' is probably a good way to go. Lightning kick by Collins on Concrete. Cover for a two count. Concrete turns...and is dropped by a vicious chair shot! Xavier Cross has left Concrete down and bloodied. Excellent match, a ***** rating! 94% overall.

Somehow I don't think these guys would give me an orgasm.

Backstage, Kyle Jacobs is PUMPED and ready to go. He's not letting Backlash or Brandon Reigns ruin things for him tonight. He is willing, however, to do a little premature spoiling of Brooke's birthday by taking back the Intercontinental Title.

Fifth Match: Caleb Greene vs. Michael Hotbody
Hotbody comes out wearing what is obviously a phony championship belt and insists the ring announcer redo his entrance, making sure Hotbody is referred to as the current CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION-ELECT! Also, he wants to make it crystal clear to Caleb Greene and everyone else that despite the high-profile nature of the match it is strictly NON-TITLE!!! So here we go...

Fifth Match: Caleb Greene vs. WWE Cruiserweight Champion-Elect Michael Hotbody

Also kudos for a triple threat in which the champion actually takes the fall instead of the easy "losing your belt without being defeated" angle

Raw: May 7, 2040

We open with Faith Connors telling us that she heard about how disappointed Sonya Braddock was with how their match at Backlash ended. Faith empathizes with that sentiment and she's ready to go again as long as Braddock is ready, willing, and able.

Cue the Queen of the Ring, Naomi Bailey to interrupt. Naomi tells Faith that she lost. Period. She goes back to the end of the line and gets to genuflect in front the true Queen of the WWE, Naomi Bailey!

Cue Jenna Kyle to interrupt Naomi's interruption. If we're going to be talking about royalty, you're all looking at the only two-time Queen of the Ring. Hell, Faith herself is the first ever Queen of the Ring. Jenna believes that all three of them have a claim to getting a shot at Sonya Braddock.

Cue Lisa Benton to interrupt the interruption of Naomi's interruption. This has been getting out of hand with all three of you. She's ready to move on to a different contender for the Women's Title but doesn't want to discount the claims made here. So she proposes a Queen of Queens match at Judgment Day between Jenna Kyle, Faith Connors, and Naomi where the winner will face the Women's Champion at Night of Champions. That seems cool with everyone and we go to break.

First Match: WWE Unified Tag Team Championship
The Future Foundation (c) vs. The Dillingers
Joey receives some punishment. Julian Merrick with a spinning neckbreaker on Joey. There's a two count on the pin. Tag to Rick Hilton. Future Foundation hook up Joey, then hit a double suplex. There's a two count on the pin. Bodyslam by Hilton. Joey powers out of a headlock. Gutwrench into a stomach breaker, Hilton may be winded. Cover for a two count. Tag between Joey Dillinger and Ben Dillinger. Hilton gets hit with a huge clothesline. Cover, but there's a last second kick-out. Second rope flying axe handle, Hilton goes down. Ben Dillinger misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Rick Hilton with a spinning neckbreaker on Dillinger. Hilton tags out to Julian Merrick. Dillinger takes a headbutt from Julian Merrick. Tag between Ben Dillinger and Joey Dillinger. Rude Awakening on Joey Dillinger by Merrick. Vivian Merrick is at ringside! Joey wastes valuable time by yelling at Vivian! Julian Merrick takes advantage of the distraction and nails Joey from behind! Julian Merrick moves in for the kill. Black Sheep! 1....2....3. Almost a ***** match...but it was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2. 93% overall.

We're joined by Lonny Richards...and what's this? He's accompanied by Nathan Quinn? Richards wants everyone to know that he's not happy about what he did to Caleb Greene on SmackDown! but when he listened to Michael Hotbody detail all of the evidence of what a horrible friend Caleb has been since reuniting after the roster split, what choice did he really have? Quinn takes the mic and addresses everyone. "You see, when Richards here was on his own on SmackDown!, he was making a name for himself, far away from the past he had with Caleb Greene. He was getting rubs from the likes of Jake Connelly. He got championship opportunities. He was on his way to carving out his own name in the annals of history. That got put on the backburner when everyone came together and Caleb Greene, like the selfish person that he is, dragged Richards back down to his level and expected him to just go along for the ride like the good old days. He expected Richards to have his back even though Caleb never had Richards'. Well, now, Lonny Richards has found a partnership in me. I have his best interests in mind and they have nothing to do with Caleb Greene. I will help guide him to that promise land he was so close to obtaining without any dead weight."

Second Match: Kyle Jacobs vs. Ronnie Costello
Ronnie Costello hits a rolling kick on Jacobs. Flying cross body off the top rope! Even Steamboat would have applauded the execution on that. There's a two count on the pin. Kyle Jacobs reverses a hip toss. Chanelling the spirit of Misawa, Kyle Jacobs uses a forearm to the face. Jacobs slams Ronnie Costello down. Cover for a two count. Brutal seated powerbomb on Costello. Hooks the leg for a close fall. Running knee lift from Kyle Jacobs. Ronnie Costello reverses a hip toss. Flying cross body off the top rope! Even Steamboat would have applauded the execution on that. There's a two count on the pin. Back heel kick off the second rope, Jacobs goes down. Hooks the leg for a close fall. Flying elbow from Ronnie Costello. Ronnie Costello strikes Jacobs. Jacobs counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face. Rude Awakening on Ronnie Costello by Jacobs. Flying clothesline by Jacobs. Kyle Jacobs moves in for the kill. Legacy Bomb!!! That shook the ring. Salvatore Scabbia slides into the ring out of nowhere! Jacobs takes a stiff punch to the face and falls to the canvas. The referee calls for the DQ as Salvatore Scabbia continues to attack Jacobs. Costello and Big Sal are beating the hell out of Kyle Jacobs! Raymond Delaney sprints down the aisle and slides into the ring! He goes toe-to-toe with Ronnie Costello, exchanging punches, while Kyle Jacobs comes back, sending Big Sal out of the ring with a clothesline. Delaney \ Jacobs have cleared the ring, driving off Costello and Big Sal! This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating. 90% overall

Third Match: Xavier Cross and Jason Sorola vs. Kerry Cemenko and Martyn LaSalle
Concrete receives some punishment. Stun Gun from Xavier Cross! There used to be this blonde guy in WCW in the early 90's who used that...i wonder what happened to him? Hooks the leg for a two count. Tag to Jason Sorola. Xavier Cross scoops up Concrete. Sorola bounces off the ropes and hits a flying Hart Attack clothesline. Cover for a two count. Sorola drives a thrust kick into the chest of Concrete. Concrete counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face. Spinning bulldog in the corner, Sorola is down. There's a two count on the pin. Tag between Kerry Cemenko and Martyn LaSalle. LaSalle crushes Sorola with a running senton. Cover, but there's a last second kick-out. Rude Awakening on Jason Sorola by LaSalle. Sorola kicks Martyn LaSalle in the gut to reverse the momentum. LaSalle gets caught with a short powerbomb from Sorola. Sorola tags out to Xavier Cross. Cross bodyslams Martyn LaSalle. LaSalle tags out to Kerry Cemenko. Cross uses a basement dropkick to the knee. Kerry Cemenko slugs Xavier Cross, sending him down into the corner. While Concrete fires up the crowd, Cross is removing the turnbuckle pad! Kerry Cemenko comes over...but Cross grabs him by the tights and uses the leverage to slingshot Kerry Cemenko face first into the exposed steel turnbuckle! Xavier Cross rolls up the stunned Kerry Cemenko: 1....2...3! How did the referee not see that? Excellent match, a ***** rating! 95% overall.

We return from break with the ring decorated with an elaborate set-up, similar to a press conference with a podium and set pieces with the phrase "Office of the Cruiserweight Champion-Elect" on them. Michael Hotbody joins us, still wearing his obviously fake title belt and he gets behind the podium to address the crowd. He welcomes us to the first installment of the Hot Button, a segment which will cut to the major issues concerning the Office of the Cruiserweight Champion-Elect, Michael Hotbody. He wants to make it clear that HE WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY QUESTIONS! That being said, he invites Jordan Demiras to be part of the press pool so that he can get a good talking to and maybe he'll finally get with the program that Michael Hotbody is the best thing going on in the cruiserweight division. He's undefeated. He's the winner of a Rumble. He stole the show at WrestleMania. The only thing that is left is for Jordan Demiras to give up the charade of calling himself a champion.

The music of Demiras hits and he makes a beeline for Hotbody. Hotbody repeatedly yells at Demiras that there's no asking questions. Demiras enters the ring but is cut off by the members of the press pool allowing Hotbody to make his escape. Demiras knocks a few of 'journalists' down and wrecks the set.

Fourth Match: Clubber Harris vs. Conner Buchanan
Buchanan takes a headbutt from Clubber Harris. Conner Buchanan elbows Clubber Harris in the face to break a hammerlock. Double arm suplex by Conner Buchanan, Harris hits hard. The referee bumps after catching a wild right hand and is down. Emerald Fusion by Conner Buchanan on Harris. Pinfall attempt, but the ref is conveniently laid out. Clubber Harris reverses a hip toss. Harris uses a basement dropkick to the knee. Clubber Harris hits a bulldog off the ropes. Cover for a two count. Clubber Harris scores with a killer spinebuster. Pin, but Buchanan is out just before the three count. Harris drops an elbow...but misses. Fate can be so cruel. Gutwrench into a stomach breaker, Harris may be winded. Cover, but there's a last second kick-out. Harris ducks a wild right hand. Clubber Harris moves in for the kill. Here it comes - Club Pain. 1....2...3, it's finished. Almost a ***** match...but it was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2. 93% overall.

Fifth Match: Hannah McCormick and Bobbi Jo vs. Lauren Franklyn and Sarah Moore
McCormick hits a massive spinning kick to the jaw. Legsweep out of Nowhere. Where is Nowhere, and why do moves keep coming out of there? Does it have a factory? Hooks the leg for a two count. McCormick tags out to Bobbi Jo. McCormick \ B.J. whip Franklyn into the ropes and hit a double backdrop. There's a two count on the pin. Flying elbow from Bobbi Jo. Franklyn kicks Bobbi Jo in the gut to reverse the momentum. B.J. gets hit with a huge clothesline. There's a two count on the pin. Franklyn tags out to Sarah Moore. Spinning bulldog in the corner, B.J. is down. Pinfall attempt gets a 2.9999. Legsweep out of Nowhere. Where is Nowhere, and why do moves keep coming out of there? Does it have a factory? Sarah Moore misses a clothesline. Flying elbow from Bobbi Jo. Tag to Hannah McCormick. Kick from Hannah McCormick to the leg. Tag between Sarah Moore and Lauren Franklyn. Spin kick by Hannah McCormick to the face. Hannah McCormick has Lauren Franklyn down on the canvas and is ascending the corner. Through the air, Spotlight! 1....2....3. Almost a ***** match...but it was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2. 88% overall.

The NEW Intercontinental Champion Brandon Reigns along with his manager, Jake Connelly come down to join us. Connelly wants to let Reigns know that he's proud of him. He knew he was making a wise decision when he tapped Reigns to be his protégé. Connelly knows the future of the business is bright with Brandon Reigns poised to lead the way.

Reigns thanks Connelly for the kind words. He wants to talk about the things he's managed to accomplish in the WWE. He brings up becoming a 4-time Intercontinental Champion. He brings up the fact that he overcame the duo of Scabbia and Jacobs to make it to where he is know. He mentions being the one to eliminate Jake Connelly himself in order to get a chance at Money in the Bank and then winning it at WrestleMania. "So with all of that being said, and with all of that essentially being done by myself, it begs the question, why do I need someone like you by my side, Connelly?" Connelly looks at Reigns confused. BAM! Reigns nails Connelly, sending him down. Reigns continues the assault and emphatically ends it by smashing Connelly's head with his Money in the Bank briefcase. Reigns has just turned on his mentor!

Sonya Braddock is backstage about to be asked about the Queen of Queens match that announced earlier. Vivian Merrick however is passing through and interjects, claiming that no one cares about that. Vivian wants to know what Braddock is going to do about a challenger for title at Judgment Day. That is if she is actually a fighting champion and not looking to stay at home. Vivian Merrick is up to the challenge. She's surrounded by two champions in Rick Hilton and her brother Julian. Maybe it's time she joins them. Braddock gets in Vivian's face and simply says, "It's nice to have a dream." She walks off leaving Vivian perplexed.

MAIN EVENT: Zed Jones vs. Noah Carmichael
This was set up with Jones sticking his nose in the main event last week. Hard back suplex on Wildcard. Anyone remember when that was Shawn Michaels's finisher? Powerful Spear by Zed Jones. Cover for a two count. Wildcard counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Jones takes a headbutt from Noah Carmichael. Big clothesline on Jones. Hooks the leg for a two count. Brutal seated powerbomb on Jones. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Big clothesline on Jones. Wildcard only gets knees on a splash. Spinebuster by Zed Jones, executed with Arn-esque perfection. Hooks the leg for a two count. Massive lariat, Jones really put some power into that. Pinfall attempt gets a 2.9999. Bodyslam by Jones. Wildcard takes a headbutt from Zed Jones. Wildcard kicks Zed Jones in the gut to reverse the momentum. Big clothesline on Jones. Delayed brainbuster suplex, Wildcard really drove that one down. Noah Carmichael moves in for the kill. Here it comes - Quick Draw. Butch Fleming quickly comes running down the aisle and into the ring! Noah Carmichael turns around. Butch Fleming spins Wildcard around. Butch Fleming hits the Slaughterhouse Special! The referee calls for the DQ because of the interference of Fleming! Jones and Fleming are putting the boots to Noah Carmichael! Haven comes running down the aisle with a chair! He slides in, sending Jones \ Fleming running for cover. Haven saved Wildcard from a major beating. This was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2 rating. 90% overall.

Overall show rating: 90%

Incident Report: Jake Connelly has found religion. Um...OK?

Lauren Franklyn wants to be in a regular tag team with Sarah Moore. I mean, I'd be fine with that if I had more women to do a tag division but who knows?

I'm told Joey and Ben Dillinger, who are already a well-established team, blend really well due to their similar styles. YOU THINK?

The plan before Reigns getting suspended from the show was him winning the belt but by beating Jacobs, who was champion at the time. This would've set up Jacobs vs. Scabbia in a final blow off to get to see who would get their rightful one-on-one rematch. I'm still on that track but it's just delayed a bit.

AEW Dark: February 16, 2021:

-Shanna def. Leva Bates
-Wardlow def. Michael Nakazawa
-"The Spanish God" Sammy Guevara def. Marko Stunt (in apparently a **** match, I'll have to make note of that one)
-Riho def. Penelope Ford
-The Butcher and The Blade def. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian

AEW Dynamite: February 17, 2021

First Match:

Cody Rhodes opens us up against Matt Sydal. The two have themselves a competitive match that sees Cody ultimately besting Sydal with a Cross Rhodes. The two shake hands, Sydal leaves only for Cody to be jumped by Eddie Kingston and The Family! ***, 76% overall

Eddie grabs himself a mic and runs down Cody, he challenged him last week. "I know you're the EVP, cut the shit and give me an answer!" The Butcher and the Blade hold Cody's head up to the mic and the stubborn bastard accepts, see you at Revolution. 81% overall

Second Match:

A month ago, Miro beat Chuck Taylor in a match that forced Taylor to briefly be Miro's butler. Now Taylor looks for some measure of retribution, but Miro was just too powerful to be stopped. Game Over, and Taylor taps. But he holds it longer and longer, refs can't pull him off! Kip Sabian cuts Orange Cassidy off at the pass as Miro leaves the hold locked in on Taylor for so long as officials and paramedics intervene. **3/4, 72% overall

Third Match:

Last week, Matt Hardy bested Colt Cabana of the Dark Order. Tonight we're in 6 man action as The Hardy Party (Matt Hardy and Private Party) faced Dark Order members Colt Cabana, Alex Reynolds, and John Silver. The Dark Order (who are way more over IRL now than they are in these stats ) got most of the shine in this one, but the Hardy contingent's underhanded tactics ultimately prevailed with Hardy hooking Reynolds' tights. **3/4, 69% overall

Matt Hardy once again makes a plea for Hangman Page, who was once again enjoying the libations in the stadium bar. Turning down The Dark Order was the best move he's ever made in his career. A spot with the Matt Hardy brand is still wide open for him, and next week he'd love to join Hangman at the bar to seal the deal. 87% overall

Fourth Match:

Awesome Kong makes her official in-ring return with AEW, and poor Leva Bates drew the short end of the stick on this one. This was effectively a squash and Leva never stood a chance. After the match, Hikaru Shida rushes to the ring and stuns Kong with a kendo stick shot to the head! I think that means challenge accepted. **, 65% overall

It is announced that next week, live on Dynamite, Jon Moxley will face PAC to determine the #1 contendership for the AEW World Championship. Kenny Omega was asked who he preferred to face, but Don Callis quickly interjected that Kenny's beaten them both and he won't allow Kenny to give a hack interviewer the benefit of a soundbite. 88% overall

Backstage, Chuck Taylor had a back brace on as he was being taken to the hospital (yes the hospital, not the local medical facility, for fuck's sake). Miro boasts that he put Trent on the shelf and now he put Chuck on the shelf. Orange Cassidy has seen enough and he starts throwing haymakers at Miro, this is the maddest anyone's seen Orange Cassidy. 87% overall

More backstage antics as the Young Bucks happen upon the Inner Circle in the hallway, just as Santana and Ortiz were arguing over Jericho and MJF's miscommunication last week. Jericho attempts to play the "EVERYTHING IS FINE" card once again, and says the Inner Circle will prove its strength next week. Tell the Bucks to bring their Bullet Club buddies with them because next week it'll be an 8-man tag team match. 90% overall

Fifth Match:

A month ago Darby Allin handed Brian Cage his first pinfall defeat in AEW and tonight Cage was determined to prove that it was a fluke. I imagine this match was a pretty frantic pace with them going hell for leather with each other and just going all out for 10 minutes or so. Taz slides the FTW Belt into the ring for a belt shot and Cage get the win. ****, 85% overall (92% quality...I loved their match in real life, they have a great small guy vs. big guy dynamic, I'm surprised they gel this well in game)

Taz can never resist the urge to gloat. He reminds Darby he has no idea what he's in for when there are no rules at Revolution. Cage gives Darby a Drill Claw, everyone expects Sting to appear to help him but a cut backstage shows him down with the rest of Team Taz standing over him with baseball bats. 87% overall

Main Event:

PAC vs. Jon Moxley for #1 contendership to the AEW Championship. These men are evenly matched, having fought to a time limit draw on Dynamite in 2019. Don Callis on commentary says Kenny Omega has no preference for a winner, but after a ref bump it would sure seem to not be the case as The Good Brothers hit the ring and start beating down Mox. PAC is having none of it and tries to intervene, but Kenny whacks him with the belt and hits him with the One Winged Angel.

Mox dragged up to the announce table as Gallows and Anderson give him a Magic Killer through the table (all while Callis continues to deny Kenny having a preference). Ref comes to, PAC is knocked out in the ring but wins #1 contendership via countout. Before he can get to his feet, Kenny hits him with a V-Trigger knee to the back of the head. ***1/4, 79% overall

Admittedly, while I picked up several of AEW's stories, my booking for the other stuff feels half assed because I only had 4 Dynamites to build to Revolution, and I'm doing Revolution earlier than it is in real life.

For backstory...Kenny's the only person to pin Mox in AEW, but he did so via screwjob. Kenny's beaten PAC though in a rivalry they had early in AEW's history. So while it seems like a weak way to declare a #1 contender, the idea is to not blow my load with Mox' rematch and give PAC a legit main event spot, because he and Kenny can and will have a classic when given the time.

In real life I'd expect Kenny/Mox or maybe a triple threat to headline Revolution, either of which I'm good with as well but we'll see.

Looking at that I'm just imagining all of the low-key **** matches out there that have been lost to history and weren't seen by a massive audience. I mean, for all we know Paul Wight and Kevin Nash put on a clinic in some bumfuck little town in the Carolinas. Also big ups to Daniels and Kazarian still hanging in there.

What I took away from this segment was Sydal basically saying, "Cool, I got my handshake. Laters." Also it's a shame that Cody never really got a fair shake in WWE, in my opinion.

You should make it so that this win means Taylor has to continue being Miro's bitch a little longer.

"The Hardy Party". OK, that's actually pretty clever. Also, bonus points for using the word 'libations'.

"Drill Claw" reminds me of Wolverine in those X-Men fighting games. But **** is nothing to sneeze at.

The only reason I get the One Winged Angel reference is because YouTube won't stop recommending me videos of different versions of it just because of one God damn video I watched one time.

Opening Match: The Young Bloods vs. Jesse Capalbo and Josh Turmell
Hard back suplex on Sully. Anyone remember when that was Shawn Michaels's finisher? Super frankensteiner on Sully, who hit hard. Cover for a two count. Tag to Josh Turmell. Josh Turmell scoops up Sully. Capalbo bounces off the ropes and hits a flying Hart Attack clothesline. The Silenc uses a basement dropkick to the knee. There's a two count on the pin. We get a promo from the Intercontinental Champion Brandon Reigns. He tells us that nobody should be shocked about what he did to Jake Connelly on Raw. If you were a fan of Brandon Reigns all these years why would any of you believe that he needed Jake Connelly at his side? Jake Connelly is late to the party because people have tapped Brandon Reigns to be the future of the company a long time ago. Jake Connelly was trying to stay relevant by hitching himself to Brandon's wagon. Sorry, but with the Intercontinental Title on one hand and Money in the Bank in the other, there's no room for anyone else on this ride.

We're joined by the WWE Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Demiras in the ring. He informs us that he is making a demand that Lisa Benton sanction a championship match between him and Michael Hotbody at Judgment Day. Demiras is eager to finally shut Hotbody up because he's sick of the games and buffoonery.

Jason Sorola enters the arena and mocks Demiras. "What happened to you?" he asks Demiras. This isn't the same Jordan Demiras that unseated Sorola in one hell of an upset. Sorola almost feels bad for him. Sorola doesn't think that this version of Demiras isn't up to the challenge at Judgment Day against Hotbody. Demiras dares Sorola to try him if he really thinks that's the case. Sorola is down for a match tonight but only if Demiras makes it a title match. Demiras ponders it over but ultimately agrees.

I'm handing out a ***** rating for this match, it was excellent! 94% overall.

Third Match: The Wasteland vs. The Millennium Rebels
Standing leg lariat by Drakken on Brady. Drakken hits a rolling kick on Brady. Hooks the leg for a two count. Tag to Duke. The Wasteland whip Brady into the ropes and hit a double clothesline. Duke walks into a spike slam. Pin, but Duke is out just before the three count. Running knee lift from Johnny Dangerson. Duke counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Duke with a spinning neckbreaker on Dangerson. Tag to Drakken. Kick from Drakken to the leg. Dangerson tags out to Sammy Brady. Driven DDT by Drakken. The ring shook violently, instantly making it better at selling than some of the current roster. Sammy Brady is all alone...Toxic Kiss!! 1....2....3! I'm handing out a ***** rating for this match, it was excellent! 97% overall.

Hugo is backstage. He wants to issue a warning to the entire roster about his impending dominance. He also mocks Daniel St. Croix over his pitiful attempt at revenge.

Fourth Match: Alexander Piero hits some punches. Piero hits a right hand. Bodyslam by Piero. Big backdrop on Michaels, executed well. Michaels counters a sleeper hold by turning it into a jaw breaker. Fallaway slam by Doug Michaels. Driven full nelson slam on Piero. Cover for a two count. Piero powers out of a headlock. Michaels pushes out of a Alexander Piero hold. Stiff high kick on Piero by Doug Michaels who has evidently been watching some old AJPW tapes recently. Alexander Piero comes up with a right hand out of nowhere. Running knee lift from Alexander Piero. Doug Michaels can barely stand. Here it comes - Flashpoint. 1....2...3, it's finished. Almost a ***** match...but it was missing something, so it only gets a ****1\2. 90% overall.

Fifth Match: Lonny Richards vs. Cameron Harper
Cameron Harper hits a rolling kick on Lonny. Spinebuster by Cameron Harper, executed with Arn-esque perfection. There's a two count on the pin. Lonny Richards has Cameron Harper down on the canvas. Here it comes...Dragon Sleeper! Cameron Harper taps! A ****1\2 rating for a great match. 91% overall.

Ozzy Mandias is backstage wanting to say a few words about Romeo Valiente. He doesn't think a creep like Valiente has a place in the WWE and is ready to smack him down the next time he gets in his business.

Sixth Match: Hannah McCormick vs. Tania
Spinning back kick from Hannah McCormick. Tania blocks a punch. Chanelling the spirit of Misawa, Tania uses a forearm to the face. The referee bumps after catching a wild right hand and is down. Blind lariat by Tania, McCormick never saw it coming until it was too late. Pinfall attempt, but the ref is conveniently laid out. McCormick counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face. Flying elbow from Hannah McCormick. Super kick by Hannah McCormick. Hooks the leg for a two count. Springboard dropkick from Hannah McCormick. Nicely done. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Tania reverses a hip toss. McCormick walks into a spike slam. Pin : 1 - 2 - 2.9999999. Tania walks into a trip. Tania takes a nasty tumble from the top to the outside after a shove from Hannah McCormick! The referee count to ten, then calls for the bell. Tania gets counted out. Billie Padgett comes running down the aisle with a chair and into the ring! Tania turns...and is dropped by a vicious chair shot! Billie Padgett has left Tania down and bloodied. Someone is under the ring holding the champion's leg preventing him from entering the ring! The referee reaches a ten count, and this one is over. Demiras reaches down and pulls out the person who's under the ring. IT'S MICHAEL HOTBODY! Hotbody tosses powder in Jordan's face before anything can be done to him. Hotbody sends Demiras into the ring. Michael Hotbody floors Demiras. Michael Hotbody signals - Hot Ticket! Jordan Demiras has been left down on the canvas. The combination of great matches and Faith being a Canadian hero has given him quite the workout.

I really think that there should be an update to the game that makes it so that there's a 0.05% chance a fan tries to jump the rail and enter the ring.
