Haven't played the second one yet but enjoyed the first game.

The only real issues I had with it was the game starting to feel like a chore to get through during its second half and how the game breaks its rules for combat in the last world and/or second half.

That rules breaking stuff also ended up being the main reason why Ubisoft never bothered to include Donkey Kong and Rabbid Cranky from the DLC expansion pack for the playable characters for the game's multiplayer modes.
