I really like Cervelli, scrappy guy who just has intangibles and a good brain behind the plate. However, his lack of power will not endear him to the NYY brass and he will be relegated to AAA purgatory.

$17 mil/year on the deal, too. No need for a no trade clause since his 10/5 rights kick in soon. This must have Vito doing back flips. He'll be 37 at the end of the deal. So, assuming he stays healthy and puts in at least 140 games/year, and his career slash line status in tact, the only rough years will be age 36 &37. The Mets did good here, imo.

So ecstatic. Love Wright so much. I fully expected the front office to cock this up, but I'm glad they had the sense to lock up the best everyday player in their history for basically the rest of his career.

I've never gotten a Mets jersey (only player shirts), and Wright seemed like the easy choice. I was holding off on getting one until a deal was done to ensure he wasn't going to walk. Looks like my mind is made up now.

I would be thrilled too, if my shitty loser team signed big money to a guy that will be on the downside of his career by the time they can contend. Meanwhile they continue to make shitty moves that have relegated them to a joke of a major market team.

I really liked him 3 years ago. Feel like the Bronx can lose a few dingers from the C position and be OK. I think he has yet to peak, is a solid Defensive catcher and could be a 270 average guy batting 8th or 9th.

Cervelli doesn't hit for power, but he had a streak a couple years ago where he was an RBI machine. If a guy was in scoring position, Cervelli would get a hit. Yankees need guys who aren't home run happy.

Hanson has regressed over the past couple of years, but I think he can get back somewhat to what he was.

Cubs arent making any splashes unless someone is willing to take a risk on Garza, offer the world for Castro, or deal for Marmol. That's about all they have left to trade and making a big FA signing at this stage in the rebuilding process is dumb.....and I just gave them a few thousand for my season tix.

As TPWW's friendly neighborhood Braves fan, I will say I'm happy Tommy Hanson is gone. His mechanics are awful, and he lost a good 7-8 MPH last year on all his pitches. He may be the easiest pitcher to steal a base against in the majors. And he is basically a bullpen's worst nightmare, he usually can only go five innings. And the Braves are apparently gearing up to spend some more cash, I'd imagine, so not a bad cost-cutting measure with the backlog (as much as you can call it that) that they have with starting pitching.

As for the Braves' bullpen, it honestly can't get much better at this point. Need a decent innings eater, maybe.
