Rate the Game: Week 138
Make way, folks! Once again we are called upon to do this Rate the Game shit and we always answer the call. Right? Well, we'll see how many of us brave gamers dared to try out this week's game, but last week's Mortal Kombat (2011) needs to get placed in its appropriate spot on our leaderboard. How much was the reboot of the long-running series loved amongst us here in the TPWW community? Let's have a look....
Well, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 doesn't have to worry about getting upstaged at this point in time as Mortal Kombat (2011)/9 gets itself an OK showing of 3.33. Maybe Robo-Smoke would've helped its chances? I know the Cyber Sub-Zero was fucking great. Is greatness in the cards for our next game? Week 138 is set to kick off. All we need is the bowl. Come forth and do your job, buddy! I swear on my autographed Halestorm album I'm filming all of these motherfuckers horizontally, BUT THE CAMERA JUST WANTS TO BE A LITTLE BITCH! Ahem... Anyways, this week's pick is certainly an odd one. Not really sure why I made the call to include it. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised at the love you all have for it. It's the bromance-inducing shooter fest that is Army of Two! Was it such a gem that you insisted on bringing along a buddy to enjoy the experience or is it a dud? Let's see what you all have to say on this one and we'll see you next week! No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

Actually had to look up which one of the Army of Two trilogy games I didn't play since it was either the first or second game but it turns out it was the second game.
Gave it a 2 mostly because I don't remember much about it besides not liking it as much compared to the third game Devil's Cartel nor played it that much. Don't remember if I ever finished the first game either. |

I remember getting this as a Gamefly rental because the commercials for it made it look neat, and I had a friend who would've been perfect with whom to play it. Unfortunately, he was rarely available and the thing collected dust during the time I had rented it. I probably should've just played it solo, but I think I might've missed out on the intended experience. Like playing Operation on your own, you know?

Gave it a 3 because the first game was solid and EA probably had a new franchise on their hands.
The subsequent sequels however were rather bad. And that's why this series has been sent to the graveyard. |

It was good man, even solo. One person "gets aggro" while the other mows down the lot. Had to switch off aggro modes, and I think there was even an aggro meter? When it was full you'd go "back to back" in a slo-mo view and PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW!!!! It was great. |

I think it was a bit "ahead of the curve" in terms of what they were trying to do with it.
With the ease of today's "online co-op" environment, this game COULD be successful. Obviously, it isn't a FPS, so it isn't going to make splashes in that regard.... BUT, there's something there. Also given the nature of adding "new content" in terms of how many games do now, you could have a large collection of missions, etc. Shit, I dare say you could make Army of Two game based around any "The Expendables" movies and it'd be fun. Mindless splosions. |
