Who was your "Go To" wrestler in wrestling video games
I was watching a 2000 episode of WWF Metal and saw Essa Rios.
It reminded me of my reign of terror with Essa Rios in Smackdown 2. I was a big fan of "hott movez" so I played tons of campaigns with Rios. Last edited by Bad News Gertner; 10-20-2020 at 10:36 AM. |

For NWO VS WCW on N64 I'd always be Scott Norton because his power bombs almost always knocked out his opponents.

R.V.D., loved his moveset in the early Raw vs Smackdown games. Being able to do his finisher off the top of the pods in Elimination Chamber matches was just pure fun.

Usually Rock and Jericho.
Think I used RVD the most for WrestleMania X8 and ECW Hardcore Revolution. Don't remember having a preferred guy for WCW/NWO Revenge. Maybe DDP although that's more in regards to recent years of playing the game and not back in the day. |

WCW vs. The World I was always Black Ninja.
The "Ninja Bomb" was quite devastating. |

I always hated how often you would get water bottles, roses, and microphones in No Mercy |

It was poking the eyes, not hitting the balls. And his special from behind was an abdominal stretch turned into a pin.

Brock Lesnar in Shut Your Mouth because you could climb up the SmackDown fist and there was a way to do an F5 in just the right place that the opponent is thrown off the fist head first.

I used liked using Test in HCTP because of his Big Boot finisher. Loved running around nailing people with it during Royal Rumbles

In WWF No Mercy 64 I would always pick Viscera and spam the same moves to annoy the kid who played it with me. I didnt have an N64 and he moved next school year. I bet it's because he got tired of playing with Viscera every weekend.

Visited my brother at college in like 2007. One of his buddies heard I played WrestleMania 2000 a lot and wanted to face me. I let him pick first - he picked Rock.
I pinned him with Kane in 3 minutes. He wanted a rematch, so I pinned him (he was Austin) as D'lo Brown in under 4 minutes. He left after that lol |

Rob Van Dam or Chris Benoit... I'd always change RVD's second finisher in HCTP to a Powerbomb that would put my opponent in position for the 5-Star after storingup multiple finishers.

"Big Sexy" Kevin Nash in WCW/NWO Revenge because of the jackknife powerbomb off the top turnbuckle.

When I was first learning how to play any WWE video game, I would always pick the wrestler who was at the bottom of the barrel so that way I wouldn’t disgrace any of the top guys with my newbie skills.

I remember some WWE game on SNES too and I was always Earthquake or Typhoon because in my kid mind they had a better chance against each other if I had to fight one of them. Later on in the Smackdown games I would also tend to use CAWs mostly because you could pack them with flashier moves and give them a better entrance than WWE would lol. If I was using a standard rassler though, I liked picking Orton a lot of the time across the whole series. In some of the earlier games it was Tazz a lot of the time. Sometimes pick Taker too for nostalgia purposes and the entrance lol. Same with Bray. |

For Wrestlemania 2000, I'd always use Chris Jericho.
Somewhere in an alternate Universe, the WWE would have spent most of 2000 having Jericho getting the better of Angle and Benoit, and then having Jericho's "phantom" win over Triple H later that year be legit. Jericho holds onto the belt until No Way Out 2001 where he drops the belt to The Rock in a face vs. face match. Jericho never turns heel and continues to be solid baby face while having "dissension but respect" with The Rock. At Survivor Series 2001, Jericho goes clean over The Rock and the two men shake hands. Austin (heel) defeats Angle, and cheats to defeat Jericho in the finals. Triple H returns in 2002 and after briefly feuding with Angle, goes onto feud with the nWo. Hunter goes up against Hall at Mania. The Rock vs. Hogan still happens. In the main-event at Wrestlemania 18, Jericho goes clean over Austin to win the title. Attitude era basically continues onwards with Jericho being the alpha. Jericho then passes the torch to Cena in 2006 (instead of Hunter). |
