List of awesome GBA games.
I skipped over the GBA era, so I haven't gotten much clue about what there is. I ordered a slot 2 flashcart for my DS so I can play some GBA titles. So far I have these on a list waiting to be downloaded.
Donkey Kong Country 1 Donkey Kong Country 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Doom Doom 2 Mortal Kombat Advance Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Mortal Kombat Tournament Edition Super Mario World Super Mario Bros. 3 Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. Mainly got it for ports of games I know. I hate RPGs and wrestling games. Share your thoughts. |

Oh, and I hear the DKC ports have been washed down. I've been very excited to play those until I found that out.

How do you feel about Fire Emblem? If you likey, there are a couple of GBA titles and I actually recommend you play Sacred Stones first, even though it's the newer of the 2 because it's more forgiving. Also, if you like those check out Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 1 & 2. Those titles are in the same vein (turn based strategy), but with mechs.
Also, http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/3...00?tab=summary Don't know if emulation Roms are what you use for that slot 2 flashcart or not, but this might help with the choices at the very least. |

I think so. I've never heard anything about two different types of roms.
You cannot just use a slot 2 device by itself, you need to link it with a slot 1 like a CycloDS (which is what I have). It's so worth it. The price of a CycloDS (which is the best flashcart out) is $47 shipped, which is the price of 2 games basically. Then you get the entire DS library. And what I'm doing is adding an EZ Flash 3in1, which is a slot 2 cartridge that has rumble, ram (for using internet browser), and plays GBA roms. $18.50 shipped. So for $65.50 I have everygame from the DS and GBA collections. |

Oh yeah I should mention that you'll need a MicroSDHC card for the Cyclo. That's where you put your roms. I have an 8gb ($15 @ newegg) and I have probably 75 games on mine and I still have 4gb free. My daughter has a 2gb and currently has 42 games. So, a 2-4gb would be plenty. I got one so big because I have lots of mp3's and porn (which the CycloDS does play).

Right so I was looking at the EZ 3 in 1 in that second link and they were aying some people report that it doesn't work with the original DS model, and only works with the DSLite. Can anyone confirm this?

K, new question: I just looked at that GBAtemp site's DS emulation guide thing, right? It says it's out of date right at the top, but I just wanna be sure... the CycloDS and EV 3 in 1 have the necessary software (minus the Roms) pre-loaded, right?

No, you have to download the current updated firmware.
For the Cyclo, it's cake. Drag and drop the update.evo file onto the microsdhc card and it'll take care of itself when you turn on your DS. v1.53 has come out since he made the video. As for the 3in1, I haven't received mine yet so I coudn't tell you. |

Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones is the best game for the GBA (I don't count any game previously released on the NES/SNES. Those all were good anyway).
Golden Sun wasn't too bad either. |

Fuck it, I'll just go by memory.
Extract the files into a folder. Go into your microsd card and create a folder named Skins in the CycloDS folder. Then put the downloaded skin folder into that. So, CycloDS - Skins - XXXXX I have a bunch of skins which gets cycled through everytime I turn it on. So you can pick however many you want. Just keep adding the folders in. Pretty sexified. Was just playing Retro Gaming Challenge after my pc rebooted due to a 5 second black out.
Perfect emulation on these. 75 DS games and 300 or so GBA titles. Fire Emblem is definitely the last title I'm ever buying for those 2 platforms. PS do you know of any other websites like www.replacementdocs.com? They don't have nearly enough manuals for DS and GBA. Most games have intro levels that explain shit, but some don't and the controls are a tad complex. Last edited by Funky Fly; 02-26-2009 at 12:42 AM. |

300 GBA games
I can't wait for my 3in1. I do not know of any websites like that. Infact, I didn't even know about that one. I need to bookmark that shit. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. |

If you play a lot of RPGs, make sure you take advantage of the Real Time Save and the In Game Text features. They are both awesome additions which helped me through Phantom Hourglass.

First, make sure RTS is enabled from the Cyclo's main menu (game, media, options). Then, hold select while you press A to select a game. A loading bar will pop up, which means you can release select. While in game, go to the Cyclo's in game menu (a+b+x+y+l+r) and then save or load your progress. You only have to hold select the first time on each game. And FYI, the file size is pretty big, so keep that in mind.
The text reader lets you view a walkthrough (or any text, really) while playing a game. It's been awhile since I've done it, but I think all you have to do is rename the text file (which you copy and paste from gamefaqs (duh, I know)) and rename the file to match the rom's name. Mario_Kart (U).nds Mario_Kart (U).txt Also make sure it is in the same directory as the rom. Then just bring up the Cyclo's in game menu and go from there. |

cool. Space is kinda limited so I may not use the save too much, but I def see potential with the in game text thing.

DS question: Is the DS Lite the one that supports MicroSD cards? My wife has the reg DS and I didn't see any way a MicroSD might work with that.
