Dude look at the stats. The L86, RPD, and AUG all deal major damage. MG42 and M240 are much lower, but I've never had a problem using those. Again, you can't say any weapon in this game is bad. Certainly some excel in certain areas, but pretty much everything balances. LMGs are for tanks. They've got a huge magazine capacity so you can pin someone down for a while. Good bullet penetration too. And the RPD and AUG are super accurate. Some of the best iron sights in the game too. Slap a grip on them and you're laughing.
And come on, how do you fault them for not being great close quarters? That's like bitching out the shotguns for not being able to hit someone across the map. It's all in the user. Look at Icebox a couple of pages back, bitching about the silenced ACR. Practice. Everything has it's uses. When I first got COD4, I hated the M60 and the Mini Uzi with a passion. By the time MW2 came out, they were 2 of my favourite guns in the game. |
