Eh, the free speech thing is a muddled mess sometimes. I don't mind arguing back and forth with people off-topic, but there being rules on a forum is something I can understand. If a mod chooses to delete my posts or whatever, so be it. Some discussions we are done with as people -- we have the empirical evidence and some people ignoring it don't really deserve the honor of genuine discussion.

I get why Smeat is upset by this. It's fucking gross and it's a waste of time talking about why. But I don't mind letting Swiss' bullshit speak for itself either.

Part of free speech is being able to walk away from conversations you don't want to participate in too. I may not be able to tell someone what to think or say, but they can't force me to actively listen to them either.

I think the suggestion that people think they are right because they are offended is a non-sequitur. People are often offended when you ignore evidence and the like. It's a dismissal of someone because they don't like something along with not agreeing with it. That's too easy.
