Dynamite has been in or near the 1m mark for a while now. I wonder how much Punk being confirmed to being on the show will boost those numbers. That’s a stellar number for a Friday night show.

Selfishly, I don't care about ratings. I just love engaging content and good wrestling which they've delivered plenty of. Just look at the WALTER title match from TakeOver. Ratings never define quality just like box office collections. I understand why it is exciting for people but when I heard the rumors for CM Punk showing up on Rampage, my mind never went to ratings. I just wanted to witness it like a fan.

I’ve always said there is no reason AEW shouldn’t be beating Monday Night Raw. Gerty and I respectfully disagree on that. But when you’ve got a 3-hour dinosaur that doesn’t even necessarily warrant being top priority anymore, it shouldn’t be that difficult for a 2-hour program in a prime time slot with unlimited capital to compete with that average. Especially unopposed by other wrestling. Also, I like the way people are gawking at this 1 million number on a Friday night like it’s such an amazing triumph. What does it say about the other numbers they have been doing? What does it say about the Dynamites that would get <700k which people vehemently defended as wonderful numbers? This is what happens when you sign actual stars, which is what I said they should do from the start. They’re finally doing what I wanted them to do, in theory, and they reap rewards. Funny that. I saw the Punk segment. It was alright. I’m not impressed by modern crowds. Punk can talk. The content of his stuff was sound. But it’s AEW. They fuck up every golden goose that waddles their way. And sure enough they did this week delivering a Dynamite, probably their most watched ever, making people scratch their heads. And it’s not just me. It’s most message boards you go to. It’s Wade Keller. It’s people in live attendance. This company doesn’t know how to do pro-wrestling. Sorry, but they don’t. It’s a bunch of white noise and eventually Daddy’s money secures a free agent and they get a windfall and everyone gets excited before they realize the rest of the show is the drizzling shits. They opened with Matt Hardy? Really? Yeah, nothing like sticking it to the evil WWE with their old-timers like using Jeff’s brother to try and hook people. They don’t even have the better Hardy. The good things about Punk, Bryan and probably Cole signing were promising. The more good talent they have the less room there is for the horseshit. And those talents could be influential. If what they do sees results, maybe Omega and The Bucks will cut out their wannabe comedy heel acts? Or maybe it just leads to jealous and implosion? The other thing is that the WWE may have actually accepted an unintentional Trojan horse by no-selling AEW. Because they could no-sell them. Their immediate impact was negligible. But now they have chased enough people with friends, enough people who feel like they can’t express themselves, enough people who aren’t seeing the changes they want to see over. And talent like Punk and Bryan could influence the decisions of other talent to jump. Ashley Flair might go if they treat her father and Andrade right. Kofi Kingston might go since Punk and Bryan have been supporters. The rest of New Day might follow, especially with WWE’s third party thing. If AEW actually got good, cut the shit, treated talent right, they could be the preferred place for talent to work. But they have kind of already squandered the CM Punk hype. They might get another week out of it, but that first impression? Yeesh. How is it any better than SmackDown? How is it even much better than Raw. You can’t even say that AEW doesn’t put guys in ridiculous costumes. It’s impossible to get excited about AEW because of anything they do. You have to bring it in. Force it. Because you’ve watched so much bad WWE that you will accept and will forward anything else. I can’t do that, because I won’t settle for one shit company just because I reject another one, and current wrestling can’t play to my emotions anymore. It doesn’t make sense. There is no logic. There is no psychology. There is no fidelity. There is barely any coherent episodic flow to the shows. It’s a bunch of shit thrown at people who, whether captive because of their own attachment to wrestling, or they’ve just fallen for the cult of personality, will eat it up because it is not Vince. If Vince McMahon was revealed to be the true guy funding AEW, everybody would turn on it in a heartbeat and be way more honest about how this shit sucks. The best thing you can say about that is that at least that type of silly emotional response is still an emotional response. It’s just not connected to the product actually being good for people who want that. |

An official All Out prediction. Ric Flair will accompany Andrade to the ring for his match against PAC and will cause the distraction for the finish.

According to Gavin the Hardy push may get "pulled" down to the TNT Championship. Likely now is a 3-Way Dance match at All In with Miro vs Orange Cassidy vs Matt Hardy. It is said that Hardy requested to be moved out of the planned World Championship program because he didn't want to take the heat from the eventual planned program with Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega.
It is said that when Matt pins Miro clean in the ring that he will then begin an initial championship program with Darby Allin and Sting leading to strong victories over both before landing a main event Winter is Coming Program against CM Punk. Punk has said in recent interviews that he is a "TNT guy" so it is possible that Hardy's run could end at that point and Punk will carry the TNT mantle forward. It seems that the planned belt collector gimmick for Matt may be put on hold altogether but that Impact is open to the idea of a Big Money program with Matt and Christian exclusive to Impact to help boost their paid Youtube subscription service. |

I just read that AEW will soon be taping Dark in a studio setting. This was reported when Rampage was announced and now it seems to be in the works. I am wondering if AEW will team up with NWA and use the studio that they use for tapings?
You don't want to oversaturate the market for NWA, but I can't really imagine where they will shoot otherwise. I think that the old school studio wrestling approach will do great for Dark. I haven't watched Dark in over a year but I will certainly check out whatever they do next as far as the studio goes. Want to note that the last episode of Elevation has 500k views on Youtube, uploaded 3 days ago and for Dark 337k views uploaded 2 days ago. Viewership over time seems to vary depending on the show. |

Lot's of festivals and parades and such being canceled in NYC due to Covid concerns. No big events that I have heard of though. And the US Open is going as planned which takes place at Arthur Ashe's smaller stadium, maybe Ashe as well I'm not sure exactly. They are running without a mask mandate or vaccine mandate as well, I don't know how that is possible but that's what I've read.

Pretty good Tony Khan interview on the Le Batard Show. He talks about the Punk stuff but also talks a lot about Vince. He’s actually pretty complimentary. |

I'm assuming if it's "postponed indefinitely" it'll be one of those deals where it's your call to either get a refund or just keep your seats reserved for whenever the new date is. But I don't wanna think about that. |

Hey bud I saw the other day you posted you were taking a break from wrestling and you’re already back. I really think it would be beneficial to your well being if you really did take a break for a while. You’re clearly unhappy and it appears to be affecting your mental health. Maybe some time away and reflection would be good for you.

I’ll be in Mexico next weekend and won’t get to watch all out till Monday evening. Which is a bummer because there’s an AMC theater playing it for $25 admission and a friend mine wanted to go. Seems like it’d be a cool environment. Live crowd vibe but with the benefit of at home style viewing and commentary. Next time.

Who could care about Danielson coming in at this point? He’s not going to matter outside his first, maybe second, appearance. Because they fuck up EVERYTHING.
This reminds me of when people were excited that Asuka was getting called up to the main roster. How did that work out? |

Cornette on this week’s Drive-Thru:
“They (WWE) are handing this over in a quick period of time and don’t even realize it, so this is very interesting. And I will not now poo poo AEW’s chances over the next few months like I had been poo pooping over the last couple years because sooner or later a blind squirrel finds a nut. Whether this has been serendipity, planning or quite a bit of both, they’ve changed the fucking stratosphere here a bit in the past month and it looks like it will continue to be that way because the other side is the gang that can’t shoot straight. I’m amazed. I am amazed at the reversal. Suddenly Tony Khan has just gone behind Vince and waist locked him. And he’s fixing to Iron Shiek/Brian Blair his ass if he’s not careful” |

You know more about AEW than anyone else here. You write multi paragraph essays about how much you hate it and you comment on every single show. It’s the only thing you post about. And you’ve been doing this for months. You get furious at us because we like something you don’t. This behavior isn’t healthy. You really should think about stepping away.

Whether you like or enjoy AEW, there’s no logical way to describe how they’re doing as shit. They just got a third hour TV, signed the biggest free agent in wrestling, are likely plucking one of the biggest and most organically over stars of the last decade, and are getting paid more for switching networks next year while also gaining more revenue via semi regular TV showcases like clash of the champions used to be.
AEW is not for everybody, obviously. But they’re also obviously very successful to this point and things are only looking up. Poor noid seems to have fallen off the deep end now that Cornette is being complimentary of them, even if it’s in a backhanded way. |

Not gonna lie I’m mildly salty that Bryan’s debut pop is probably happening at All Out instead of Grand Slam.
Of course, if Bryan actually has his first AEW match at Grand Slam it’s a worthwhile trade-off. |

I get annoyed when people say something is good and it isn’t. People are allowed to like what they like. But the irony is that people get salty at my perfectly valid opinion because it doesn’t fall in line with their narrative. You’re literally trying to stop me from liking what I like and not liking what I don’t with this post. Funny how none of that comes up when it comes to a declining WWE over the past 20 years. Well, unless it’s someone pointing out that Alexa Bliss isn’t very good. What bothers people so much is that I’m right. That’s really it. If they could dismiss my opinion, they’d do it, but the uncomfortable truth is that I’m right on the money with these shit-shows, and people just don’t want to hear about it in regards to their darlings. |

The WWE is their own worst enemy and the best friend to AEW right now. AEW is also its own worst enemy. Neither of these promotions can avoid shooting themselves in the foot.

Rampage pulling 722k for episode 3. Lowest rating so far but still better than I was expecting given it was taped and Dynamite was mediocre at best.
EDIT: apparently they were #1 in the 18-49 demo so that’s probably a win. RE REDIT: #1 for cable originals, whatever tf that means. Stupid Twitter and is lacking context |
