Promotion Wars/EWR/TEW
I know this probably belongs in the video games or another forum, but it is primarily wrestling related so I figured it was a good place to get opinions, etc.
I was reminded earlier of my days playing Promotion Wars and Extreme Warfare. How many of you guys used to play or still play games like Promotion Wars, Extreme Warfare or Total Extreme Warfare? I always loved being head booker/creative. I haven't played any of these games in years and would love to possibly start playing again. Does anyone know if/how I can get these games on my Macbook without running an emulator like Windows Parallel? Also, feel free to share any of your best storylines/feuds if you used to or still play. I'd love to hear or get some ideas if I actually do get back into playing. |

No, but my action figure promotion was great. Had a pretty large book full of all my "episode" cards and PPV cards. Shame I have no idea where that book is.

The Biker Mice were a badass stable, until Vinnie and Throttle turned against Modo, leading to a main event push for Modo.

Would probably be a lot easier to do the intros for my action figure promotion these days with being able to play their songs from a laptop/iPod/whatever, rather than having to keep changing CD's.

yeahhh, that would have been amazing
closest I ever came to doing that was recording Ted DiBiase's music off the TV onto a cassette, making some variety of arena/entrance way from cereal/small cardboard boxes, decorating them with WWF stickers that I already had in my sticker book and making DiBiase vs. Virgil in my mini-arena the biggest match since Hogan/Andre |

Lol yeah I pushed Kurrgan to the main event because for a while him, Goldust and Al Snow were the only actual wrestling action figures I had. Also I didn't even have many CD's back then so pretty much everybodies entrance themes were off The Offspring's 'Americana' or Greenday's 'Nimrod'.
When I think back I was definitely a very solid booker considering my age, although the 12 man elimination match (in which you get eliminated by being both pinned AND submitted) for the world title may have been a bit much. |

For reasons I can't remember, I attempted to throw my friend's Chyna action figure over the roof of his house. Didn't make it. The Chyna figure remained on the roof in the same spot for years even after he had moved out. Would see it pretty much every day while coming home from school.

Used to play Promotion Wars back in the day. Lance Storm was always one of my main attractions.
Never got into Extreme Warfare. I was too lazy for all the work involved in it. |

I have a pretty solid EWR game going right now as ROH. If you want details, I will give them. If not, let's not waste anyone's time here.

Every match I ever made with my action figures ended with one of them going through tables stacked 5 high.
God I was a great booker. |

I just wrapped up a successful Backlash 2017 and in the process of building towards Judgment Day. I have some new wrestlers fresh from developmental to help break up some of the monotony. I've got Kane retiring at the end of the month and I might as well use him to help put one of the new guys over. Here are some quick results from Backlash:
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Mark Mason defeated Don Maiden to retain the title. 93% Evan Bourne pinned Cash Stevens. 92% WWE U.S. Heavyweight Champion Pete Shapiro pinned Drew McIntyre to retain the title. 94% WWE Diva's Champion Natalya pinned Nicole Durgan to retain the title. 92% AJ Styles and newly turned CM Punk defeated The Status Quo to win the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles. 97% (!) Mr. Kennedy pinned Jack Swagger. 91% Chris Sylvain defeated Batista by DQ. 94% The Miz pinned Kofi Kingston in a triple threat match also involving WWE Champion John Morrison to win the title for a second time. 86% Overall rating: 93% For some reason, everything Kingston touches turns to crap despite some very impressive stats and wrestling guys who are also awesome. I'm thinking of just jobbing him out for a while to put over some new guys and just letting him go. Anywho, over on Raw, the Status Quo storyline is going to continue to evolve, Miz and Morrison have one more date with destiny, and Styles and Punk are going to try to make this tag title reign work. Over on SmackDown!, Rhodes and DiBiase are at odds, Ian Moore is taking his first steps towards being a successful World Heavyweight Champion, Sean Criss is eager to cash in his Money in the Bank contract but is apparently on the shelf, Sheamus and Rhyno seem to enjoy beating the hell out of each other, and newcomer Apocalypse has laid out the challenge to the Big Red Machine Kane! And best of all? No Mark Henry!!! Stay tuned!!! Championship roll call: World Heavyweight Champion: Ian Moore; won title at WrestleMania 33 from Jason Collins. Next scheduled defense: Judgment Day against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in a triple threat match WWE Champion: The Miz; won title at Backlash 2017 from John Morrison in a triple threat match also involving Kofi Kingston. Next scheduled defense: John Morrison in a ladder match in two weeks on Raw WWE U.S. Heavyweight Champion: Pete Shapiro; won title at Survivor Series 2016 from Cash Stevens. No upcoming defenses scheduled. WWE Intercontinental Champion: MVP; won title at WrestleMania 33 from Cody Rhodes in a triple threat match also involving Bryan Danielson. Next scheduled defense: Sean O'Haire at Judgment Day WWE Diva's Champion: Natalya; won title at Royal Rumble 2017 from Nicole Durgan. Next scheduled defense: Judgment Day against Lisa Benton WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Mark Mason; won title at Bragging Rights 2016 from Alex Furious. Next scheduled defense: Judgment Day against Matrix WWE Unified Tag Team Champions: AJ Styles and CM Punk; won titles from Bret Banderas and Brian York at Backlash 2017. Next scheduled defense: A rematch two weeks from now on Raw. |

I just assumed M-A-G and I were the only ones who still cared about this. When I stopped caring about my game, I decided not to post about any subsequent games, since I didn't think anyone would notice.

I turn on EWR and play every now and then, but I know myself well enough to know that I'll just stop again within a week...so posting my progress is kinda pointless.

This is pretty much what happens with me with TEW. Just randomly turned it on tonight but the company I'm running is only doing monthly shows so I started just "Next day"ing it. Gotta do that 27 times and it takes a couple minutes to get to the next day. By the time I finally hit the next show, I'll forget about the game and not come back to it for a while.

I've been considering doing a new game under the premise that the Monday Night Wars never ended.
Bischoff was able to buy WCW from Turner through his production company, and moved Nitro and Thunder to USA, who wanted new wrestling programming after the WWF jumped to Spike TV. The WWF, not wanting to change their identity in the face of continued competition, settled out of court with the Fund to be allowed continued use of the initials for an annual donation. Paul Heyman goes into business with his friend Cary Silkin, who was considering starting his own promotion, but instead helps keep ECW afloat by bringing in a cadre of top independent stars. Basically, I'd play as all three promotions, posting results, ratings, and buyrates as I go. But, I don't know what kind of interest there is anymore. |

How would you play as all 3 promotions? I'm not sure that EWR allows that functionality.

Think I will spend my day downloading EWR and find a scenario I like and give the thread a reboot. If anyone is interested. |

Awesome. My game is ongoing. I installed it on my work laptop though and didn't bring home with me to do the write ups.
Keep minimising work and having a quick play on ewr. Quite fun (until I get caught) |

Yes. I used TNM 6 and 7 in like high school but it doesn't work on this gen of computers without Dosbox and I couldn't get it to work. Used it for results when I ran a trivia/RP fed.

I loved EWR, spent so much time on it. I remember one of my best fueds being Rhyno vs Kurt Angle for the WWE title, Rhyno became champ and his popularity sky rocketed.

I still have EWR on my computer and every couple of months I'll download the latest roster update in case I want to start a new game. I don't think I can book more than a month though without losing steam even if I have a million ideas floating in my head. And then once I open EWR again I feel like I want to start over because I forgot what storylines I was going for.

I had the same issue with TEW. I'd spend a few sessions booking some shows and then when I take a month break I can't get a good idea of the storylines I had going on and it's tough to get back into it.
EWR is easier for casual booking because it requires less focus. Starting a local company and trying to build it up is WAY more fun with TEW though. I'm two years in and I'm still at local drawing a crowd of less than 100 people but I've gotten to the point where I can at least break even every month. It's a cool challenge. |

Some people seem to like EWR the best because of it's simplicity but personally I would say TEW 2005. It takes longer but you control so many more aspects and the ratings and stuff are more precise and harder to bring up.

If you can get DosBox to work TNM is the best pure wrestling sim. It's good program to see who would actually win with complete movesets and full match results. The others are "general manager" modes rather than a wrestling simulator.
