"First things first, I want to offer a congratulations to Ted DiBiase on his victory here. He survived the championship chase and put up one hell of an effort here tonight. I also would like to apologize. I'd like to apologize to a lot of people actually. I'm sorry to the fans here in attendance, to the fans watching all over in their homes. I want to apologize to the announcers and to the WWE itself. And I especially want to apologize to you, Ted. You see, apparently I was misunderstood in regards to this championship chase. When I put this chase together after I vacated the title, I never said the winner of the chase would become the United States champion. It was simply a chase for the United States title. So, unfortunately Ted, even though you are the winner you are not the United States Champion. However, you have earned the right to wrestle for the title and since this is Night of Champions and every title is supposed to be defended here, you're getting that opportunity right now against....this man."

The next PPV is King of the Ring. Here the brackets for this year's tournament which is scheduled to kick off this week on Superstars.

The finals of the tournament, as always, will take place at the PPV where the winner will headline SummerSlam against their brand's champion. The only other scheduled match for right now is HHH vs. Edge for HHH's WWE Title after Edge won a battle royal on Raw after Night of Champions.

*marks out for Charlie Haas US Title win and KOTR*

I kinda wanted to bring back KOTR in my game, but I had JUST finished up a standard tourney so I went with the WWE World Cup instead

I always love doing King of the Ring every year. It gives me a ton of potential storyline possibilities and it's always challenging to pick out a different winner every year. I don't think I ever had a repeat winner. Plus I get to play around with this kick ass KOTR graphic. It's win-win all around!

Oh, and the Charlie Haas thing was a last minute thing. Evan Bourne was supposed to win the title during the feud but when I realized that I had drafted Haas and he was going to be ready go in the month of June I figured I'd pull out a curve ball and go with the whole 'title vacated' story. Now Ted has a fresh face to work with, Haas is an instant player on Raw, and Evan Bourne....uh....he.... I guess I didn't think this out too well. Eh, he can used in a story that's going to shape one of SummerSlam's matches. It's gonna be awesome. Stay tuned!!!

More revenue is a good thing but just try not to expand your roster too much. If you've got your upper-midcarders and main eventers wrestling on every other show or so, you should be good in terms of morale.

tbh, your best bet is to make all of your Main Eventers and Upper Midcarders into Managers. This way they don't lose morale if they are only used 1 in every 4 shows (a necessity when you run NXT which utilizes rookies and Superstars which utilizes lower-card guys)

That'd necessitate a restart after an assload of editing, though. I just usually go with the quick fix of lowering them down the card and then bringing them back up. Do NOT do this with workers who start the game as main eventers with 90+ overness or workers with a low attitude stat.

Nah. EWR 4.2 allows you to change anybody into a Manager with the push of a button

Does wonders for NXT in some instances. If the charisma of a WWE Pro is better than his rookie, I can just set him as his manager for the duration of the show. Well, at least until the Rookie Challenges start up again.

Well, the first round of the tournament is complete. Let's have a looksie at where everyone stands:

Sean Criss and Scott Blackmore battled to a time limit draw. On the following Raw, John Morrison made his return right before the match between Miz and Shelton Benjamin to chase off Miz in an attempt to get revenge for the assaults that cost him the WWE Title and a concussion respectively. Miz runs off and even drives away. The referee declares Benjamin the winner by forfeit and thus advances. However, Chris Sylvain comes out. He points out that he doesn't have a quarter-final opponent and thus is automatically in the semi-finals. Since he and Shelton are scheduled to face each other anyway and since Benjamin is still fresh and ready to go, Sylvain suggests having the match right then and there. This leads to a Chris Sylvain victory and thus he is in the finals of the tournament.

Other proceedings:
Victoria is happy she's the Diva's champion but points out that the Victoria of old wouldn't have needed so many chances to win the title off a tramp like Kim Roderick. She contemplates retirement but Roderick comes out to claim that Victoria's not getting off that easy and demands her rematch at a time and place of her own choosing.

Ted DiBiase beats Evan Bourne in a U.S. Title number one contendership match. DiBiase will face Charlie Haas at the KOTR PPV. Bourne had already talked about what went down at Night of Champions with Steve Austin and wonders if Austin thinks the roster is just there for his amusement. DiBiase is also cheesed at Austin and declares him unfit to be the GM.

Edge beats Randy Orton in a hardcore match to gain momentum.

AJ Styles is happy to hear that he'll be getting his title shot at King of the Ring. He is not happy when Jason Collins tries to beat the living piss out of him after his match on SmackDown!.

Jack Swagger attacks Batista during his match with Kane in retaliation to being humiliated by the Animal the previous week.

The teams of Mark Mason & Alex Furious and Garrett & Sean O'Haire battle to a draw and continue to cause anarchy. The Rock has a major announcement regarding the two teams next week.

The Rock has vowed to place security at ringside for all of Kofi Kingston's matches as a measure against the mysterious individual who has it in for Kofi. Ian Moore still proclaims innocence and has vowed to let what happened at Night of Champions slide. He's still owed a rematch against Cash Stevens for the Intercontinental Title and demands it at King of the Ring. Kofi in the meantime is suspicious of Shawn Michaels who is in the corner of Rhodes during their first round match.

Punk and MVP continue their feud.

Here's the updated King of the Ring card:
WWE Title: HHH (c) vs. Edge
World Heavyweight Title: Kane (c) vs. AJ Styles
King of the Ring Finals: Chris Sylvain vs. ???
WWE U.S. Title: Charlie Haas (c) vs. Ted DiBiase
WWE Intercontinental Title: Cash Stevens (c) vs. Ian Moore
John Morrison vs. The Miz

Who will join Sylvain in the KOTR Finals? What does the Rock have in store for the cruiserweights vs. heavyweights feud? Who else is upset with the way Austin has been running things on Raw? Will security be enough to help keep both Kofi's stalker at bay AND keep Kofi's violent attacks to a minimum? STAY TUNED!!!

JANUARY 17, 2005 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

“I'm ba-ack!” The show kicks off with WWE Chairman Eric Bischoff making his way to the ring. We're six weeks away from Superbrawl, and we've already got a handful of matches booked. Tonight's main event will feature the eight men who've already punched their tickets as World Champion Rhyno will team with WWE Champion The Rock, Intercontinental Champion John Cena, and Eddie Guerrero to take on their respective Superbrawl opponents Chris Jericho, Christian, Tajiri, and Cruiserweight Champion Matt Hardy Version 2.0. And, just because he feels like shaking things up as the Road to WrestleMania 21 rolls on... whoever takes the fall tonight is out of the Elite! Bah Gawd, Steve! Can you believe it?!?

Since joining the Natural Born Ministry, Haas has seemingly turned his career around. Betraying his longtime friend and partner Shelton Benjamin has given him new life, including a spot in the final four of the Royal Rumble eight days ago. Tonight, he teams with his new mentor Sean O'Haire to take on Benjamin and a man who knows a thing or two about O'Haire... A-Train! Decent tag match with all four guys getting in their spots. Eventually, though, O'Haire gets the better of Benjamin with the Prophecy to pick up the win. Afterwards, both teams brawl into the crowd and this is clearly far from over!

Chris Benoit is backstage, and he's holding his Money In The Bank briefcase that he won at King of the Ring last June. He talks about waiting. He's sat on this title opportunity for more than half a year, and he's prepared to sit and wait even longer. Because he's gone his entire career hearing people say that he'd never make it to that “next level.” He was too small to fight with the heavyweights. He was too big to fight the cruisers. He was too technical to catch on in WWE. But he outlasted 31 of the top superstars in the company (including a win in the finals against the current WWE Champion) last summer, and soon, very soon, he's going to cash in and do what everyone knew he never would. Because it took Eric Bischoff believing in him and making him a charter member of the Elite to light this fire under him, but soon enough he'll have no choice but to start building the entire company in his image. And he can't wait to prove. You. Wrong.

Last week, Paul London's RAW debut was interrupted by the Ministry's rookie monster Damien, who was thrilled to have some “new meat.” Tonight, they go one-on-one, and the winner will be the #1 contender for the United States Title! London looks good in his first official RAW match, but he eventually – like so many others before him – falls victim to Damien's brutal chokeslam.

Eric Bischoff appears on the TitanTron and announces that Damien has earned himself a date with U.S. Champion Rey Mysterio at Superbrawl! Damien flashes a demonic grin. He just devoured one cruiserweight, and in six weeks, he gets a shot at another!

Two of the hardest-hitting superstars in WWE go at it next as Rob Van Dam takes on Brock Lesnar, and they don't disappoint! RVD gets a hot nearfall after a frankensteiner off the top rope. Lesnar gets one after a sick jumping powerbomb. Eventually, RVD goes for one of his back kicks, but Lesnar ducks it and rolls him up... grabbing a handful of tights! The ref misses the tights and awards Lesnar the cheap pinfall victory! RVD jumps Lesnar after the bell for a measure of revenge and drives him to the ramp.

RVD asks for the ringside mic, and he tells Lesnar that if he wants to try to prove that he's still in that upper tier by making an example of somebody, he picked the wrong guy. What do you say we do this again at Superbrawl? Lesnar accepts, and we've got another big match!

We heard from Chris Benoit earlier, and he's in action next against Rey Mysterio (who we now know will face Damien at Superbrawl). Fantastic match with lots of high-flying and high-impact offense. Unfortunately, the ending is marred by the interference of Matt Hardy Version 2.0, who blasts Mysterio with a steel chair, resulting in a disqualification. After the match, the two heel Elite members go to work on Rey!

Eddie Guerrero is backstage, and he cuts a promo about Tajiri. Tajiri did a number on him last week on RAW, and their issue is clearly far from over. Eddie may not be 100%, but he's excited to be in the same ring as Tajiri tonight and to get a little measure of revenge!

Back from break, Vitamin C are already in the ring for our main event, and they cut a promo on their main-event opponents. Mostly comedy stuff, but these guys are both gold on the mic, and they sell their respective feuds and the match itself.

The main event is, as you would probably expect, a little bit of a clusterfuck trying to build up the respective matches for Superbrawl. Cena got his hands on Tajiri, Eddie brawled with Hardy, and Rhyno and The Rock both got their hands on Jericho, though Christian managed to elude The Rock. Nobody wanted to give up their slot in the Elite (and, with it, the right to appear on both RAW and SmackDown!), which led to some unusual teamwork. Eventually, though, The Rock managed to get himself alone in the ring with the Cruiserweight Champion, and drove Matt Hardy Version 2.0 out of the Elite with the Rock Bottom!

JANUARY 21, 2005 - SMACKDOWN!

It's a big night of action on SmackDown! tonight as the participants in the Superbrawl main event square off in a pair of singles matches. Last week, Christian put on a great match with the World Champion Rhyno. Tonight, he faces off against WWE Champion The Rock! Meanwhile, Rhyno takes on Chris Jericho! Plus, several huge tag matches including a fatal fourway for the World Tag Team Titles!

We open things off with cruiserweight action as Funaki takes on Carlito. Exciting back-and-forth action between two men who seem unfortunately mired in the cruiserweight midcard. As the match draws to a close, Funaki hits a big flying reverse elbow for two. He plays to the crowd and attempts a big legdrop, but Carlito moves and clamps on his inverted figure-four for the submission win.

Two weeks ago, Ron Simmons made a shocking return, only to come up short against his former partner John Layfield. Tonight, Layfield goes one-on-one against John Morrison and Simmons is the guest referee! Morrison uses his speed while Layfield counters with power. Eventually, Layfield takes control with some brawling, then rolls Morrison up and Simmons fast-counts him! After the match, Morrison confronts Simmons, only to eat a big forearm and Simmons' trademark running tackle. The APA has reunited!

After the break, Dave Batista is in the ring awaiting his next match when Rico Constantino appears on the TitanTron. Teddy Long surprised Rico when he brought back his old rival Batista as the crown jewel of his Metro Connection, but Rico's gonna bring this to an end at Superbrawl. He issues a challenge, and the new Nature Boy readily accepts!

Bats' opponent tonight is Nova. Nova puts on an admirable show, but Batista is so fired up after the confrontation with Rico that he controls most of the contest, picking up the win with the Batista Bomb.

Eddie Guerrero is backstage warming up for his big fatal fourway World Tag Team Title match, when he's again blindsided by the sadistic Tajiri! Tajiri pummels Eddie with a chair before walking off, leaving his rival laying.

Back from break, Jim Cornette and Dan Wilson announce that in a rare moment of fairness, WWE Chairman Eric Bischoff has declared that the belts will not be on the line as Los Guerreros take on the Dudley Boyz, Gunnstantino, and the team of Avery Thompson and Mark Henry. However, if any team but Eddie and Chavo wins the match, that team earns a shot at the gold next week! The heels work over Chavo early until Chavo manages to tag in Bubba Ray Dudley, and the Dudley Boyz work over Henry. Rico tags into the match and blasts Henry with a sick running dropkick in the corner for the pin, eliminating Henry and Thompson. Eddie Guerrero comes into the match for the first time, and he's clearly hurting from the attack by Tajiri. He's not in for long, but between him Chavo, and Bubba, they manage to overwhelm Rico, and Chavo Guerrero picks up the pin with a back heel kick off the second rope. Now it's down to Los Guerreros and the Dudley Boyz! This alone was worth the price of admission, so it's a good thing they'll get a straight-up match next week, because Bubba hits Chavo with the Bubba Cutter for the win!

Masked heroes Rey Mysterio and The Hurricane take on Brock Lesnar and Matt Hardy Version 2.0 in tag action next, just four days after Matt lost his spot in the Elite! Really good contest that showcases all four men's skills, but the ending is marred by the interference of Randy Orton, who again leaves Hurricane laying with an RKO! Orton's mission to become Elite continues at the Hurricane's expense! Lesnar picks up the pieces and covers him for the win.

Rhyno continues to prove that he is perhaps the most underrated wrestler in the industry, despite being the World Champion, and tonight's match with Chris Jericho is further proof. The crowd just adores everything these two do, and they almost blow the roof off the place as Rhyno drops down into a crouch to set up the Gore! Out of nowhere, though, Chris Benoit's hand reaches into the ring and drags the champion out. On RAW, Chris Benoit said that he was very close to cashing in his Money In The Bank title shot, and he just proved how dangerous he can be! Canadian Violence begin to go to work on Rhyno, but Intercontinental Champion John Cena hits the ring to make the save.

Cena stands tall with the IC belt glaring at Benoit, not realizing that Jericho has slid back into the ring. He grabs the belt and lays Cena out with it! Jericho poses with the Intercontinental Title over Cena's prone body!

The second half of our huge double main event is next as The Rock takes on Christian! Christian still holds the right to challenge either Rock or Rhyno at WrestleMania and still refuses to make that announcement. But, just like his epic encounter with Rhyno last week, Christian has proven he belongs in the main event against either one of them. The ending of this match is ruined the same way as the last, though, as Benoit once again inserts himself in the match by tripping The Rock. The ref calls for the bell, and now it's Benoit and Christian's turn to work over the champ. Rhyno hits the ring and helps drive off the heels.

The final image of the show, though, is of Rhyno going face-to-face with Christian in the middle of the ring. Who would have thought a year ago that this might wind up being the main event of WrestleMania 21?!?

WWE Superstars – July 29, 2010

Some SmackDown action kick us off as “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters takes on David “A-List” Otunga. Pretty much a shitty match that sees Otunga pick up the win with his dangerous (quite literally) Spinebuster. Shad Gaspard climbs into the ring afterward and hits Masters with a Big Boot for good measure.

The Raw Divas are in action next as the ever-annoying Jillian Hall squares off with Divas champion Natalya. Pretty good by divas standards as Natalya shows everybody why she is the champ. Jillian taps out to a Sharpshooter.

Back over to SmackDown as we have a special double main event tonight on Superstars! We had a tag team match pitting Dolph Ziggler and “The Uncommon Man” Cody Rhodes facing Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio. Throughout the match we were reminded on commentary that on next week’s SmackDown, each man will fight their tag partner tonight in matches to determine the final man to advance from their respective groups. Really good tag action here sees Ziggler pull Rey out of the ring as he attempted a 619, as Rhodes capitalizes with a Cross Rhodes on Hardy for the win.

“The Long Island Loudmouth” Zack Ryder waited in the ring. His opponent was none other than John Cena, making a rare Superstars appearance (which later confused the fans when Cena cut a video promo saying he wasn’t at the arena during Raw) Anyway, Cena makes good on his promise to begin running through the whole roster (even if those comments hadn’t been taped yet) as he wins following an Attitude Adjustment. However, it was a very good showing for Ryder who appears to be about ready to step up to the next level.

WWE SmackDown – July 30, 2010

Our opening contest was supposed to be a World Cup Group A match between Drew McIntyre and Vance Archer, but McIntyre opted to forfeit, citing that it was a pointless match and he needed his energy for the Round of 16. As such, Drew finishes Group Play at 2-1 and Archer at 1-2. Theodore Long comes out and tells Drew that he didn’t wrestle last week and he’s not getting another night off. He’s found a different opponent – Christian! And that match will be right now.

McIntyre protested, still in his street clothes. Nevertheless, the match went on as Christian teed off on the unprepared McIntyre. Christian finished it off with a Killswitch
and a clean pin of the Intercontinental champion.

The Straight Edge Society was out next. CM Punk said that the group had 3 matches tonight, and they would show the entire world why straight edge means they’re better than you. Serena’s match was up first as she made her in-ring debut against Kelly Kelly. Serena’s training seems to have paid off as she has a good showing and pins Kelly following a fireman’s carry gutbuster. Women’s champion Beth Phoenix gave Serena a nod from the rampway, Serena made good on her promise last week that she’d be gunning for the title.

Group C action as two guys who have already been mathematically eliminated fight for respect in MVP and Chavo Guerrero. Good little match that sees MVP grab the win with the Playmaker and get in the win column, finishing 1-2. Chavo goes 0-3.

Tag team action as Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury face off against Darren Young and Percy Watson, the South Beach Boys. The new team show some impressive athleticism before the Straight Edge disciples ground them. Young is knocked to the outside as Gallows holds back Watson. Watson ducks, causing Mercury to dropkick Gallows in the teeth and send him to the outside. Watson connects with a floatover DDT to Mercury for the win.

Group D next as Finlay tries to salvage a victory against Bryan Danielson. Fucking awesome match here, really all that needs to be said. Crowd reaction is only 64% though despite both guys having overness in the 80s. I knew heel vs. heel matches always bombed, but never before have I noticed face vs. face bombing too. Damn. Anyway, Danielson stays on a roll by making Finlay tap to the Cattle Mutilation as he goes 3-0 in his group. Despite three valiant efforts, Finlay has an 0-3 record to show for it.

Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler get into a slight debate backstage over who will win the final Group D spot between them next week. Big Show shows up and gets in Cody’s face, saying he used cheap tactics to beat him on Superstars last week. Rhodes and Ziggler, despite being opponents next week, shockingly gang up on Big Show and leave him laying backstage. Both guys run away before Show can recover.

Group B action as Kofi Kingston and CM Punk meet, both men having already clinched spots in the Round of 16. Another very good back and forth match that the crowd enjoys. Gallows and Mercury run out to try and repent for their earlier loss. Christian and Bryan Danielson, also Round of 16 participants, run out and thwart the Society’s attempts to get involved. The chaos on the outside distracts Punk, who walks into a Trouble in Paradise. Kingston goes 3-0 while Punk finishes at 2-1.

Throughout the night, it was said that Jack Swagger had a major announcement. Swagger calls out Kane. Swagger did a lot of thinking about how Kane challenged him to exercise his rematch clause, well he’s gonna finally do it….at SummerSlam! Kane simply laughs all evil-like again before the stage erupts into flames! Kane turns around surprised as Swagger snatches the World Heavyweight Title from out of Kane’s hand and he blasts Kane in the face with it. Swagger stands above Kane and holds the title aloft, a sight we may very well see again come SummerSlam.

King of the Ring 2014 Results!!!

Charlie Haas defeated Ted DiBiase to retain the WWE U.S. Title.

Ian Moore defeated Cash Stevens to win the WWE Intercontinental Title for the third time.

Cash Inc. defeated Sean O'Haire & Garrett and Mark Mason & Alex Furious in a triple threat tag team match to retain the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles.

The Miz beat John Morrison by DQ when Morrison decides to, in essence, go nuts on the guy. They brawl to the back and Morrison causes Miz to drive off again.

Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Jack Swagger defeated Shawn Michaels, MVP, and Batista when Rhodes pinned Michaels.

Chris Sylvain defeated Kofi Kingston to win the 2014 King of the Ring tournament after the Hooded Stranger interfered. This gives indication that Sylvain flat out lied when he 'confessed' to being the one responsible for Kingston's misery.

HHH defeated Edge to retain the WWE Title.

Jason Collins defeated AJ Styles and Kane to win the World Heavyweight Title for the fourth time.

Overall rating: 91

Here's the entire tournament:

Onto SummerSlam!!!

WWE Raw – August 2, 2010

World Cup Group B action kicks us off tonight as Zack Ryder takes on Tyson Kidd. This bout is highly competitive and gets the crowd going. Ryder grabs the win following a Zack Attack. Kidd finishes group play at 0-3, while Ryder goes 2-1. Shawn Michaels announces that since three Group B participants finished with 2-1 records, we’d have a triple threat match right now, with the superstar taking the fall or submitting not advancing to the Round of 16.

Zack Ryder can’t believe he has to wrestle another match right away, especially against two great talents like Evan Bourne and John Morrison. This was a really fun, fast-paced match with plenty of nearfalls. Bourne shoves Morrison off the top to the outside before climbing the top rope himself. As the ref goes to check up on Morrison, Primo runs out and crotches Bourne on the top turnbuckle. Zack Ryder capitalizes with a top-rope Zack Attack. Against all odds, Ryder had won back-to-back matches. Ryder and Morrison advance to the Round of 16.

Group A wraps up as Goldust goes up against Chris Jericho. Good match from these two as per usual. Goldust nearly gets the huge upset but Jericho powers out and connects with a Codebreaker soon thereafter to advance. Jericho finishes group play at 2-0-1 while Goldust goes 1-2.

The Miz is looking to make an impact when the Round of 16 starts next week, but he had the chance to make an even bigger impact tonight against John Cena. Much like the previous match, The Miz had people think that the huge upset was going to happen, but it was not to be. Miz puts on a great showing, but still submits to the STF. After the match, Cena reminded everybody of his ongoing quest to run through the roster until he proves himself worthy of another title shot.

Group D wraps up with a match between David Hart Smith (accompanied by Tyson Kidd and Natalya) and William Regal (accompanied by Vladimir Kozlov). This was a very good technical match throughout the duration. Kozlov, Regal’s associate, started attacking Tyson Kidd. This distracted Smith, who got rolled up by Regal (who then hooked the tights). That’s the second time Smith has lost in this fashion. Nevertheless, Regal finishes group play at 2-1 to advance to the Round of 16, while Smith finishes at 1-2.

The 8th and final Raw participant in the Round of 16 was up for grabs in a Group C match between R-Truth and Justin Gabriel. Another good match, continuing a promising trend. Truth picks up the victory, albeit unknowingly benefitting from interference from the man who last week helped attack Gabriel on behalf of Primo. Truth advances at 2-1 while Gabriel goes 1-2. A brawl breaks out between Gabriel, Evan Bourne, Primo, and his associate.

Edge was thrilled to see that Shawn Michaels had booked another Triple H vs. Sheamus match for tonight, but his optimism went away when he was told he would be facing Randy Orton next week. He let his displeasure show as he interfered (a common theme tonight) in the main event, sufficiently distracting Triple H. Triple H then walked right into a Brogue Kick as Sheamus picks up a huge win, getting revenge for his PPV loss.

Sheamus takes off and Edge laughs at ringside. However, Randy Orton comes from behind and throws Edge into the ring. Edge eats a Pedigree as Triple H gets some revenge on Edge for costing him the match. Orton stands over the downed Edge and teases a MITB cash-in. He starts lining up for a punt but Edge spots it and manages to escape. Orton and Triple H pose on the turnbuckles to end the show.

WWE NXT – August 3, 2010

Tonight would be a big night on NXT, as all 8 rookies would compete in one-on-one action throughout the night. After all was said and done – we’d have our first rookie challenge – the Talk the Talk challenge! Whoever wins it will get a match against the WWE Pro of their choice next week.

The undefeated Eli Cottonwood started us off against the winless Joe Hennig. Despite being outmatched size-wise, Hennig continued his trend of putting on a great performance and nearly scoring the upset. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as a Chokeslam sealed his fate, sending Cottonwood to 4-0 while Hennig went to 0-4.

Last week, Alex Riley sucker-punched Johnny Prime. Tonight was Prime’s chance for revenge as the two squared off. After a good athletic contest, Jack Swagger attempts to distract Prime. Finlay keeps him at bay while sliding a shillelagh into the ring. Prime connects with a shillelagh shot and grabs his first NXT win while heel Michael Cole bitches at ringside that A-Ri got screwed even though his pro started it. Prime and Riley both have 1-2 records.

Titus O’Neill continues to impress in his match against Donny Marlow. After a decent enough brawl, O’Neill grabs the victory with a unique spinebuster bomb. After the match, Sheamus connects with a Brogue Kick to Marlow. Sheamus is coaching his rookie straight to the top! O’Neill’s record is now 3-1 while Marlow falls to 0-4.

Much like the opening contest, our main event pits an undefeated guy (Kaval) against a guy looking for his first win (Drake Brewer). The two mismatched rookie/pro pairings come into play. Kaval appears to have Brewer finished off, but Ted DiBiase instructs him that rather than use his own moves, Kaval should learn from the best and use DiBiase’s moves. The two get into a shouting match as Goldust talks to his rookie on the other side of the ring. Brewer’s had enough of it and in a unique spot he throws Goldust over the ropes into the ring and uses him as a battering ram against Kaval, all while the ref was preoccupied with DiBiase. Brewer gets a quick roll-up on the stunned Kaval to get into the win column at 1-2. Kaval tastes defeat for the first time and goes to 3-1.

The Talk the Talk challenge is quite entertaining in a weird sort of way. The eight rookies discussed the most random topics, and in the end Kaval and Joe Hennig get the most fanfare. They hold a tiebreaker round. Kaval gets a decent response with his subject of masking tape, saying he’d like to tape DiBiase’s mouth shut. Hennig gets the topic of gum. Rather than say anything, Hennig heads to the top rope and executes his dad’s patented “gum spit and swat” move to perfection. That gets a huge ovation, enough to give him the win.

With the first Pro’s Poll coming at the end of next week’s show, Hennig says he needs to make an impression. So as for the WWE Pro he’s going to face next week, he wants a re-match with Jack Swagger! That’s gonna be awesome. Swagger laughs it off and shakes his head while Hennig sports a cool and collected grin to end the show.

JANUARY 24, 2005 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

WWE.com announced over the weekend that a round robin-style tournament would be held over the next five weeks with six of the top contenders for the United States Title going at it. The best records will face off at Superbrawl for a title shot at WrestleMania! Add to that Rhyno and Eddie Guerrero against Christian and Tajiri, a huge tag team main event between Canadian Violence and the team of John Cena and The Rock, plus a challenge from Brock Lesnar, and tonight's RAW looks like it's going to be off the charts!

The tournament kicks off as La Resistance's Rene Dupree takes on the Natural Born Ministry's Haas! Decent contest, but the crowd didn't care much for the heel-heel matchup, so it lost some luster. Haas picks up the win with the Haas of Pain to start 1-0 while Dupree now starts in an 0-1 hole.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is our second tournament match as two of RAW's most popular mid/upper midcard Superstars go one-on-one. A-Train and Paul London get a much bigger reaction than our opening contest. Train uses his power while London uses speed to put on a fun match. London looks like he's on the verge of a win after a big huracanrana, but as A-Train reverses an Irish whip, London winds up running right into a chair being held by his rival Damien! London staggers forward into the Derailer, and A-Train picks up the win! Damien comes into the ring to continue the beating, but A-Train realizes what's happened and hits him with a Derailer out of frustration. Obviously, Train didn't want to win this way, but he's off to a 1-0 start while London falls to 0-1.

London grabbed a microphone after the loss and basically cuts a "What is your problem?!?" promo on Damien. London still doesn't get why Damien has continually assaulted him since his RAW debut, and he especially doesn't get why Damien keeps going after him when he's got his match against Rey Mysterio at Superbrawl. (Yeah, it's almost like I'm building a long-term story between these two).

The first round of matches comes to an end next as Shelton Benjamin takes on a man who has done a lot to make his life miserable lately, the leader of the Natural Born Ministry, Sean O'Haire. It's a little depressing to think of how far Sean O'Haire has fallen since his World Title reign last year, but he can still put on damn good matches, especially when he's in there with a wrestler the caliber of Benjamin. Eventually, Shelton picks up a big win with the Dragon Whip to start 1-0 and put O'Haire down 0-1. There are still four weeks left, but Shelton is looking like a frontrunner!

Back from commercial, and Shelton's former college teammate Brock Lesnar's music hits. He comes to the ring and grabs a microphone. He starts off by cutting a promo on his Superbrawl match with Rob Van Dam. He says that he decided that the best way to prepare for RVD is to go back to the beginning, to where it all started for Mr. Monday Night. So, now for the next several weeks, Brock's going to run through any ECW original he can get his hands on!

The first victim is... a debuting Axl Rotten! Rotten comes to the ring to a good nostalgia pop, but he walks right into a piledriver and an F-5 and Brock picks up a quick squash win! After the match, RVD comes out for a measure of revenge and lays Brock out with a chairshot!

Rey Mysterio is backstage, and he has questions. Like Paul London, he doesn't understand what's happening. Matt Hardy has a big match with Eddie Guerrero at Superbrawl, and Rey has one against Damien. So why does Matt keep attacking him on SmackDown!?

Much like we imagine TNA will be in 2010, those questions will remain unanswered and we just move on to a new segment. This time, it's World Champion Rhyno teaming with one-half of the World Tag Team Champions Eddie Guerrero against Tajiri and Royal Rumble winner Christian! Two budding rivalries collide in this big tag match that absolutely tears the roof off of the arena! The heels pick up the win and the momentum when Christian plants Eddie with an Unprettier.

Before our big main event, Chris Jericho is out to cut a promo on his rivalry with Intercontinental Champion John Cena. Basically just reminding viewers for whom the last three days has seemed more like 31 that they're feuding and both awesome on the mic.

Our main event gets a 96 rating for crowd reaction and 90 for the match quality, and why shouldn't it? Cena, Rock, Benoit, and Jericho can all go and they show it tonight. Lots of near falls, and Benoit whips out a Tiger Driver '91 at one point. Eventually, The Rock picks up the clean win for his team by hitting Benoit with the Rock Bottom! After the match, Canadian Violence get some revenge by jumping the babyfaces, driving them from the ring.

The WWE Champion grabs a microphone from ringside and tears into Benoit. Benoit talks a big game about cashing in his title shot at any time. So why doesn't he just do it already? The Rock knows that Benoit is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but he also knows that he's absolutely crazy. He just hopes that Benoit can get his act together long enough for Rock to lay him out and take that briefcase, turn it sideways, and shove it straight up his candy ass! He then leads a crowd singalong in his catchphrase, and RAW goes off the air.

JANUARY 28, 2005 - SMACKDOWN!

Last week, Ron Simmons turned on John Morrison to align himself with his former tag team partner John Layfield, reforming the APA. Tonight, Morrison looks for revenge, and he's bringing Joey Matthews. It's M'n'M versus the APA for a shot at the World Tag Team Titles! Simmons has definitely lost a step, and it plays a big part in this match's rating unfortunately. Matthews tries for a suplex, but Layfield catches him with a low blow while Simmons has the ref's attention and turns it into a small package for the cheap win. After the match, the teams brawl up the aisle and out of sight, but the APA have earned the title shot!

At Superbrawl, "Nature Boy" Dave Batista will be going one-on-one with his old rival Rico Constantino, but tonight Rico's partner Billy Gunn will look to slow the monster's momentum. He puts up a great fight, but Batista's manager Theodore Long distracts him at an opportune moment, allowing Bats to hit the Batista Bomb and pick up the win. After the match, Rico's music hits, and he makes the save, preventing any further damage.

WWE Women's Champion, the Elite Diva Mickie James is backstage, and she cuts a promo. Basically reminding us that she still exists and is still, in fact, Elite. Unfortunately there are no Divas on SmackDown! for her to fight, so... uh, hi!

Monday night, Brock Lesnar decimated Axl Rotten after vowing to squash his way through the ECW Originals on his way to his Superbrawl match with Rob Van Dam. Tonight, Lesnar faces Nova, a superstar on the verge of stardom. Nova puts on a much better showing than did Rotten, but he too eventually falls victim to the F5. After the match, Lesnar jumps Nova in the aisle with a brutal clothesline and a series of stomps. Brock Lesnar looks like a man possessed!

The Dudley Boyz won a fatal fourway last week to earn a shot tonight at Los Guerreros' World Tag Team Titles. We now know the winners of this match will have to take on the APA next week on SmackDown! The two most popular teams on SmackDown! put on a great match, and Eddie Guerrero looks like he's about to secure a successful defense after hitting Bubba Ray with a frogsplash, but Tajiri hits the ring out of nowhere to cause the disqualification. Tajiri continues the beating for a moment before fleeing in the face of the other three.

Chris Benoit and Christian are backstage. Chris Benoit has been sitting on a title opportunity for seven months, while Christian will get his in less than two. The co-contenders cut a promo about Rhyno and The Rock, saying that their time as champions is quickly coming to an end. Christian does most of the talking while Benoit seems much more interested in his Money In The Bank briefcase.

Rico Constantino makes his second appearance of the night as he faces off against Randy Orton in a battle of two of SmackDown!'s top upper-midcarders. Great match between the two ends with Orton hitting the RKO for the clean win. After the match, The Hurricane comes down with a chair and blasts Orton with it, continuing their feud.

Speaking of great matches, our next contest is an exciting high-flying affair between The Hurricane and Chris Jericho. Tremendous contest that sees Hurricane nearly pick up the win with his Shining Wizard, but Randy Orton breaks up what could have been the winning pinfall, resulting in a DQ. After the match, Orton and Jericho double-team Hurricane until Intercontinental Champion John Cena comes sprinting down the aisle to drive off the heels.

World Champion Rhyno and WWE Champion The Rock are backstage in a near-mirror-image of the Benoit/Christian promo from earlier. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that these four will be involved in the WrestleMania title matches, but who will face who and what condition will everyone be in with as much time as there is to tear each other apart?

Two men who held the WWE Title last year go head-to-head next as Cruiserweight Champion Matt Hardy Version 2.0 takes on Intercontinental Champion John Cena! Hardy is still trying to climb back into the Elite, and he puts on a great showing against Cena but - like so many matches tonight - it's marred by interference. Cena wins by disqualification after Chris Jericho gets involved. Rey Mysterio makes the save with a chair, saving Cena from too much damage at the hands of Jericho and Hardy.

Tonight's main event is a definite contender for Match of the Year as Rey Mysterio and Tajiri put on an absolute classic! Rey gets a great nearfall with a flying cross body, and Tajiri gets one with a second-rope back heel kick. Great back-and-forth action until Matt Hardy Version 2.0 takes out Rey with a chair, allowing Tajiri to roll him up for the cheap win. After the match, Eddie Guerrero makes the save and the best friends stand tall as SmackDown! goes off the air.

People are using programs like EWR or TEW (one of many versions) to manage their own promotion for ratings and things competing against other promotions.

Update time:

Stuff leading to SummerSlam
Edge challenges Randy Orton to a feud-ending match after the Viper mocks him for his loss against HHH at King of the Ring. Orton gets to pick the stipulation otherwise it's no dice. He settles on an I Quit Match. Both men vow to walk out the better man at SummerSlam.

Evan Bourne's additional testimony against the reign of Steve Austin as GM gives Ted DiBiase enough backing to present his case to the Board of Directors. Austin challenges him to be a man about things. DiBiase, insulted, challenges Austin to a match at SummerSlam. Austin denies the request and walks away. However, over on SmackDown!, the continued unrest of the SmackDown! locker room over the Rock's lack of control over the Kofi Kingston situation along with the Rock forcing Cody Rhodes into another confrontation with Shawn Michaels (where Michaels is hospitalized), inspires Rhodes and DiBiase to trick both Austin AND the Rock in the ring on Raw where the two Legacy teammates decimate the two general managers and challenge them both two a tag match at SummerSlam. The Board of Directors makes the match official naming it the Three Wishes Match. If Rhodes and DiBiase win, they are each allowed to make three demands from their respective GMs that cannot be refused under penalty of termination. If Austin and Rock win, they are allowed three decisions each that cannot be rebuked by the Board or challenged by Rhodes and DiBiase.

Mr. Kennedy wants to form an alliance with Shelton Benjamin believing the two share a bond as two great former champions who constantly get shafted. Benjamin rebukes him under the belief that he got to the top without someone attached to his hip. The two agree to settle things at SummerSlam.

John Morrison wants The Miz in the worst way even after practically destroying the Awesome One at King of the Ring. Miz agrees to a rematch but only under the condition that Morrison is fired if he goes off the deep end again and gets DQ'ed.

Chris Sylvain's victory at King of the Ring allows him to challenge HHH for the WWE Title at SummerSlam. He claims he only confessed to being behind Kofi's mishaps because he was asked to by the real anonymous mastermind. The two made a deal; Sylvain would confess in order to get the security removed from ringside and the mystery man would ensure Sylvain's victory at King of the Ring. Sylvain admits that he doesn't really know who this person is but quite frankly he doesn't care as he now has what he wants. He and HHH go back and forth over the coming weeks about being the top star on Raw. Sylvain even goes as far as to claim that it won't be a match at SummerSlam; it'll be the most brutal passing of the torch ceremony in history.

SmackDown!:
Kane turns heel on newly crowned champion Jason Collins with the justification that Collins betrayed him by taking the World Title at King of the Ring. Kane could've cashed in Collins anytime but he didn't and now he paid the price for actually showing mercy. The two vow to destroy each other at SummerSlam.

Ian Moore defends his WWE Intercontinental Title in a feud-ending cage match against Cash Stevens on the SmackDown! after King of the Ring. He retains, however, immediately after the match, a returning Shad (who has last seen being wheeled off to the hospital at Judgment Day) assaults Ian Moore and then frantically hands a piece of paper to the referee. The referee talks with the announcer and the timekeeper. It is then announced that there will now be an Intercontinental Title match between Moore and Shad right now. Everyone is puzzled. Shad takes advantage of Moore's beaten state to pick up the win and the title. The next week Shad explains that he's had the right to challenge for the Intercontinental Title ever since he won a four way back in December but Kofi Kingston had knocked him out the night he was supposed to have his match. He got caught up in the business of Kofi but always kept his title shot in his back pocket for a rainy day. Moore immediately demands his rematch and receives it. However, Kofi Kingston storms in from the back and assaults Ian Moore during the match and causes a DQ. Kingston pulls out a hood and claims he found it in Moore's locker room. The next week, Moore claims he's had enough of Kofi. He questions Kofi's belief that Moore is responsible for all of his misery. If it had been Moore and he had hired Shad to act on his behalf, why would Shad return and rob him of the Intercontinental Title? Moore says it doesn't matter because he's taking matters into his own hands. He wants Kofi Kingston at SummerSlam. If Kofi's mission to beat the truth out of everyone on SmackDown!, it's Moore's mission to beat some sense into Kofi. Kofi comes out and tries to apologize but Moore shoves it back in his face claiming his paranoia has gotten the better of him and his narrow-mindedness is going to cost him. Moore doesn't care anymore if Kofi believes him or not. At SummerSlam, it's about setting things straight.

Jack Swagger is challenged by Batista to a match. Swagger accepts under the belief that his all-around wrestling style is more than a match for Batista's power game. Swagger will be the apex predator on SmackDown! after SummerSlam.
