I thought the same thing tbh about MJF being ejected from ringside when that was the stipulation of the match...

Also thought it was a dumb "stipulation" to begin with for him to choose

I would bet that something is going to happen in the first Omega/Christian match that makes Christian unavailable for the match at All Out. And then they put in a surprise replacement.

Yeah, on AEW's subreddit and AEW Twitter there is this subset of people who think it's somehow gonna actually be Punk vs. Omega at All Out and I don't understand that line of thinking at all. It wouldn't be announced until, bare minimum, the Chicago Rampage.

Punk vs. Omega on a two week build is lunacy in and of itself. And that's before you consider that either Omega would need to lose to someone who hasn't wrestled in nearly eight years, Punk would need to lose his return match, or you're doing a bullshit non-finish. Oh and if it's a title match, as janky as AEW's ranking system may be, giving someone a title shot instantly flies in the face of everything they've done so far.

It is strange that they're doing Omega/Christian on Rampage and it does raise my suspicions on if they'll actually wrestle at All Out because it really isn't AEW's style to do the same match that close together, but I don't know who else he'd work at this stage. Darby is #2 in the rankings right now and could conceivably get the shot but he's also rumored to be Punk's opponent. But then again Sammy Guevara is teasing a "major announcement" next week so who knows, maybe somehow he is working Punk instead.

They're keeping me guessing on this PPV, that's for sure. Lot of directions they could conceivably go. Looking forward to it.

The right move would be to have Christian win the Impact title. Omega throws a fit and challenges him to a winner take all match, which Christian then also wins.

Punk vs Omega at All Out is as much on the table of potential as Punk vs Darby. Neither have any actual build at this moment. AEW booking Cage and Omega twice in a row doesn't jive with any smart booking, something will happen to knock Christian out of the PPV slot.

But who gets the shot? It's gotta be Hangman or Punk. I know people think that Hangman is out on paternity leave but his wife is due in December. Also, nothing says that if it is Hangman he is destined to win the championship in this match, same for Punk. Everything is up in the air and possible at this time. The one thing I don't see happening is us seeing Christian vs Omega at both Rampage and All Out.

I think there's actually a solid chance Christian beats Omega on Friday, especially if AAA are putting Andrade over Omega for the Mega Title on Saturday. You have Omega's first loss be to an AEW competitor.

But it doesn't have to be a long-form PPV match, that can be saved for All Out. You don't even have to have Christian beat him "clean in the middle". Can be a flash pin type situation, which completely throws him off his game for Saturday's match too. And by Dynamite you have an increasingly desperate Omega clinging to the only title he has left.

I can’t see them run the same match twice. I think we’ll see some shenanigans with the Rampage match, and that gets us to All Out. Putting Punk in that spot would be dumb. And as mentioned it goes against their booking logic to this point. They’ve made it a point for guys to earn their title shots. Not to mention, there’s no win in Punk going for the belt his first match. The payoff has been clearly building towards Omega putting over Paige, you don’t want Punk to lose his debut and you certainly don’t want to throw away a two year build just to hot shot a title.

Punk v Darby seems like a safe bet. The world title match is the one I’m clueless on. Can’t see them giving away their World title match on TV.

I feel like Christian will win the Impact Title, then have a contractual obligation to defend it at All Out, thus removing him from the AEW title match.

Or maybe it will just be a hotshot title change and All Out will be for both belts so Kenny can pad his stats a la Charlotte.

No way in hell I'd run Punk v Darby yet. That has disaster written all over it. You either have your big debut lose his comeback match or you have your hottest homegrown talent get his momentum crushed by losing to a guy who hasn't wrestled in 8 years. Or you have a screwy finish, ruining the first match back for Punk anyways.

Punk v Darby for his first feud is something WWE would book.

Punk needs to go against someone that is a credible worker but isn't in any kind of plans to be pushed any time soon. Someone that can work a good match with him but let Punk go over in convincing fashion. I don't know who that is rn though. I just know that Punk has to go over strong in his debut to try and shake off that 8 year hiatus and the stigma of getting beat up in MMA.

They need to stop booking so many goddamn jobber fly boys and start booking guys like Pac, Lucha Bro's, Mox, Kingston, Andrade, Archer and other bad ass guys they have that sit out all too often. Almost everyone from this thread had a groan about the announced card last night, the more non-committed fan would see that and just not watch.

I think AEW generally do a good job at mixing their talent in and out to avoid overexposure from people wrestling the same match week in, week out but I do think the stars should always, at least, get some sort of vignette or promo or something if they're not booked to wrestle.

Unless I missed it yesterday I didn't see Mox, Kingston, or Archer featured at all.

Yeah Dante is undeniable, he's gonna be a star. Danny Garcia I can see doing well too, but I as I was watching the match last night I was struggling to remember exactly who he was. I agree. I'm especially frustrated with how infrequent AEW has featured Death Triangle and Andrade. Andrade needs to be pushed as a big fucking superstar and ever since his last match it feels like the star meter has been sliding further and further down. As bad as Andrade is on the mic because of his lack of English, Chavo isn't really any better and comes of like he's as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Also in a separate gripe, they are abusing the Tony Schiavone in ring interview. They do it a few times each show and usually the interviewee just takes the mic and renders Tony useless. It's dumb.

Yeah they need to stop having Tony interview people in the ring after matches multiple times per show. It's entirely unneeded. Kinda drains the energy a bit sometimes when he walks in there and starts asking questions after an exciting match.

Yeah the Tony stuff is just like WWE promos - one question asked and the wrestler just cuts a promo. Only difference is this is in the ring instead of backstage.

There are no actual interviews anymore.

Figured they’d see a dip with a less than stellar card. I agree they need at least vignettes or promos of the big stars and at least put one of them in action.

I disagree. For one, Darby is at a point that losing isn’t going to hurt him. He hasn’t been beaten clean in ages. He’s been heavily protected. And he’s gone over in his last three longer term feuds. Secondly, the type you’re describing is Darby. He’s established, he’s over, he’s a great worker and he can bump for Punk. AEW protects most of their long term assets. Darby is no exception. And there aren’t a ton of heels that aren’t already busy with something else. I think as a good old fashioned exhibition it’s fine. The same way feeding Sammy Zayn to Nakamura was fine and didn’t hurt Sammy. Granted Nak was a regular competitor overseas. But still.

I also think it’s the most interesting match they could do in such short notice. Darby hasn’t had anything obvs lined up since disposing off Ethan Page. I’m all for the Punk match.

After that I’d like to see Punk feud with either MJF or Ricky Starks. I think the contrast in personalities would lead to entertaining promo segments and an eventual good to great match.

I don’t feel like AEW insults my intelligence, they don’t have lazy ass rematch salad booking, they mostly have known when to pivot direction for characters, and I mostly enjoy what they present. Think the only angle I’ve flat out didn’t care about was the QT v Cody feud. And even then they had a pretty good payoff match on TV do it want a complete loss.

Not to mention, they take guys I like and actually present them in a way that makes me want to keep watching them. Miro being a prime example.
