DECEMBER 18, 2003 - SmackDown!

Christmas comes a week early for one of the participants in our opening contest as Scotty 2 Hotty takes on Nunzio for a spot in January's Royal Rumble match! Really good back-and-forth match to start the show that ends with Nunzio clamping on the Sicilian Crab to pick up the submission victory and a Rumble berth.

It's a Cruiserweight Division start to SmackDown, as our second contest also showcases two of the top names in that division as former champion Tajiri takes on Shannon Moore. Lots of near falls in this one, and Tajiri nearly knocks Shannon out with some stiff knees and kicks, and in the end he picks up the win with the Kick of Death.

Up next is a four-team elimination match to determine #1 contenders for the Dangerous Alliance's WWE Tag Team Titles next week. It's the Backstage Bullies against the World's Greatest Tag Team against the Basham Brothers against the FBI. The Bullies are the first to fall as Stamboli catches Holly with a bulldog for a three count. Next is the FBI, as Charlie Haas takes Stamboli off the top with a sick belly-to-belly. WGTT and the Bashams go back and forth with quick tags, but Danny Basham picks up a surprising second-straight victory for his team by spearing Sheton and hitting Haas with Brain Damage!

Rhyno is in the ring for his match, but first he wants the microphone. For the last week, he's been hearing nothing but "Where were you last week?" And the truth is, he wasn't himself last week. He's lost focus. You see, that should have been Rhyno costing Big Show the United States Title last week instead of Undertaker. No disrespect to Undertaker, but taking down the Dangerous Alliance was supposed to be his job. And that's why, starting tonight, no matter what it takes, I'm going to go through the members of the Dangerous Alliance one at a time until Paul Heyman finally gives me what I deserve - a shot at Brock Lesnar!

Billy Kidman has the unfortunate task of being Rhyno's opponent, and Rhyno basically squashes him. He manages to hit a couple of moves, but winds up eating a Gore for the loss. After the match, Rhyno chases him down in the aisle and continues to pummel him. He means business!

Up next is another qualifying match for the Royal Rumble as Edge takes on Billy Gunn. Edge hits a forearm, but Billy takes control for most of the early going until Edge manages to fight back with high-impact offense. Gunn gets some licks in, but in the end, he falls victim to the Edgecutioner, putting Edge in the Rumble!

In a match we've seen several times over the last three months but has yet to disappoint, Eddie Guerrero again teams with John Cena to take on Chavo Guerrero and Sean O'Haire. Chavo (who is still carrying around the United States Title he stole from his uncle Eddie last week) works over Eddie with his feet early before tagging in O'Haire for double-teaming. Cena comes in and begins to overpower his rival. Chavo tags back in, and so does Eddie, and Chavo pulls Eddie's tights to lie, cheat, and steal his way to another victory!

As Eddie fumes in the ring, Paul Heyman leads the Dangerous Alliance to the ring with him. Big Show and Brock Lesnar have a big tag-team main event coming up, but first Paul has an offer for Eddie. The Dangerous Alliance was built on one principle - domination. And last week for the first time, the Alliance came up short when it counted. Eddie Guerrero may have gotten lucky when Undertaker helped him beat Big Show for the United States Title, but a title victory is a title victory. Eddie, the Dangerous Alliance has controlled every title on SmackDown! for over two months, and we're not about to let that go. So, what do you say, Eddie? Do you want to help us keep the title in the fold? Do you want to join the Dangerous Alliance? Eddie thinks about it for a second, then laughs in Heyman's face. Bad idea, as he's quickly jumped by all five members of the D.A., who leave him laying.

It's time for match five in the best-of-seven series between Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio, with each man holding two victories over the other. Whoever wins tonight will be just one win away from a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble! Pretty much the same match they've been having for the last month, with Rey using high-flying moves and Benoit grounding him with power and technical expertise. Benoit nearly picks up the win with a reverse DDT/backbreaker combination, but blows a legdrop, which allows Rey to hit the West Coast Pop for the win!

Kurt Angle is on the microphone backstage. Short and sweet, tag team partners aside, tonight I'm gunning for you, Brock. Undertaker and Show can go on with their little rivalry, but tonight I'm going to make you tap! Just like I'm going to do at Armageddon. Oh, it's true. It's damn true!

Kurt Angle and Undertaker take on Big Show and Brock Lesnar in our big tag-team main event. Show pounds on UT to start, then tags in Lesnar. Double-team moves from the D.A teammates, and Lesnar continues th epunishment. Angle now tags in, and the participants in the Armageddon WWE Title match go at it. Lesnar takes a bit of an advantage, then tags in Show. Show kicks Angle into his own corner, and in comes Undertaker. Taker tries to roll up Show off the ropes, but Show rolls through and grabs the tights for a cheap win!

Next week, Rhyno continues his assault on the Dangerous Alliance as he takes on Big Show! Plus, if Rey Mysterio can beat Chris Benoit, he gets a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble! However, if Benoit wins, they go to a seventh match at Armageddon. Both Guerreros are involved in qualifying matches for the Royal Rumble, plus a Rumble preview pits the World's Greatest Tag Team against Billy Kidman and Nunzio. The Basham Brothers hope to continue their improbable winning streak against the Dangerous Alliance in an attempt to win back their WWE Tag Team Titles. Plus Holly versus Lesnar, Cena versus Edge, and Angle versus O'Haire. It's Christmas Day in World Wrestling Entertainment, and that killer card is our present to you! You don't want to miss it!

FEW Shockwave - July 15, 2009

---

The focus of tonight was on the tournament to crown a new FEW Television champion, with 4 randomly selected first round matchups from the field of 16.

We started it off with two tough guys and two faces, Lance Kade and "Hardcore" Bob Howard going head to head. A lot of stiff punches were exchanged before Kade really started to take control. A few fallaway slams, a stump piledriver, and finally the Redneck Bomb put Hardcore down for the count of three. Lance Kade advances.

As luck would have it, Lance Kade's partner Trevor Murdock was out for the next match...and if he could have the same kind of luck his partner did, they would be scheduled to face off in 2 weeks in the quarter-finals. But it was a non-issue, as his opponent wound up being Ted DiBiase Jr. Ted pretty much dominated this one and finished it off with the Million Dollar Buster to advance.

Cliff Compton took the time to rip into Chris Harris. He said he hopes the brackets work out so that he can embarrass Harris next week to advance in the tournament. Whether or not he actually wants any piece of Chris Harris remains to be seen, but we'll see how the brackets work out.

The impressive Steve Lewington is out next for our third first round bout of the evening, as he squares off against the Cuban Armando Castro. Castro takes control in the early going, downing Steve and using heel tactics to try to get ahead. But ever-resilient, Lewington comes firing back with a flurry of offense. Sidewinder, three count, and Lewington moves on in his quest to be the first FEW Television champion.

Our final first round match of the night had some international flair involved as Super Crazy took on Harry Smith. The crowd sat on their hands throughout this one, which is odd as Smith is growing in popularity and I thought Super Crazy was somewhat over. Oh well. In either event, Smith pays homage to his dad by putting Crazy away with a Running Powerslam. Lewington vs. Smith in two weeks, Brit vs. Brit.

Our show ends with a cryptic promo from Thorn. Despite receiving two title belt shots to the skull in the span of a week, that will not slow him down in his quest to become the champion. He beat King Nelson last week, and he dares Elijah Burke to give him another title shot. In fact, he will face anybody Burke wants to throw at him next week.

---

In next week's Shockwave, our final four first-round matchups to round out the quarter finals. Will Cliff Compton and Chris Harris get matched up together? And what does Elijah Burke have up his sleeve for Thorn?

FEW Shockwave - July 22, 2009

---

Cliff Compton entered to start the show, apparently for his first round match in the FEW Television Title tournament. As he paced in the ring, the crowd chanted "Wildcat", in hopes that Chris Harris would be his opponent. Instead, Val Venus' music hit and Compton smirked, apparently showing that he really didn't want to wrestle Harris. However, he made the mistake of taking the veteran Venus lightly, as Val came out hot right out of the gate. Still, Compton managed to persevere and hit the Cliff Hanger to advance in the tournament to the dismay of the crowd.

Chuck Palumbo had a tough task ahead of him next as he was assigned to wrestle the first-ever FEW champion D'Lo Brown in a tournament match. Another close bout throughout the early going. D'Lo eventually takes the advantage when Chuck Palumbo misses a clothesline. A bodyslam and swinging DDT by D'Lo left Palumbo laying on the mat. D'Lo climbed to the top turnbuckle and flew off, hitting the Lo Down. D'Lo advances in his quest to gain some more FEW gold.

Backstage, Elijah Burke trashes Thorn and vows to make him pay for his claim. Elijah decrees that he will give Thorn another title shot if he can defeat his REAL Wrestler mates, Jake Swagger and Zigg Nemeth, in a handicap match tonight.

In what was sure to be an exciting contest, Paul London met Colt Cabana next. "ROH" chants rang through the crowd as both men gave it their all with several series' of high-octane maneuvers. Loads of near falls as the crowd got really into it. London ascends for a 450 Splash...Cabana moves out of the way! London staggers to his feet having landed face first on the mat, Colt 45, Colt Cabana advances!

By process of elimination, our final first round contest pitted Chris Harris against Kenny Doane. Harris not only had his sights set on the FEW Television title, but he knew that if he won his next two matches and Cliff Compton won next week, he would be able to get his hands on him at the PPV in a semi-final match. Perhaps realizing just that, Compton made it a point to interfere. With Harris outside the ring and the referee admonishing Kenny inside the ring, Cliff rushed out and slammed Harris head-first into the steel steps! Kenny saw this and noticed the referee hadn't heard it as they were arguing. He jumps out of the ring, throws Harris in, climbs up top, Guillotine Leg Drop! Kenny Doane knocks off Chris Harris thanks to Cliff Compton! Cliff jumps back in and brutally attacks Chris Harris to the disgust of the crowd.

In our main event of the evening, Thorn certainly lived up to his promise as he took The REAL Wrestlers to the limit, flaunting his powerful offensive moves and offsetting the REAL Wrestlers' attempts at grounding him with submission holds. Seemingly bewildered by Thorn's dominance, Elijah Burke hopped up to the ring apron. Thorn hurled Jake Swagger through the ropes directly at Burke, senning Burke and Swagger crashing to the floor. This left Zigg Nemeth all alone to fall victim to the Crucifix Powerbomb. Thorn wins and earns himself a title shot!

---

With our main event for Fight Night set, what will happen between Elijah Burke and Thorn in our final Shockwave before the show? Also, the Elite 8 in the FEW Television Title tournament will be whittled down to the Final 4. Lance Kade vs. Ted DiBiase Jr., Steve Lewington vs. Harry Smith, Cliff Compton vs. D'Lo Brown, and Colt Cabana vs. Kenny Doane, all next week!

FEW Shockwave - July 29, 2009

---

We started off with British action as Harry Smith and Steve Lewington met in our first of four quarter-final matchups in the FEW Television Title tournament. Certainly a technically proficient bout, but in the end Harry Smith bests his countryman, winning via pinfall after a Running Powerslam. This is Lewington's first defeat and Smith advances to the semi-finals at Fight Night.

Lance Kade and Ted DiBiase Jr. was much more of a styles clash. Kade seemed to dominate the early portion of the match, but DiBiase managed to bounce back and planted Lance with the Dream Crusher. Ted DiBiase Jr. advances to Fight Night and he will face off against Harry Smith, a man he is certainly familiar with.

The popular Colt Cabana was next up, looking to stamp his ticket for Fight Night. Kenny Doane was there to spoil the party and advance himself, hopefully proving to the world that he didn't need Cliff Compton's help to advance last week. Well, he didn't do that, as Colt Cabana controlled most of the match and got the pinfall victory following a Colt 45.

Cliff Compton was backstage, once again taking shots at Chris Harris. He said Harris is at home, injured. And while he's licking his wounds, he can watch Cliff advance to Fight Night and become the first ever FEW Television champion, OHHH!!!

Cliff Compton vs. D'Lo Brown was certainly a main event quality contest, as both mens' styles really complimented one another and both are some of the more over guys in the company. Neither man could put the other down. Cliff Hanger, and D'Lo kicks out! Compton is beside himself, and he lays in some stomps. Chris Harris walks down the rampway! He was there afterall! Cliff sees him and gets distracted, screaming at him from the ring. Compton turns around, right into a Sky High! D'Lo advances to the roaring approval of the crowd. Harris isn't done yet, he jumps in the ring and the Wildcat goes wild on the '50s throwback. With Harris ready to go, will their paths cross at Fight Night?

Elijah Burke and Thorn have a heated confrontation in the ring to hype up their FEW Title match for Fight Night. Burke says that even though he managed to defeat his friends, he won't allow that to happen on Saturday. Burke even goes as far as to dare Thorn to hit him. The Vampire Warrior mulls it, the crowd wants him to, but Thorn declines, saying he wants no excuses when he wins the championship. The crowd pop for that, but then Elijah Burke cracks Thorn in the skull with the FEW belt for the 3rd time. The crowd reacts with angry boos as Burke poses with the title as we go off the air.

---

What will happen at Fight Night, FEW's first ever Pay-Per-View telecast? Harry Smith, Ted DiBiase Jr., Colt Cabana, and D'Lo Brown all look to become the first ever FEW Television champion, Cliff Compton and Chris Harris are sure to cross paths, Thorn challenges Elijah Burke for the FEW Championship, and much more!

DECEMBER 22, 2003 - Monday Night RAW

Just six days away from Armageddon, and tonight RAW announces the rest of that card. We figure out which two superstars will do battle for the vacant Intercontinental Title, four men will qualify for the Royal Rumble, and long-time rivals will compete in tag-team action!

The show opens with a Royal Rumble qualifying match pitting Hurricane against Boss Man. Boss Man has struggled in recent weeks, and tonight was really no exception. He manages to get in a couple of power moves, but Hurricane's speed was just too much, and he puts him away with the Shining Wizard to become the first RAW superstar to advance to the field of 30.

Up next is a match that promises to be a technical masterpiece as Lance Storm takes on William Regal! Excellent back-and-forth match ends with Regal taking the cheap way out and landing Power of the Punch for the victory.

The World Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz are out next for a match with La Resistance, but the titles aren't on the line tonight. The winners of tonight's match will both qualify for next month's Royal Rumble match. The Dudleyz control the early going, cutting Dupree off from his partner. When Grenier finally tags in, he blows an elbow drop, which allows the Dudleyz to take control. Dupree manages to get a tag back in, but eats a 3-D and Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley are going to the Rumble!

Backstage, Rico is just hanging out when he's approached by Val Venis. Venis goes off on him - "Why the hell are you stalking me? Don't you get it? I don't want anything to do with you! Stay the hell away from me!" Rico denies up and down that he had anything to do with Val being assaulted last week, but Val doesn't believe him and storms off.

And now the final chapter in what's been the most lackluster feud in all of World Wrestling Entertainment - Goldberg versus Kane. Tonight, there are two prizes at stake - a spot in the Royal Rumble... and your career! That's right, it's an I Quit match, where the winner gets a 1-in-30 shot at a title shot and the loser has to leave WWE! Yet another absolutely shitty match between the two ends when Kane improbably clamps on an ankle lock. Goldberg has no choice but to say the two words that no man ever wants to say, "I quit!" As the fans start to sing "Na na na na," Kane offers Goldberg a "Well, you tried your best" handshake. Goldberg looks at Kane's hand, spits on him, and walks away.

In six days, The Rock will face Triple H for the World Title, but tonight both men have picked tag-team partners. H will team with his Evolution mate Batista, while The Rock will face the man who has given Bats more than he can chew the last few weeks - Tommy Dreamer. The Armageddon opponents start the match, but Batista quickly tags in, and Evolution presses their advantage. Dreamer gets the hot tag and piledrives Batista and a big clothesline before Batista strikes him back. Both partners tag back in, and Triple H nails Rock with a neckbreaker, then hooks the tights during the pin and the ref doesn't see it! Cheap win for HHH just days before his title shot, but they're not done!

Our first semifinal match in the Intercontinental Title tournament is up next as Chris Jericho (who has defeated Lance Storm and Goldberg to get to this point) takes on Matt Hardy Version 1.0 (who holds victories over Mark Henry, Nova, and Hurricane). All four men brawl up the aisle and to the back. Very good back-and-forth match that the crowd unfortunately wasn't all that into, since both men are heels. As the match winds down, Booker T takes advantage of a distracted referee to lay Jericho out with a steel chair, allowing Matt to hit the Twist of Fate to advance to the title match! Afterwards, Jericho gets the chair away from Booker and hits him with it!

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA!" As Jericho and Batista continue to brawl, Eric Bischoff has come out onto the ramp. "You two are driving me insane! I put all this work into putting together an amazing tournament for the Intercontinental Title, and you two have been sabotaging it from the get-go, just to get your hands on each other! Well, at Armageddon, I'm happy to oblige. But this is it. One man wins, one man loses, and you're done with each other. And to make it more interesting, I'm going to hang a briefcase above the ring. And inside that briefcase is a World Title shot at the Royal Rumble. Whoever can climb that ladder first and pull down the briefcase gets their shot at the title. The loser has to suck it up and move on!"

And now to determine Hardy's Armageddon opponent, Rob Van Dam (who has had the toughest road to the Final Four, having defeated Test, Batista, and Christian) faces Shawn Michaels (who has pinned Triple H and Rico to get here). These two put on a pretty good match, but the crowd still really isn't into it. Good back-and-forth match that ends with RVD pulling off the upset with the Five-Star Frogsplash! After the match, HBK goes to congratulate him, but Christian hits the ring and levels him with a chair!

HBK manages to fight back and grab a microphone, challenging Christian to a match at Armageddon. It's accepted!

Before we go off the air, Eric Bischoff confirms that it will be Rob Van Dam versus Matt Hardy Version 1.0 for the vacant Intercontinental Title at Armageddon!

Armageddon is just six days away, and the card is set - The Rock versus Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match for the World Heavyweight Title! The winner will go on to the Royal Rumble to defend the gold against the winner of the Booker T/Chris Jericho Ladder Match! Plus, Rob Van Dam versus Matt Hardy for the Intercontinental Title and Shawn Michaels versus Christian!

DECEMBER 25, 2003 - SMACKDOWN!

It's the most wonderful tiiiime of the year! That's right, kids, it's the last SmackDown! of 2003, and our last stop on the road to Armageddon!

The Basham Brothers have been feeling the holiday spirit over the last two weeks, putting together an improbable win streak to earn a shot at the Dangerous Alliance's WWE Tag Team Titles. Will we have a Christmas miracle and new champions? These two teams put on a surprisingly good match, and the crowd actually got into it more than I was expecting. In the end, though, the power of the champs was just too much as Matt Morgan pinned Doug Basham with a chokeslam.

Two of the most exciting superstars on SmackDown! (not to mention two of the bigger draws on the Latin-skewing UPN) go at it one-on-one next for a spot in the Royal Rumble match as Eddie Guerrero takes on Carlito. Carlito takes an early edge with some high-flying, but Eddie fights back. ots of back-and-forth action with some high-impact stuff. Eddie hits the Three Amigos and lands a Frogsplash to pick up the win.

Pure wrestling fans are definitely having a Merry Christmas because the follow-up to that is another Rumble qualifier, pitting Eddie's nephew Chavo against Ultimo Dragon! These two actually top the previous match and put on one of the best matches of the year. In the end, Chavo hits the Brainbuster to win it and advance to the Rumble.

The hits just keep coming as four men who have already qualified for the Rumble go at it in tag-team action. It's the World's Greatest Tag Team taking on Nunzio and the Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman. Nunzio takes control on Shelton Benjamin early, then tags in Kidman for some double-teaming. Shelton manages to hot-tag Charlie Haas, who overpowers the champ until Nunzio tags back in. Nunzio manages to land a couple of stiff shots, but WGTT take him out with the Doomsday Device to pick up the win in a match that somehow managed to top even the previous two!

The crowd is still hot for a mediocre match in which Rhyno is looking to make good on his promise to tear through the Dangerous Alliance, tonight taking on the former United States Champion Big Show. Show starts off in control, but Rhyno uses his impressive power to fight back. As the match draws to a close, Big Show's Armageddon opponent Undertaker comes down to ringside with a steel chair. Rhyno whips Show off the ropes, and UT hits him with the chair. A shocked Show then runs into the GOOOOOOOORE, and Rhyno wins! Rhyno continues to attack Show, and Undertaker joins him until referees pull them apart.

Backstage, Paul Heyman is hyping up Brock Lesnar, saying that this Sunday night, it's time for Kurt Angle to move on. He knows he can't beat the champ. And after Lesnar beats him again, Angle needs to move on.

Lesnar is out next for a match against Backstage Bully Hardcore Holly. Pretty good back-and-foth match that even has a ref bump. Holly winds up eating an F5 to put Lesnar over, but after the match, Angle hits the ring and clamps the champion in the Angle Lock!

After the break, it's match six in the best-of-seven series between Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio for a WWE Title shot at Royal Rumble. Rey won last week to go up 3-2. If he wins tonight, the title shot is his! Benoit dominates early with superior power, and every time Rey tries to use his speed to fight back, Benoit shuts him down again. This was Benoit's match almost from the beginning, as he gets another submission victory with the Crippler Crossface. After the match, the two shake hands once more. Match seven will be at Armageddon. What a surprise!

Backstage, Kurt Angle says that what he just did to Brock Lesnar is just a warm-up for what he's going to do at Armageddon.

And the best SmackDown! of the year continues as Kurt Angle takes on Sean O'Haire in a tremendous match. Several near-falls, but the ending is ruined as Lesnar comes to ringside and hangs Angle out on the top rope, allowing O'Haire to hit the Prophecy for the win. O'Haire and Lesnar now go after the challenger, but John Cena (who will face O'Haire in a First Blood Match) comes out to even the odds! The faces clear the ring.

And our main event pits Cena against his good friend Edge in a warm-up for Armageddon. Good solid wrestling match between the two, the kind that Cena used to have back in 2003. In the end, Cena was just too much for Edge, picking up the win with an FU. The two shake hands as we go off the air.

Armageddon is going to be absolutely huge! We already knew that Eddie Guerrero was going to defend the United States Title against his nephew Chavo in a Cage Match and that John Cena and Sean O'Haire would fight until one man drew First Blood. Now we know that the Angle/Lesnar match will be fought under Iron Man rules! And the Undertaker/Big Show match will take place inside Hell In The Cell! All that, plus match seven between Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio - the winner gets a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble! You can't miss Armageddon, just three nights away on pay-per-view!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Eddie Guerrero upset Big Show for the United States Title (thanks to a little help from Undertaker), which made the stakes for tonight's Cage Match against his nephew Chavo that much higher. We can add Booker T and Triple H to the Rumble match by virtue of their losses, plus Shawn Michaels, Christian, and the new Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy Version 1.0! Still two weeks to go and nine slots to fill. Who will go on?

I'm simming to August to prepare for the PPV (hopefully will get that up tonight at some point). And all I can say is, LOL:

Triple H and Shawn Michales have announced they will retire from WWE in one month.

Also, TNA have a new TV show on Wednesdays, on the Graveyard shift. I might be getting promoted to Prime Time as my ratings have done well.

FEW Fight Night - August 1, 2009

---

Jonathan Coachman opens the first ever FEW PPV by announcing several bonus matches to be added to the card, most notably Cliff Compton facing off against Chris Harris!
OR: 83

In our first FEW Television Title tournament semi-final contest, Harry Smith and Ted DiBiase Jr. went one-on-one. The two youngsters put on a decent show, with Ted coming out victorious after a Dream Crusher. DiBiase Jr. showed a ruthless side to him after, assaulting Harry Smith.
OR: 68, CR: 61, MQ: 75

Colt Cabana entered next, and looked a bit concerned for his friend, Harry Smith. The announcers mention that Colt was likely busy preparing for his match and thus he didn't run out to save Smith from the extra beatdown, and now he has to face the first ever FEW Champion D'Lo Brown. After a really even match, Colt manages a Colt 45 and secures the upset victory! D'Lo congratulates Colt on the effort after, shaking his hand.
OR: 77, CR: 66, MQ: 89

In a bonus cruiserweight match, James Maritato met up with Sho Funaki. Not much to say here really...a good match, but the crowd just couldn't get into it, unfortunately. Funaki picks up the win following the Rising Sun. The feisty Italian Maritato looks pissed after, pounding the mat in frustration.
OR: 66, CR: 53, MQ: 79

Another bonus contest saw the other 10 men from the FEW Television Title tournament not yet on the card paired up randomly into teams of 5 for a 10-man tag team match. On one team was Armando Castro, Chuck Palumbo, Lance Kade, Steve Lewington, and Super Crazy. On the other: Bob Howard, Kenny Doane, Paul London, Trevor Murdock, and Val Venus. It was interesting to say the least as the faces and heels were mixed and attempted to co-exist. At one point, Kade and Murdock were both tagged in but refused to fight one another and tagged in heels instead. Everybody gets a chance to showcase their abilities. Kenny Doane slaps Bob Howard on the back to tag himself in, Bob decks him, and Kenny stumbles right into a Sidewinder from Steve Lewington to end the bout.
OR: 70, CR: 65, MQ: 75

Cliff Compton and Chris Harris continued their bitter rivalry next with a really brutal match. A lot of brawling and punching, seemed like a fight right out of a back alley. Cliff takes the easy way out and gets himself counted out. Chris Harris refuses to accept that win, and chases after Compton. They continue to brawl to the back. I don't think this is the last time we will see these two meeting up.
OR: 83, CR: 78, MQ: 89

Ted DiBiase Jr. and Colt Cabana put on a show to culminate the FEW Television Title tournament. The crowd was solidly behind Colt, trying to rally him onto the title despite Ted's best efforts to cheat and use underhanded tactics. Ted is backed into the corner, Colt charges - DiBiase pulls the ref into the way! Ref bump of doom! Ted grabs a chair, but here comes a beaten down Harry Smith! Ted flees, leaving the chair in the ring. Harry picks it up, Colt recovers...Smith cracks Colt over the skull! HEEL TURN! Harry plants him with a Running Powerslam before reviving the ref. Ted lands a Dream Crusher for good measure, and 3 seconds later is declared the first ever FEW Television champion! Harry and Ted shake hands! Why would Smith do this to his friend Colt Cabana?
OR: 80, CR: 75, MQ: 85

Elijah Burke cuts a promo against Thorn. He's outsmarted Thorn before, and he plans on doing it again.
OR: 85

While the in-ring quality of the main event still was pretty mediocre, the crowd was much hotter for this confrontation, everybody wanted to see Thorn shut Burke and The REAL Wrestlers up once and for all. Jake Swagger and Zigg Nemeth made nuisances of themselves, running out to try and distracted Thorn to no avail. The referee finally has enough and attempts to eject them from ringside. As the ref is preoccupied with that, Elijah Burke grabs the FEW Title and attempts to hit Thorn in the skull with it for the 4th time. But Thorn ducks! Thorn grabs the belt, and hits Burke with it himself! The crowd goes wild! Thorn covers, the referee turns around, and...the bell rings? The ref sees the belt in the ring and decided Thorn must have used it! Thorn has been disqualified! Swagger and Nemeth pull Burke and the title out of the ring, smiling all the way. Thorn did get outsmarted after all.
OR: 82, CR: 85, MQ: 76

77% Overall Rating for Fight Night
0.25 Buy Rate

The buy rate seems hella low...but then again I'm only Cult sized, so we'll see. Hopefully having my PPVs on Saturdays won't be a mistake. If it is, I'll just switch to the first Sunday of each month.

DECEMBER 29, 2003 - Monday Night RAW

One night after Armageddon, it's the last WWE show of 2003! The Rock retained his World Title in a laughable Last Man Standing Match against Triple H while Chris Jericho earned a shot at the gold by climbing the ladder of success to beat Booker T. Matt Hardy Version 1.0 laid claim to the Intercontinental Title by beating Rob Van Dam. And Shawn Michaels proved once again why he is the most exciting superstar on pay-per-view when he defeated Christian. Tonight, three more spots in the Royal Rumble match will be filled, The Rock is planning a championship celebration, and it's champions versus champion as Hardy teams with Christian to take on the Dudley Boyz.

We start off with a Royal Rumble qualifying match pitting the runner-up in the Intercontinental Title tournament Rob Van Dam against La Resistance's Rob Conway. RVD dominates the begging of the match with his feet, but Conway manages to take control briefly before taking more kicks. RVD finishes the match with his flying kick off the top rope to become the tenth RAW superstar to qualify for the Rumble.

Rico has been the center of controversy (isn't he always?) over the last few weeks as his longtime rival Val Venis has been stalked and attacked on multiple occasions. Tonight, he needs to put speculation aside to focus on the red-hot Nova. He manages to put the distractions behind him early, but it doesn't take the ECW original long to take to the air and take the advantage. Good solid match between two guys on the cusp of really making it in WWE, and Rico looks like he's about to win it with his spinning leg lariat, but Val Venis hits the ring and slams him down and hits the Money Shot. The referee calls for the bell! This ugly business is far from over.

Victoria will defend her Women's Title at Royal Rumble against the winner of the following match, but both Trish Stratus and Gail Kim are more anxious to tear each other apart than they are for a shot at te title. Lots of striking for the first half of the match until Trish starts using power moves. Gail tries to fight back with her feet, but Trish goes right back on the offense. The referee tries to get some separation but gets shoved down as they continue to brawl. The referee has lost complete control and calls for the bell, disqualifying them both! They don't care, as they continue fighting all the way back up the ramp backstage.

Eric Bischoff gets between the two of them and tells them that since they can't keep their hands off each other, then they'll get another shot. The Women's Title match at the Royal Rumble is going to be a triple threat match!

It's time for our next qualifying match as Spike Dudley takes on the animal Batista. Not really surprising that Batista dominates almost the entire match. Spike manages to land a DDT, but Batista bounces right back up to finish him off with a Batista Bomb.

Our next match pits two men who have already qualified for the Rumble against each other as Shawn Michaels hopes to continue his winning ways against Kane, who last week drove Goldberg out of World Wrestling Entertainment for good. Michaels takes control with his speed advantage, but Kane begins to overpower his rival. Again, Michaels pushes back with speed, but Kane again overpowers him. Kane tries a charge in the corner but eats a boot. HBK climbs to the top and lands his picture-perfect elbow before tuning up the band for Sweet Chin Music and the win! After the match, Kane jumps him and lands a chokeslam.

Last week, William Regal beat Lance Storm in a purist's dream match, and the WWE brass was so impressed they decided to give them another shot, this time for a spot in the Royal Rumble! Very good match with both men getting in offense and near-falls, but Regal again picks up the win with the Power of the Punch.

24 hours ago, Matt Hardy won the Intercontinental Title in the finals of the month-long tournament, but tonight he looks to beat another set of champions, the Dudley Boyz, with his partner Christian. The Dudleyz start off by isolating Christian until Captain Charisma pulls a spear out of nowhere to tag in Hardy. Hardy is a house of fire going after D-Von until Bubba hot-tags in. Bubba overpowers Matt, but Matt ducks a wild punch and plants him with the Twist of Fate for the win!

I should have switched this segment with the previous one, because the crowd was really pumped up after that match that they sort of didn't give a crap about Triple H beating Booker T with the Pedigree.

The Rock has a celebration ceremony where he thanks The People for helping him have the strength to absolutely destroy Triple H at Armageddon.

Rock's Royal Rumble opponent Chris Jericho is up next in the main event to take on Hurricane. Both men trade dropkicks to start, then lots of counter wrestling. Jericho comes out on top, getting 'cane to tap out to the Walls of Jericho as RAW goes off the air!

Next week, it's a whole new year in WWE, and new opportunities abound for the six men particpating in the final three qualifying matches for the Royal Rumble! You won't want to miss the last RAW before the Rumble, because as we all know - anything can happen in WWE!

Surprised you haven't Future Endeavor'd Boss Man yet.

It's early, but will you be doing a draft at some point after WM20?

Yeah, this is what I had in mind:

The RAW and SmackDown! after WMXX, there will be a series of interbrand matches. The winner/s of the match gets to choose whether they want to jump to the other brand or steal the loser/s for their brand.

For example, The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar - if Rocky wins, he can either go to SmackDown! or Lesnar will be forced to jump to RAW.

I'm already kicking around ideas for who I want to move, and there will probably be tag and six-man matches to further shuffle things around. I want to see how people are doing closer to Mania, because I want to try to even things out. Right now, the top of the RAW card is stacked, while SD has an amazing midcard. Ideally, both brands would be balanced all the way through.

And as for Boss Man, he's relatively cheap, so I don't mind keeping him on the payroll. When his contract's up, I won't renew, but until then I don't mind keeping him as an enhancement talent.

JANUARY 1, 2004 - SMACKDOWN!

It's a brand new year, and the road to WrestleMania XX (the 19th anniversary of WrestleMania!) kicks off in just a week and a half at the Royal Rumble! Tonight, we get one more confirmed participant in the Rumble match, our main event pits champion versus champion, plus the start of some brand-new SmackDown! feuds!

The show kicks off with Stephanie McMahon in her office, confirming that at the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar will defend the WWE Title against the man who won four out of seven matches against Chris Benoit to earn the shot - Rey Mysterio!

Our opening contest pits two of the twelve men who've already qualified for the Rumble against each other - Edge and Nunzio! Nunzio has spent the last couple of weeks trying to prove that he is for real, and he puts on a good show tonight. He gets off to a hot start before being overpowered, but gets some more big moves in down the stretch. But tonight was Edge's night, as he puts Nunzio away with the Edgecutioner for the win.

Brock Lesnar has been the most dominant force in World Wrestling Entertainment since his debut, and tonight his opponent is hoping to put his name in the discussion of top-tier SmackDown! superstars, World's Greatest Tag Team member Charlie Haas. Lesnar hits a big forearm, but misses a clothesline and Haas nails him with a back suplex. Lesnar mule kicks to get space, then hits a running knee lift before clamping on a full nelson and landing a Death Valley Driver. Haas counters a backdrop with a piledriver, but Lesnar powers out of a Haas of Pain attempt and nails him with the F5! After the match, Rhyno hits the ring and lays him out with the Gore! The champ is down!

And now it's Haas' partner's turn to put on a show as Shelton Benjamin takes on Lesnar's Rumble opponent Rey Mysterio. Very good back-and-forth high-impact match with a couple of very close near-falls, but in the end, Rey continues his momentum with the West Coast Pop. After the match, Rey continues his tradition of shaking hands with his opponent. He's a hell of a guy.

It's been a night of Rumble previews, and tonight two more Rumble participants go one-on-one as Kurt Angle takes on Chavo Guerrero. Both men lost their bids for titles at Armageddon and are hoping to get their momentum back heading into the first of the Big Four 2004 PPVs. Chavo takes to the air early, then Angle fights back with technical expertise, then Chavo again goes to the air. Both men are really using their unique skills to their advantage. Angle charges Chavo, but Chavo moves and the ref bumps. Angle takes Chavo down, then takes off the straps, preparing for the Angle Lock. He approaches Chavo, but Chavo lays him out with a punch. He has brass knuckles! The referee wakes up to see Chavo covering Kurt for the win! Chavo slides out of the ring and escapes through the crowd. He clearly doesn't want any of Kurt once he regains consciousness!

Tonight's Royal Rumble qualifying match pits two of SmackDown!'s most brutal superstars against each other - Chris Benoit and Tajiri! Tajiri manages to hold his own, but the match mostly belonged to Benoit, and he bounces back from his loss to Mysterio by getting a tap-out victory over Tajiri for a spot in possibly the most star-studded Royal Rumble match in history.

Backstage, Sean O'Haire is watching the match on a monitor. As Benoit has his hand raised, O'Haire talks about how if Benoit can't beat a man that he's already faced six consecutive times in a one-on-one match to earn a title shot, how can he expect to defeat 29 of them? If he doesn't know his own friend's moveset well enough to be able to counter each and every one of them, how can he consider himself the greatest technical wrestler in the world? If Chris Benoit hadn't ridden the coattails of his more exciting, more charismatic, more entertaining friends, would he be where he is today? But, then again, he's not telling us anything we don't already know.

O'Haire is out next for a match against Undertaker. Pretty basic match, with both guys getting in some good brawling and slams. O'Haire manages to somehow get UT up on his shoulders in preparation for the Prophecy, but Chris Benoit hits the ring! Benoit clamps on the Crippler Crossface, and the referee calls for the bell! Benoit must have heard what O'Haire said about him, because he is on the warpath. He grabs a chair and lays him out, then a couple more shots. Now he sets the chair up and lands a drop toehold onto it, leaving O'Haire a bloody mess!

Two of the biggest odds-on favorites in the Rumble are the former United States Champion Big Show and John Cena. Tonight, they hope to establish momentum in their one-on-one match. Disappointing match that nonetheless has some pretty good false finishes until Cena hits a massive FU for the victory.

It's now time for our main event, and it is a champion versus champion match, with neither title on the line. United States Champion Eddie Guerrero will face the stablemate of the man he beat for the gold, the Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman. The crowd is way into this match, as both men hit some big moves and get near-falls. In the end, as Eddie is building momentum, Paul Heyman jumps up onto the apron. Eddie notices and takes his eyes off Kidman just long enough for the Cruiserweight Champion to take advantage, laying him out and hitting the Shooting Star Press for the win. After the match, Eddie is incensed and attacks both men, sending them scattering for safety.

Eddie wants the microphone. SmackDown! goes off the air with him issuing a challenge to Kidman. At the Royal Rumble, I don't care if it wears us both out so we can't compete in the main event, I want you, and I'm going to make you pay for tonight by taking your Cruiserweight Title!

Next week, the final two slots in the Royal Rumble will be determined as tag-team partners Bradshaw and Hardcore Holly go one-on-one and - in a match arranged by Paul Heyman - Rhyno can qualify for the Rumble only if he can defeat both A-Train and Matt Morgan in a handicap match! If Rhyno loses, whoever scores the winning fall gets the slot in the Rumble. Plus, expect more buildup from the other Rumble participants and a tag-team main event pitting the Dangerous Alliance's Brock Lesnar and Billy Kidman against Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero! And you just know Rhyno is waiting in the wings. Next week is the last SmackDown! before the Royal Rumble, and you don't want to miss what happens next!

JANUARY 5, 2004 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

It's the last edition of RAW before the Royal Rumble, and the final three spots on the RAW side of the Rumble match will be determined tonight, plus we have a massive tag-team main event and plenty more Rumble build-up!

Just like SmackDown four days ago, tonight's show kicks off with Eric Bischoff making the World Title match between The Rock and Chris Jericho official.

The show kicks off with Divas action as Gail Kim, who will be participating in the triple-threat match for the Women's Title at the Royal Rumble, takes on Lita. Both women get in some offense before Gail hits her Diving Rana for the win.

Our next match is a six-man tag pitting all three Dudley Boyz against all three members of La Resistance. The Dudleyz dominate Rob Conway early with quick tags getting all three men into the ring. Conway manages to snap suplex Bubba and tag in Dupree, and from there La Res takes over with similar quick-tag success. D-Von gets a hot tag, but in the confusion, Christian hits the ring and hits the Unprettier behind the referee's back! When he turns around, Conway is covering D-Von for the win. Why did Christian just attack D-Von Dudley?

Triple H is trying to build momentum toward the Rumble match to get himself back into the main event, but his squash match against Lance Storm did more to damage Lance than it did help HHH. H wins it with the Pedigree.

Up next is a fatal fourway match for the final three slots in the Rumble match. How does that work, you ask? The man who is pinned or forced to submit is out, and the other three are in. (editor's note: this was supposed to be three separate one-on-one matches, but then I endeavored Steiner and Maven and mashed them all into this one) It's Nova versus Tommy Dreamer versus Val Venis versus Test! Nova and Test start off, and Test taeks control early until Nova tags in Dreamer. Dreamer brawls with Test until Test tags in Venis, who hits a spear and a slam. Tommy backdrops Val and hits a spinebuster, then tags Test back in. Test hits a pair of big clotheslines. The referee is trying to maintain order and doesn't notice Batista hit the ring with a chair! Test whips Val into Bats' chair, then plants him with the Big Boot for the win!

After the match, Batista continues to pummel Val with the chair, when all of a sudden, Rico hits the ring! Batista can see that Rico means business and high-tails it, leaving Rico to attend to Val. What the hell is going on here? Was Rico telling the truth all along? But we do know now that Test, Tommy Dreamer, and Nova have qualified for the last three Rumble slots.

It's more Divas action next as Trish Stratus and the Women's Champion Victoria take on Jazz and Molly Holly. Decent match made better by a hot crowd ends with Trish hitting Molly with Stratusfaction, but then getting jumped by Gail! Gail heads to the top rope for the Standing Rana, but out of nowhere comes new WWE Diva Mickie James! Gail bails off the top rope, and Mickie chases her through the crowd and out of sight.

Booker T has fallen on some hard times lately, with a mounting losing streak and losing a shot at the World Title at Armageddon. Tonight, he hopes to turn things around before the Rumble by taking on one of his 29 opponents, William Regal. Both men get in their share of moves, but the match is lacking something. In the end, Booker hits the Book End to pick up the much-needed win. After the match, he celebrates the victory.

The crowd has really settled down which doesn't bode well for Rob Van Dam and Kane, who are up next. They put on a good match, but there's just no reaction. RVD picks up the upset win with a flying kick off the top.

What's the best cure for a dead crowd? The new Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy taking on Hurricane! These two have torn up every arena they've competed in over the last several months, and now that Hardy's the IC champion, you can bet that this will turn into a full-on feud! These two put on a spectacular match that ends with the champ hitting the Twist of Fate out of nowhere for the victory.

And in our main event, it's the New Mega-Powers - Shawn Michaels and the World Champion The Rock - taking on Christian and Rock's Rumble opponent Chris Jericho. "Vitamin C" controls the champion early with quick tags and double-teams until Rocky manages to hit Christian with a piledriver. Tag to Michaels, who slams Xian and lands his trademark flying elbow. Christian ducks a clothesline and hits a spinning neckbreaker, then tags in Y2J. Jericho hits a dropkick, then Rock tags into the match. HBK scoops up Jericho for a double-team move, but accidentally catches Rocky with one of Jericho's boots! HBK is forced out of the ring, and Jericho applies the Walls of Jericho! The champ has no choice but to tap out. After the match, HBK is apologetic, but Rocky is having none of it. HBK goes to leave, but Rock pulls him back into the ring. They have a long stare-down as RAW goes off the air.

In just six days, the Royal Rumble will be our next huge pay-per-view event. The Rock will defend the World Title against Chris Jericho! Victoria will defend the Women's Title in a triple threat against Trish Stratus and Gail Kim! Plus - Shawn Michaels, Matt Hardy, Christian, Hurricane, the Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer, William Regal, Nova, Batista, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Test, Triple H, and Kane will be RAW's representatives in the Royal Rumble match for a title shot at WrestleMania XX!

JANUARY 8, 2004 - SMACKDOWN!

It's the last WWE show before the Royal Rumble, and the last two slots in the Rumble match will be filled! Plus, the other Rumble participants as well as the men representing SmackDown! in two title matches will all be in action tonight!

The show kicks off with a match between two men who came up short in their bids for Rumble slots, but are looking to prove that they shouldn't be overlooked. It's Shannon Moore against Chris Kanyon. Kanyon dominates early until Moore fights back with strikes. Kanyon again takes advantage with his strength advantage and hits I'm Betta Than You for the win.

Our next match is a Royal Rumble qualifier pitting the Backstage Bullies Bradshaw and Hardcore Holly against each other! Hardcore doesn't put in much of an effort in his win, and the crowd isn't into it. Holly hits the Alabama Slam for the win, then offers a handshake to his partner, but Bradshaw isn't having any of it. I wouldn't either, if Holly made me look like shit.

Mercifully, that match is followed up with Nunzio again hoping to leverage his way into the top part of the card by teaming with a member of the Dangerous Alliance against the World's Greatest Tag Team. Tonight's partner is Big Show. Nunzio takes control of Shelton early, and after a tag, Show continues it. Eventually, though, WGTT's cohesiveness is too much for their makeshift opponents, and they nail Nunzio with a Doomsday Device for the win. After the match, Nunzio is pleading with Show. Is he really trying to get himself into the Alliance? Show walks off and leaves him behind. There are no friends going into the Royal Rumble.

Ugh, then we follow that up with a crappy Undertaker/Chuck Palumbo match. UT picks up the win with the Last Ride.

Twenty-nine spots have been filled, and up next is the final Royal Rumble qualifying match as Rhyno takes on both A-Train and Matt Morgan in a handicap match! If Rhyno wins, he's in. If either Train or Morgan pins him or makes him submit, that man is in. D.A. double-team Rhyno for the first several minutes of the match until Rhyno slides out of a Morgan slam attempt and levels him with a lariat before GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE-ing Train for the win. Despite the Alliance's best efforts, Rhyno is one win away from a shot at Brock Lesnar's WWE Title!

Up next is a disappointing match pitting Edge against Carlito. I was hoping these two would put on a good show, but the match wasn't that great. Fortunately, the crowd was pumped. Edge wins it with the Edgecutioner to continue his winning streak heading into the Rumble.

The next match is a fantastic tag-team contest pitting Chavo Guerrero and Sean O'Haire against (what EWR dubs) God's Team - Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Last week, Chavo stole a win from Angle, while O'Haire and Benoit exchanged words and brutal chairshots respectively. These are two of the hottest new feuds on SmackDown! colliding in tag-team action! Chavo and O'Haire control the early-going with quick tags and near falls until Benoit manages to powerbomb O'Haire and hot-tag Angle. Angle goes to work on O'Haire with a knee lift and a piledriver until Chavo tags back in. Chavo takes to the air and gets another near-fall. He misses a legdrop, and Angle capitalizes with a lariat and the Angle Slam for three. After the match, the four rivals brawl all the way up the aisle. With all four competing in the Royal Rumble, will any of them be able to focus on trying to earn a title shot?

After they're separated backstage, O'Haire again lays into Benoit verbally. "This is exactly what I was saying last week, Chris. You hitched your train to Kurt Angle tonight and let him do the dirty work. He's the one who got the pin tonight. Not you. And until you can start pulling your own weight, you're always going to be somebody's second fiddle. But I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know."

John Cena has - in a very short time - propelled himself into the main event on SmackDown! and looks poised to do very well in the Royal Rumble. His last warm-up match before the event is against the former Cruiserweight Champion, the Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri. Tajiri takes control early with his speed advantage, but Cena's prototypical power gives him control. Tajiri uses his feet until Cena again overpowers him and hits the FU for the win.

After the match, Cena asks for the microphone and says that when the dust settles after the Royal Rumble, after he's beaten 29 of the best WWE superstars, he's going to WrestleMania and he's taking the WWE Title. So if Brock Lesnar can again prove that he's the Next Big Thing by beating Rey Mysterio, he's going to have to prove himself in the school of hard knocks. And his professor is going to be the Doctor of Thuganomics. Word life!

Our main event is a preview of two title matches to be held at the Rumble. In three days, Brock Lesnar will defend the WWE Title against Rey Mysterio while Billy Kidman will defend the Cruiserweight Title against Eddie Guerrero. Tonight, the champions will team up to take on their challengers! Eddie and Rey control Kidman early on, and it basically turns into a lucha libre style contest until Kidman manages to tag in Lesnar, who then begins pummeling Mysterio until Rey tags in Eddie. Eddie forces Lesnar back into his corner and Kidman tags in, only to run into a dropkick to the knee. Eddie heads up top and lands the Frogsplash for the win!

At the Royal Rumble, both the WWE and Cruiserweight Titles will be on the line, but will Brock Lesnar be looking past Rey Mysterio at the long line of people looking for a shot at him? Several SmackDown! superstars have made their intentions clear going into the Rumble match, and any of these fifteen superstars - Kurt Angle, John Cena, Sean O'Haire, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Rhyno, Chavo Guerrero, Billy Kidman, Hardcore Holly, the World's Greatest Tag Team, Edge, Undertaker, Big Show, or Nunzio - could go on to WrestleMania and take the title!

(Elimination # 25) Bodyslam by O'Haire. Kurt Angle got bundled out by O'Haire. (Elimination # 26) Armbar takedown from Shelton Benjamin, boring me senseless. Powerbomb on Rhyno. Full nelson on HBK...i remember when Warlord used to do that. God he sucked. Rhyno tried to eliminate Shawn Michaels, who hung onto the top rope. I guess he was well hung. Bwahahahaa. Shelton gets slammed. Shelton Benjamin got bundled out by O'Haire. (Elimination # 27) Hard back suplex on O'Haire. HBK threw Sean O'Haire over the top rope like a common Pygmy. (Elimination # 28) HBK hits a massive spinning kick to the jaw. Running knee lift from Shawn Michaels. Rhyno is in trouble. Sweet Chin Music! Rhyno got eliminated by HBK.

JANUARY 12, 2004 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

Last night at the Royal Rumble, Shawn Michaels went the distance, lasting 53 minutes and eliminating more superstars than anyone else, and now he will be facing his friend and tag-team partner The Rock at WrestleMania! In tonight's main event, they will hope to add more gold to their collection as they take on the Dudley Boyz for the World Tag Team Titles!

We kick things off with a six-man tag match pitting ECW originals Lance Storm, Nova, and Tommy Dreamer against all three members of La Resistance. All three La Res members dominate Tommy early until he can tag in Storm, who then goes to work on Dupree for a while before tagging Nova in. Dupree makes a desperation tag to Grenier as Nova tags in Dreamer. Tommy hits the Dreamer Driver and is poised to pick up the win until Test hits the ring and lays Dreamer out with a Big Boot! Why did Test just get involved?

Last week, Mickie James made her first WWE appearance, saving Trish Stratus from an assault by Gail Kim. Tonight, she makes her in-ring debut against Gail! Mickie controls the early going until Gail takes to the air. Mickie starts using kicks to take the lead again, eventually finishing the match with a tornado DDT!

Backstage, Shawn Michaels is warming up for tonight's big main event when The Rock approaches. The champ wants to congratulate Shawn for lasting almost an hour in the Rumble and winning it for a third time. He's excited to face him at WrestleMania, because he knows they're going to absolutely electrify the place. But tonight, The Rock's gotta know, is he ready for the Dudley Boyz? "Yeah. I'm ready." And HBK walks off, leaving Rock puzzled.

Last week, Batista assaulted Val Venis, costing him a spot in the Royal Rumble, leading many to speculate that it was he who had been stalking Val for the last month. Tonight, Val gets a shot at the animal, but he should probably have stayed home. Val manages to get in a couple of moves, but the match belonged to Batista, and he finishes him off with a Batista Bomb. Afterwards, Batista continues the assault, just absolutely decimating Val.

Ric Flair is in the ring now with Batista, and he's got a microphone. Yes, it was Batista that's been stalking Val Venis for weeks. And the reason is that Val is representative of everything that's wrong in this business. This is a guy with no ambition. He's been stuck in the midcard for over half a decade, and he doesn't seem to to care about it. But when Flair took over as Batista's manager, he did so on one condition - Batista was never going to settle. This is a monster with a real shot at one day being mentioned with the great ones in the industry, but he has no time for people who are just here to collect a paycheck. Last week, Val was just the first to be taken out on Batista's rise to the top. When he came out to save Val last week, Rico put himself on their radar, and the more Flair thinks about it, they couldn't have asked for a better victim. Rico's biggest accomplishment is... what, exactly? Being on American Gladiators fifteen years ago? Rico Constantino is middle-of-the-road. He always has been, and he always will be. And Batista is going to make him roadkill.

After the break, Rico is out next to take on William Regal. Rico had to have taken that personally, and you can bet he's going to try to prove himself and his new status as a fan-favorite against William Regal. Good solid technical match between the two with Regal using his catch-as-catch-can style and Rico using his feet as weapons. Several near-falls end with Rico hitting his spinning kick to win the match.

Hurricane has proven recently that he is very close to being mentioned with the top names in World Wrestling Entertainment. Tonight, he hopes to solidify that claim by defeating Chris Jericho. Lots of counter-wrestling in this one with several near-falls. In the end, Jericho distracts the referee long enough for Matt Hardy to hit the ring and again take out his rival Hurricane with the Twist of Fate, allowing Jericho to pick up the pin. After the match, they both stomp away on Hurricane.

Booker T is hoping to continue his climb back to relevance tonight against Christian. Pretty so-so match that does get Booker a little bump in overness as he hits the Book End for the win.

After the break, Christian and Chris Jericho decide that they would be best served by pooling their efforts. Jericho came up just short of winning the World Title at Royal Rumble, but together, they can take the World Tag Team Titles off the Dudley Boyz' waists. They've had them so long, they've got tan lines, but... Jericho waits for Christian to come up with a catchy zinger, but the best he can come up with is mumbling something about it being cold in Canada. "That's the best you can come up with?"

Up next it's the Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy taking on Rob Van Dam in a non-title match. Decent match with a lot of near-falls. RVD is starting to take control when Hurricane comes down to ringside and hangs Matt out to dry on the top rope, allowing RVD to hit the Five-Star Frogsplash for the win! After the match, Hurricane continues to assault Matt, payback for earlier tonight.

And now it's time for our main event! The Dudley Boyz defend the World Tag Team Titles against The New Mega-Powers - Shawn Michaels and the World Champion The Rock! Bubba and Rock start off, and Bubba takes the lead with punches and a slam for two. Tag to D-Von, and they hit a double clothesline for two more. D-Von slams the Rock, but Rock reverses a hiptoss, then slams D-Von for two. Tag to HBK, who hits a seated senton for a long two, then a back suplex. HBK goes for a splash, but D-Von gets his knees up. D-Von slams HBK, then tags in Bubba. Bubba now slams HBK, who tags Rock back in. Rock hits a neckbreaker on Bubba, then signals for the Rock Bottom! He drops down into his crouch, waiting for Bubba to get to his feet... and eats a superkick! Shawn Michaels just laid out the World Champion with Sweet Chin Music! Both Bubba and Rock struggle to their feet, but Rock has been so dazed by SCM that he falls victim to a Bubba Cutter, and the Dudleyz retain!

The Mega-Powers have imploded, just like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage fifteen years ago! What looked like the beginning of a friendly rivalry between The Rock and Shawn Michaels has turned into anything but. HBK has taken it too far, and you can bet the Great One will be looking for revenge. What's going to happen when the pieces come back together next week on RAW?

JANUARY 15, 2004 - SMACKDOWN!

With the Royal Rumble behind us and No Way Out on the horizon and no #1 contender for Brock Lesnar's WWE Title, SmackDown! GM Stephanie McMahon has announced that tonight the SmackDown! superstars who participated in the Rumble match will compete in a gauntlet-style match lasting the whole night. The winner at the end of the night will face Lesnar at WrestleMania XX!

The first contest of the evening pits Chris Benoit against Big Show. Benoit put on probably the most disappointing performance of anyone in the Rumble match, lasting only three minutes before being eliminated. A handful of near-falls in this one that ends with Show missing an elbow drop and Benoit pouncing with a Crippler Crossface for the win.

Benoit's next opponent is the man who lost the Cruiserweight Title to Eddie Guerrero at the Rumble, Billy Kidman. These two put on a good solid match that lasts fifteen minutes, resulting in a time-limit draw, eliminating both men from the Chase for the Championship.

That brings out two new superstars - Undertaker and Nunzio. You can imagine how this one turns out. Nunzio gets in a couple of moves, but he falls victim to the Last Ride.

'Taker's next opponent is Chavo Guerrero. Chavo actually gets in an impressive amount of offense early before Taker takes over with his power. The referee winds up bumping in the corner and Chavo tumbles to the floor. As UT goes after Chavo, he gets decked in the face with the ring bell. As the referee comes to, he sees Chavo covering UT in the ring and counts the pin. Afterwards, an enraged Undertaker assaults the ref.

Chavo awaits his next opponent... and it's his uncle the United States and Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Guerrero! These two put on a tremendous match that showcases both men's skills as mat and aerial technicians, but it devolves into a brawl down the stretch. The referee tries to break them up, but Eddie shoves him to the canvas. He tries again, but Chavo pushes him away. he's seen enough, and he calls for the bell, disqualifying both men! They continue to brawl away from the ring.

Up next are Rhyno and Shelton Benjamin, two of the final four in the Rumble. Rhyno came within a move of winning the match, but fell victim to Sweet Chin Music putting Shawn Michaels in the WMXX main event. These two put on a great match (something Shelton has been making a habit out of lately) that is unfortunately spoiled by the interference of the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, who has made it his mission to keep Rhyno away from his belt. With the referee distracted, Lesnar takes Rhyno out with a chair allowing Shelton to pounce with a superkick to take the win. Lesnar goes to continue the assault, but Shelton lays his former college partner Lesnar out with another superkick!

Shelton awaits the arrival of his next opponent, and it's... Charlie Haas! Both men's faces drop when they realize that they must face their best friend for a shot at the gold. Nonetheless, when the bell rings, they tear into each other. Haas hits a big chop to open the match, then levels him with a lariat and a DDT, following up with a suplex. Shelton mule kicks Haas to gain separation, then slams and piledrives his partner for two. Haas blocks a kick and lands a thump for two. Death Valley Driver gets a loooong two count. Shelton fights back with punches, but gets tripped up. Haas hits a spinning neckbreaker to set up Haastruction for the win! After the match (and it was a great one), Haas extends his hand to his partner, and they shake. This could have been a star-making match for both men.

Haas' next opponent is Edge. Edge takes advantage of Haas' exhaustion early with slams and strikes. Haas fights back a little bit, but Edge was just the fresher man and winds up hitting the Spear for the win.

Only three possible opponents remain for Edge, and out comes Sean O'Haire. O'Haire starts off with a trio of slams, then a big clothesline. From there, Edge turns things around a bit, but eventually O'Haire puts him away with the Prophecy.

Up next, O'Haire faces off against the Olympic Hero Kurt Angle! Angle controls most of the match, but O'Haire looks good with what little offense he gets in. Eventually, though, he has no choice but to tap out to the Angle Lock. But this match is enough to finally propel O'Haire to the main event.

Angle knows who his opponent in the main event must be, and he awaits the arrival of John Cena! Cena comes out, and unfortunately the match doesn't quite live up to the hype. The crowd is into it, but the match itself is only slightly above average. Cena headbutts Angle, then hits him with a series of slams before eating a back elbow that gets Angle a quick two. Cena spears Angle for two. Big lariat gets another two. Angle kicks Cena in the face, then hits a forearm, but gets hit with a big shoulder tackle to set up the FU! Cena picks up the big win and is going to WrestleMania! But as he's celebrating, the WWE Champion hits the ring with a chair and levels his challenger! Cena is bloodied and the champ stands tall as we fade to black.

John Cena overcame the odds tonight, but what chance will he have at WrestleMania against the unstoppable monster Lesnar? Plus, what will No Way Out have in store for both men? This Monday night on RAW, Vince McMahon will make a rare appearance and he says he has a blockbuster announcement for the No Way Out main event!

Awesome idea there having an all-night gauntlet, and also not allowing anyone to be in more than 2 segments as the crowd grows tired of them then.

Thanks, Vito. I wanted to give all the top guys (and Nunzio lol) at least one good wrestling segment to try and build up some overness. It seemed to work, since Sean O'Haire's in the main event now. And I've tried this kind of thing before (see: the Trios Tournament from my old ROH game), so I learned my lesson about over-using people.

I really wish I didn't have such ADD when it came to EWR. I'm enjoying my FEW game, but part of me wants to pick up the older game I had (that I haven't touched in nearly a year) where I wound up re-drafting the brands into three separate companies...WWE, WCW, and ECW because I still had ideas for that that never came to fruition.

Maybe doing two games at once would keep me occupied with the game.

JANUARY 19, 2004 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

Last week, Shawn Michaels, the #1 contender for the World Title, turned his back on his friend and WrestleMania opponent The Rock. What looked like a friendly rivalry going to the granddaddy of them all has turned into bad blood. How will Michaels' actions affect RAW tonight? And Mister McMahon is expected to be here tonight with a huge announcement for No Way Out.

The show kicks off with two superstars badly in need of a win. Both Booker T and Kane have struggled mightily over the last couple of months, and a win tonight could help them get back on track as the Road To WrestleMania XX (the 19th anniversary of WM!) continues. Both men get in a fair amount of offense, but their desperation to prove themselves the better man winds up with them both being disqualified, and they brawl all the way up the aisle.

Backstage, Eric Bischoff announces that if these two want each other so bad, they'll get their chance to go one-on-one again at No Way Out!

Hurricane is looking to get an official shot at Matt Hardy's Intercontinental Title, but after back-to-back losses, he needs to bounce back to keep himself in the conversation. Tonight, his chances look pretty good as he takes on La Resistance's Rob Conway. Hurricane dominates early with a series of acrobatic kicks, aerial maneuvers, and a big legsweep. Conway takes control and hits a big elbow for two, but Hurricane fights back with more high-flying moves. They then brawl for a bit before Hurricane nails a DDT to set up the Eye of the Hurricane for the win! After the match, the Intercontinental Champion appears in the ring out of nowhere and nails Hurricane with the Twist of Fate, and now Matt Hardy Version 1.0 is standing tall!

Mickie James is in her locker room when she's approached by Trish Stratus. Trish hasn't really had a chance to say so yet, but thanks for helping out when Gail Kim was trying to take her out after that tag match a few weeks back. Mickie's showing a lot of potential, and she's going to be one of the biggest things to hit the Women's Division in quite some time, as long as she knows who her friends are and stays away from the bad seeds. WWE's a dangerous place. It's good to know somebody's watching your back.

The World Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz are facing a new threat on the horizon from Vitamin C, but tonight they take on Test and William Regal. The Dudleyz double-team Test for the early part of the match until Bubba misses a legdrop, allowing Test to hit a big powerslam and tag in Regal. Regal outwrestles Bubba until he can land a shoulderblock to tag in D-Von. Regal tags in Test at the same time, but is too dazed to stop his partner from being taken out with the 3D! After the match, Vitamin C hit the ring and jump the Dudleyz! Jericho nails D-Von with the Lionsault, then both members of Vitamin C put Bubba through the announce table!

Backstage, a limo pulls up, and the crowd begins booing like mad. It rolls to a stop, the door opens, and out steps Vince McMahon himself. He's got a lot on his mind tonight. What is he going to announce for No Way Out?

Val Venis and Rico have one of the most unique relationships in World Wrestling Entertainment. Months ago, Rico became fixated with Val because of Val's... professional acumen. When Val started being stalked late last year, he accused Rico of being the one. Last week, however, it was revealed that it had been Ric Flair's animal Batista who was attacking Val. Rico has time and again come to Val's rescue, and tonight they team up for the first time as the Sin City Swingers to take on Vitamin C. This is an excellent match with lots of near falls and quick tags. However, during one moment of confusion, Batista hits the ring and levels Rico with a chair! As he slides out of the ring, Jericho capitalizes with the Walls of Jericho, and Rico taps out. Batista slides back in and prepares to hit Rico with the Batista Bomb, but out come the Dudley Boyz! They're bandaged and they're hurt, but they now have the numbers advantage, and Batista and Vitamin C hit the road.

Rico asks for a microphone and tells Batista that if thinks Rico is just out for the paycheck, he's got another thing coming. And he's got it coming at No Way Out!

It's champion versus champion next as the World Champion The Rock takes on the Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy Version 1.0 in a non-title match. Matt takes control early, but Rock starts to fight back with some high-impact moves and a couple of near falls. Both guys get in a lot of offense, and Matt is looking like a million bucks, and the crowd is eating it up, but in the end, Rock finishes it with the Rock Bottom.

Our main event tonight pits the "reformed" Shawn Michaels against Mister Monday Night ROb Van Dam. The last time these two tied up, RVD pinned HBK in the semifinals of the IC Title Tournament. HBK is looking for revenge tonight. Michaels takes a page out of RVD's book and leads off with a series of kicks, but RVD takes to the air to gain control. HBK goes for the submission with a full nelson, and follows up with a top-rope DDT for a long two-count. Back-and-forth brawling now until HBK manages to hit his top-rope elbow drop to set up for Sweet Chin Music and the win!

.....NO CHANCE! The crowd comes unglued as Mister McMahon makes his way to the ring for the first time in several months. He's been very impressed lately with the way things have run in his absence. New stars are elevating themselves, and old stars are revitalizing their careers. Some Superstars decided that they were too good for this company, and are struggling to find work for a greatly-reduced paycheck and for companies that no one has ever heard of. This is a great time to be the chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment, and the build-up to WrestleMania XX is giving me goosebumps. Now, last week on RAW, something very unexpected happened in the main event. Shawn Michaels proved once again why he can't be trusted, betraying yet another in a long line of partners and friends when he attacked The Rock. HBK may have put his name back in the pantheon of wrestling gods by winning his third Royal Rumble, but we'll see how he does on the biggest stage.

Meanwhile, on SmackDown!, Brock Lesnar continues to showcase the dominant strength, speed, and athleticism that put him on the Chairman's radar two years ago. He has torn through all challengers for his gold, but just four days ago, a new challenger emerged from the pack. John Cena is everything WWE fans should come to expect from this new era in World Wrestling Entertainment - he's strong, he's athletic, and he's entertaining. And the Cena/Lesnar showdown at WrestleMania could be the match that puts both men in the conversation with men like Hogan, Michaels, Austin, Rock, Andre, Savage, Flair, Undertaker... The sky is the limit for these two men, and Mister McMahon can't wait to see how high they climb.

Which brings me to my announcement tonight. Both RAW and SmackDown! have tremendously exciting title matches scheduled for WrestleMania, but we still have the little matter of No Way Out, just five weeks away. And as a WrestleMania preview, I've decided that the main event of No Way Out should showcase all four of the WM title match particpants. So, at No Way Out, it's going to be the World Champion The Rock teaming up with the #1 contender for the WWE Title John Cena to take on the #1 contender for the World Title Shawn Michaels and the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Bragging rights are at stake, and so is the all-important momentum heading into the biggest night in these four men's careers. Rocky, Shawn, Brock, John... I'm giving you the ball. Run with it.

JANUARY 22, 2004 - SMACKDOWN!

We now know that the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will team with RAW's Shawn Michaels to take on John Cena and RAW's World Champion The Rock at No Way Out thanks to Mister McMahon's blockbuster announcement on RAW. Tonight, expect more of the card to fall into place as the Road to WrestleMania rolls on!

The night kicks off with what should be a tremendous cruiserweight tag team match as the former champion Tajiri teams with his protege Akio to take on Ultimo Dragon and young Paul London. London goes after Akio with kicks early before tagging in Dragon for a double suplex. Dragon hits a rolling kick but misses a leg drop allowing Akio to hit a high-flying move and tag in Tajiri, who hits a cross body off the top, then a dropkick. Dragon hits a back suplex and tags in London. London hits strikes and a flying elbow while Dragon and Akio brawl at ringside. Suddenly, Bradshaw (?!?) comes tearing down the aisle and attacks Dragon and Akio, then does the same to London and Tajiri, clearing the cruisers from the ring. They start to go after him, but turn on each other and continue brawling until referees separate them.

Bradshaw grabs a microphone. "My name is John Layfield. Since day one in this company, I have done what's been asked of me. I played a cowboy with a ridiculous moustache and carried a bullrope. I put over a past-his-prime Tracey Smothers and watched him go nowhere. Then I agreed to team up with a past-his-prime Barry Windham to try to re-create a tag team that half the audience didn't even remember. Then I started teaming with a past-his-prime Ron Simmons to do the bidding of a man who was never going to let us get "the rub," so we struck out on our own. And I carried his ass until a stupid green bitch ruined his knee. Then I finally found a partner who "got" me. Bob Holly and I were two peas in a pod. We'd both been stuck with terrible partner after terrible gimmick and stuck putting over terrible wrestlers, and we were both sick of it. And when they put us against each other to qualify for the Royal Rumble... that was our chance! That was our chance to put on a show and make people respect us! No more of this "Backstage Bullies" nonsense. But Bob got too big for his britches. He decided he wasn't just going to beat me, he was going to make me look stupid while he did it. And that attitude got him fired. And you know what? Good riddance! Because it let me know that John Layfield - Company Man wasn't going to get anywhere. So tonight, you can say goodbye to the cowbells and the beer and the rest. I've watched too many greenhorns shoot past me lately, and I'm going to make up for that and get mine. Which is what I should have been doing all along."

A sign of how strong tonight's card is: Kurt Angle is taking on Big Show... next! Show takes the early advantage with strikes and a slam, but Kurt manages to showcase some impressive strength by hitting a suplex and a spinebuster for two. Angle misses an elbow and gets slammed for two. Spinebuster by Show for two more. Angle slams Show, but is attacked out of nowhere by Chavo Guerrero! The ref doesn't see it, as he's attending to Show, but Chavo hits the Brainbuster, allowing Show to pick up the win! Once Angle gets his bearings back, Chavo tries to attack again, but winds up caught in the Angle Lock!

Up next is a tag match that pretty much defines the term "squash." Edge and Undertaker make very short work of the Basham Brothers, with Undertaker pinning Danny after the Last Ride.

More cruiserweight action is up next as Rey Mysterio takes on Chavo Guerrero. Chavo takes the early lead, but Rey fights back with kicks. Excellent match with lots of near falls and reversals. The match ends with Kurt Angle taking some revenge, again putting Chavo in the Angle Lock, then ditching the ring allowing Rey to pick up the win. After the match, Chavo gets laid out by a chairshot from Angle. Angle is out for blood after Chavo's attack earlier, and he gets it, courtesy of a drop toehold onto the chair!

Stephanie McMahon appears on the TitanTron and says that if these two are so intent on destroying each other, let's give them their chance at No Way Out!

Our next contest is for the WWE Tag Team Titles! A-Train and Matt Morgan, the defending champions for over three months, represent the Dangerous Alliance. Their opponents are Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, the World's Greatest Tag Team. Haas and Train start the match, with Train hitting a right hand and a piledriver for two. Tag to Morgan for a Hart Attack. Morgan hits a neckbreaker for two. Morgan hits a kick, but misses a clothesline and eats a springboard dropkick. Shelton tags in and hit s af flying shoulder tackle and a reverse DDT. Train tags back in and hits a DDT and a spinebuster for two. Train hits a kick, but Shelton fights back with a modified powerbomb. The ring starts to fill up, and the ref tries to restore order, and in the chaos A-Train gets GOOOOOOOOOOORED out of nowhere by Rhyno!!! Shelton notices this and goes for the pin. One! Two! THREE! New champions! WGTT celebrate their victory while the Dangerous Alliance look on in shock. Once again, Rhyno has cost the Alliance a title! Now the only member of the DA with a belt is Lesnar! Is he next?

John Cena and Billy Kidman have been skyrocketing up the ranks of the SmackDown! roster over the last few months, with Cena finally breaking the glass ceiling and making it into the main event. Kidman is looking to make it there as well, and has a chance to prove himself tonight against Cena. Good back-and-forth match with both guys getting in a fair amount of offense. In the end, though, Cena's size and strength advantage was too much, and he hits the FU for the win.

The following contest, scheduled for one fall, is a number-one contender's match. The winner will face Eddie Guerrero for the United States Title at No Way Out! They trade forearms to start, then Benoit hits a brutal neckbreaker out of the corner for two. He misses an elbow and gets slammed. O'Haire hits a bulldog for two, then a lifting DDT for another two. Benoit hits a t-bone suplex for two, but gets tripped up into the referee! Benoit takes O'Haire down and makes his throat-slash gesture. He grabs O'haire's arm for the Crossface, but O'Haire swings with his other arm and hits Benoit with brass knucks! The ref wakes up in time to see O'Haire get the pinfall! Benoit is furious. The referee tries to apologize, but Benoit nails him with a clothesline. Why is Chris Benoit so violent?

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon makes it official - Eddie Guerrero will defend the United States Title at No Way Out against Sean O'Haire!

Guerrero is out next for a match against the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. None of the three titles these men posess will be on the line - only bragging rights. Guerrero takes to the air early, but Lesnar starts to outwrestle and overpower him. Eddie puts on a great show, going move-for-move with the champ, but the man who he beat for the Cruiserweight Title (Billy Kidman) manages to sneak to ringside with a chair and blast him as he runs the ropes, allowing Lesnar to hit the F5 for the win. After the match, Lesnar and Kidman assault Eddie until John Cena's music hits and he clears the ring, saving Eddie from further damage as SmackDown! goes off the air.

JANUARY 26, 2004 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW

Tonight, two titles will be on the line, plus three one-on-one matches involving six men embroiled in the most heated rivalries on RAW mixed and matched against unique opponents!

Up first is eight-man tag team action to kick off the last RAW of January, and the eight participants are all looking to get noticed and climb up the card. It's Nova, Rosey, Spike Dudley, and Val Venis versus Boss Man, Chris Nowinski, Mark Henry, and Mark Jindrak! The heels work over Spike and Rosey for the first half of the match until Rosey manages to hot-tag Venis who goes to work on Boss Man before tagging in Nova for some double-team work. Henry manages to tag in Jindrak, but Val tags back in and Val and Nova hit a Hart Attack on Jindrak for two. Jindrak winds up coming back to pick up the win with Splash Mountain on Val.

Kane continues to work his way back to the top part of the card as tonight he faces off against ECW Original Lance Storm. Kane dominates early with power until Storm takes him out with a sweep and a rana. Unfortunately, that's all the offense he can muster, as Kane winds up putting him away with the chokeslam.

Booker T shows up on the TitanTron and congratulates Kane on his big win. But Booker's got something to prove, too, and he's going to do it against Kane at No Way Out.

Up next is our first title match of the night as the Women's Champion Victoria defends against Jazz. Jazz overpowers the champ early until Victoria starts to outwrestle her. Lots of near falls in this one ends when Victoria hits the Widow's Peak to retain.

Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer go way back to their ECW days, and tonight they team up to face Test and William Regal, who are starting to make waves in the tag team division. The faces work over Test for the early part of the match until Test can tag in Regal, who showcases his unique offense with a hotshot and a delayed vertical suplex on Tommy. RVD tags back in and hits a seated senton, then a suplex of his own for a long two. The match degenerates into a brawl, which gives La Resistance the opening they need to attack RVD with a double DDT, allowing Regal to set up Power Of The Punch for the win. La Res signal for their finisher, but Nova and Spike Dudley come tearing down the aisle to the rescue. The ECW Originals stand tall!

La Resistance get a microphone and Rob Conway cuts a promo on RVD, about how these ECW thugs can't possibly compare to class acts like La Res and Test and Regal. Blah blah blah America sucks etc. etc. Basically, it's build-up for a ten-man tag match pitting La Res, Test, and Regal against RVD, Dreamer, Nova, Spike, and Lance Storm at No Way Out. But, since I can't actually "announce" that in-game, that's how I'm setting it up.

Our other title match tonight pits the dominant World Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz against Vitamin C. D-Von and Jericho start off the match, and he and Christian isolate him, but not for long as Bubba comes in like a house of fire before Jericho tagging in and hitting him with a high cross body for two. Bubba manages to take Jericho down, but Christian sneaks up and prepares to slam him, but he accidentally nicks Jericho with Bubba's boot, which allows Bubba to fight out of the slam and nail a Bubba Cutter for the win! After the match, Vitamin C look like they're about to fight, but then they turn their attention to the Dudleyz, laying the champs out.

After the match, the Dudleyz cut a promo on Vitamin C about how for all their talk, the Dudleyz still have the World Tag Team Titles!

The first part of our triple-header main event pits the Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy Version 1.0 against Rico. Excellent match with lots of counter-wrestling and near falls gets ruined when Matt whips Rico off the ropes... right into a chair being swung by Batista! Matt hits the Twist of Fate for the cheap win. Batista and Matt go to double-team Rico, but Hurricane hits the ring to make the save with a chair of his own.

Up next it's the World Champion The Rock against Batista! Not a technical masterpiece, but a very entertaining brawl that the crowd gets into. The champ manages to land the Rock Bottom, but before he can put away Batista, Shawn Michaels hits the ring! HBK lays Rock out with a punch, and the ref calls for the bell. The duo go to work on Rock, but out comes Rico to make the save!

And, as you could probably guess, the main event pits Michaels against Hurricane in a very solid one-on-one encounter. Going to skip over the details, but Hurricane winds up getting hung out to dry by Hardy, allowing HBK to land Sweet Chin Music for the win. After the match, The Rock comes down with a chair to chase them both off and save Hurricane. What does this mean for next week?

Well, I'll tell you what it means for next week. Since these six men seem to want a piece of each other so bad, a six-man tag main event has been signed for next week. It's going to be The Rock teaming with Hurricane and Rico against Shawn Michaels, Matt Hardy, and Batista! Plus, more build-up for the Booker/Kane and ECW/"Civilization" matches. You don't want to miss RAW next week!

JANUARY 29, 2004 - SMACKDOWN!

The last WWE show of January kicks off with a rematch from last week as Paul London teams with Ultimo Dragon to take on Kyo Dai's Tajiri and Akio. London takes the fight to Akio early with a spinning kick and a neckbreaker for two. Double clothesline by the faces gets two more. Dragon hits a neckbreaker but misses a legdrop and gets armdragged for two. Tajiri comes in with a seated senton for two, then nails a dropkick. Dragon dropkicks Tajiri's knee, then tags in London, who hits a standing kick to knock Tajiri into his corner. Akio tags in and eats another neckbreaker, and London finishes him off with London Calling for the win. Absolutely tremendous match that definitely puts London on the map. ...which, I guess it already was, since it's a city and stuff.

Up next, we're treated to a celebration ceremony for the United States and Cruiserweight Champion, Eddie Guerrero. He thanks Undertaker and Rhyno for their help, but mostly he's there to put himself over and how incredible his accomplishment is. Note: no one has held both titles simultaneously since Lance Storm in the dying days of WCW.

More tag team action is up next as the FBI's Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli take on the formidable duo of Kurt Angle and Undertaker. The FBI actually manage to isolate Angle early with double-team moves and some brawling, but Palumbo mistimes an avalanche and Angle boots him in the face, following it up with a butterfly suplex and tagging in UT. Taker pummels Palumbo until Palumbo manages to tag in Stamboli, who again manages to get some offense in. Unfortunately, he tries for a piledriver and gets backdropped for his troubles. Taker hits the Last Ride for the win.

Last week, John Layfield announced his presence as someone to be reckoned with, and tonight he's jumping right off the deep end as he takes on the #1 contender for the WWE Title - John Cena. Lots of brawling from both men ends with Cena hitting the FU for the win. After the match, Layfield shoves the referee aside and nails Cena with the Clothesline From Hell! John Layfield has made a statement!

Paul Heyman leads his Dangerous Alliance to the ring and he does not look happy. "My friends, I stand before you a disappointed man. A man whose hubris led him to believe that he ruled the wrestling world, only to find that the army he'd assembled was... insufficient. I thought I had surrounded myself with the best assembly of talent ever. I had the WWE Champion, the Next Big Thing, the most dominant force in the history of professional wrestling - Brock Lesnar! I had the United States Champion, the Largest Athlete in the World, the most feared big man ever - Big Show! I had the Cruiserweight Champion, the perfect blend of technical wrestling and aerial wizardry - Billy Kidman. And then... there's you." At this, he points at A-Train and Matt Morgan.

"I thought that I could create something from nothing. I thought that if I took two of the most physically gifted big men with no real direction and paired them up, I'd have an unstoppable tag team, but look at you! Billy and Show both lost their gold because of Undertaker and Rhyno, but you... there are two of you! And there was one of him! And now I look around this ring, and I only see one belt. And if you can't protect your own gold... How the hell am I supposed to expect you to protect his? Look, Matt, Train, this is nothing personal. This is just... business." And all of a sudden, Lesnar, Show, and Kidman assault Train and Morgan, absolutely pummeling them before walking away with Heyman.

Speaking of Rhyno, he's up next in a match against the #1 contender for the United States Title - Sean O'Haire. Good back and forth match with both men getting their share of near-falls. Rhyno looks like he's about to take control and goes for a clothesline, but O'Haire pulls the referee into the way. The ref calls for the bell and DQs O'Haire. O'Haire slides out of the ring, proud of himself for avoiding getting bulldozed by Rhyno, but out of nowhere Chris Benoit attacks! Benoit has been verbally abused by O'Haire for weeks now, and he's had enough! He rolls O'Haire back into the ring and clamps on the Crippler Crossface! O'Haire taps, but this isn't an official match, so Benoit continues the hold. Sweet Jesus, somebody get a bible! ...ahem.

After the break, O'Haire has been helped backstage, and now Benoit is preparing for a match against Chavo Guerrero. Good back-and-forth match that unfortunately gets cut short when O'Haire returns to the ring to hit the Prophecy on Benoit allowing Chavo to pick up the cheap win. O'Haire returns to the ring to continue the punishment until Kurt Angle hits the ring! He brawls with Chavo until Benoit comes to and they send their rivals from the ring.

Angle grabs a microphone and tells Chavo that he can't wait until No Way Out, because he can't wait to break his freaking ankle. Oh, it's true. It's damn true!

It was announced on WWE.com this week that at No Way Out, there's going to be a triple threat for the WWE Tag Team Titles with the World's Greatest Tag Team defending against two teams to be determined by singles matches over the next two weeks. The winner of each match gets to pick their partner for the title match. Billy Kidman comes to the ring two stablemates later for a match against Rey Mysterio. Rey dominates the start of the match until Kidman turns things around with a series of kicks for two. Rey fights back with some high-flying for a couple more two counts until Kidman lands a dropkick. In the end, though, Rey hits the West Coast Pop to pick up the win.

Backstage, Rey comes through the curtain, his music still playing, and he's approched by Edge. "Are we still on?" And yes they are. Rey's partner in the title match is going to be Edge!

Our main event of the evening pits the WWE Tag Team Champions the World's Greatest Tag Team against the Dangerous Alliance's Big Show and Brock Lesnar. Shelton Benjamin starts off the match against his college teammate Lesnar and actually takes control early. Tag to Haas, and they hit a double suplex. Haas continues the punishment until Lesnar plants him with a brutal piledriver for two. Tag to Show, who clotheslines the hell out of Haas twice. He goes for a slam, but gets suplexed. Tag to Benjamin, who hits a back suplex. Show tags in Lesnar, who runs into a knee lift. In the confusion, Rhyno hits the ring with a chair and blasts Lesnar with it, allowing Shelton to hit the Superkick for the win! After the match, WGTT celebrate the win as SmackDown! goes off the air.
