I would not call it "pretty regular" at all... they did explain it for a bit saying that Superman left to go live on Argo while Lois was pregnant and was leaving the Earth in Supergirl's hands....

But then ever since Crisis, and how he is back on Earth now (and maybe never even left) it seems like Supergirl and team def should have called him during last year's Lex Luthor/Leviathan plot.... and then on Superman you'd think dealing with family stuff they'd bring up that his cousin is also there....

Just awkward. I get it, but it is awkward.
