Superman & Lois on The CW
Was really dubious about this show because of the weird idea of him having twin teenage sons... and then also because after Crisis on Infinite Earths and seeing him standing beside Brandon Routh Superman he looked so "bush league".....
But really enjoyed the pilot episode. They tweaked his Superman costume, looks 100x better and makes him look more "legit" (and without a tall muscular Routh beside him also helps) The teenage sons angle kind of liking... does seem a bit "weird" that they would like to their kids for so long.... in the comics I think Jonathan knew from before his powers started, I can't remember.... Def remember him accidentally exploding a cat but I think he knew before that.... Nice @ Emmanuelle Chriqui being in this... hot braud... playing Lana Lang. "Weird" that made her husband a "Kyle".... they even mentioned Pete later.... Kyle... v close to Kenny, should have just made it Kenny.... The actress who plays Lois has eyes that slightly freak me out.... think one may be slightly lazy, dunno...... but hopefully she gets more of a personality/focus and stuff to do to warrant her co-lead name. Some wokeness about mental illness and anxiety, so gotta watch out for that.... doesn't seem Supergirl levels though.... past season just got added on Netflix and finally finishing it... got to an awful episode where they were pushing the trans angle super hard

Yeah, I didn't feel it was too bad. Though I just watched that Supergirl episode that was all about punching you in the face with wokeness for 1 hour.....

Bitsie Tulloch annoys me but she was in Grimm which is an all time classic show that should still be running. It was so good.

I liked it.
Blew my mind when I found out Superman is the kid in Road to Perdition though. Seriously. |

pilot was a good time, the fleischer logo/action comics #1 tribute made me smile (as did "thanks! my mom made it!")
lot of typical CW shmultz but that's fine, i know what i'm in for with this network saw the "it's actually jordan!" swerve coming a mile off, it kind of would have been more subversive at this point if it actually was the Cool Athletic Son who also had the powers also this show seems weirdly selective about how connected it is to the arrowverse; like the teens are the direct result of crisis and the merging of the earths, which means this is in theory still the "jon cryer is lex luthor" universe, but then old mate at the end was "captain luthor", who, what, will be a future/alternate luthor? i guess? figure him saying he comes from "nowhere now" means he was from a different earth that got destroyed/merged during the crisis kinda sucks that 'supergirl' used up so many of superman's actual villains in its run, gonna have to be mad acrobatics to bring some of them into the narrative here i didn't think they were gonna stick around in smallville either being that we had 10 seasons of a show stuck in smallville but hey whatever either way i'm in for the ride, i like the leads a lot; tyler hoechlin especially is actually a really good fit (def benefits from not being next to routh though, LJ is right) Last edited by mitchables; 02-26-2021 at 12:50 AM. |

Lois got more focus this week.... nice.... Actress who plays Lois though seems kind of like a "dead fish"... dead eyes and one possibly lazy.....
Meanwhile Emmanuelle Chriqui over there brining lots of life to her character.... wish she was Lois instead.... |

That is an excellent summation of Bitsie Tulloch as an actress.

Caught up with this show in my days off... weird how they did the "villain is secretly someone else" bit literally twice in a row....
Lois' eyes still freaking me out a bit but getting more used to it I guess.... still wish they got someone better. Also weird how supposedly shared continuity but Supergirl is never even mentioned ever... (and vice versa on the Supergirl show).... just seems if they are having these world impacting issues they might call each other. |

Superman and Lois were all over the Supergirl show. Maybe not the first season but it was pretty regular after that. Supergirl called Superman more than a few times.

I would not call it "pretty regular" at all... they did explain it for a bit saying that Superman left to go live on Argo while Lois was pregnant and was leaving the Earth in Supergirl's hands....
But then ever since Crisis, and how he is back on Earth now (and maybe never even left) it seems like Supergirl and team def should have called him during last year's Lex Luthor/Leviathan plot.... and then on Superman you'd think dealing with family stuff they'd bring up that his cousin is also there.... Just awkward. I get it, but it is awkward. |

Have not watched since Crisis so you may be right. Before that though he was on a lot. Mentioned a ton too.

Might have been a COVID thing? Supernatural had issues with with bringing back people for the last season. Flash was cut off before their season ended.

Nah, its just a they are two separate shows thing and can't constantly be having each other on it, or calling each other to help with their problems and take away from the drama/story of overcoming it themselves. More convenient to just ignore it compared to just having to continually make excuses and mention why they wouldn't call each other for help.
