DECEMBER 18, 2003 - SmackDown!

Christmas comes a week early for one of the participants in our opening contest as Scotty 2 Hotty takes on Nunzio for a spot in January's Royal Rumble match! Really good back-and-forth match to start the show that ends with Nunzio clamping on the Sicilian Crab to pick up the submission victory and a Rumble berth.

It's a Cruiserweight Division start to SmackDown, as our second contest also showcases two of the top names in that division as former champion Tajiri takes on Shannon Moore. Lots of near falls in this one, and Tajiri nearly knocks Shannon out with some stiff knees and kicks, and in the end he picks up the win with the Kick of Death.

Up next is a four-team elimination match to determine #1 contenders for the Dangerous Alliance's WWE Tag Team Titles next week. It's the Backstage Bullies against the World's Greatest Tag Team against the Basham Brothers against the FBI. The Bullies are the first to fall as Stamboli catches Holly with a bulldog for a three count. Next is the FBI, as Charlie Haas takes Stamboli off the top with a sick belly-to-belly. WGTT and the Bashams go back and forth with quick tags, but Danny Basham picks up a surprising second-straight victory for his team by spearing Sheton and hitting Haas with Brain Damage!

Rhyno is in the ring for his match, but first he wants the microphone. For the last week, he's been hearing nothing but "Where were you last week?" And the truth is, he wasn't himself last week. He's lost focus. You see, that should have been Rhyno costing Big Show the United States Title last week instead of Undertaker. No disrespect to Undertaker, but taking down the Dangerous Alliance was supposed to be his job. And that's why, starting tonight, no matter what it takes, I'm going to go through the members of the Dangerous Alliance one at a time until Paul Heyman finally gives me what I deserve - a shot at Brock Lesnar!

Billy Kidman has the unfortunate task of being Rhyno's opponent, and Rhyno basically squashes him. He manages to hit a couple of moves, but winds up eating a Gore for the loss. After the match, Rhyno chases him down in the aisle and continues to pummel him. He means business!

Up next is another qualifying match for the Royal Rumble as Edge takes on Billy Gunn. Edge hits a forearm, but Billy takes control for most of the early going until Edge manages to fight back with high-impact offense. Gunn gets some licks in, but in the end, he falls victim to the Edgecutioner, putting Edge in the Rumble!

In a match we've seen several times over the last three months but has yet to disappoint, Eddie Guerrero again teams with John Cena to take on Chavo Guerrero and Sean O'Haire. Chavo (who is still carrying around the United States Title he stole from his uncle Eddie last week) works over Eddie with his feet early before tagging in O'Haire for double-teaming. Cena comes in and begins to overpower his rival. Chavo tags back in, and so does Eddie, and Chavo pulls Eddie's tights to lie, cheat, and steal his way to another victory!

As Eddie fumes in the ring, Paul Heyman leads the Dangerous Alliance to the ring with him. Big Show and Brock Lesnar have a big tag-team main event coming up, but first Paul has an offer for Eddie. The Dangerous Alliance was built on one principle - domination. And last week for the first time, the Alliance came up short when it counted. Eddie Guerrero may have gotten lucky when Undertaker helped him beat Big Show for the United States Title, but a title victory is a title victory. Eddie, the Dangerous Alliance has controlled every title on SmackDown! for over two months, and we're not about to let that go. So, what do you say, Eddie? Do you want to help us keep the title in the fold? Do you want to join the Dangerous Alliance? Eddie thinks about it for a second, then laughs in Heyman's face. Bad idea, as he's quickly jumped by all five members of the D.A., who leave him laying.

It's time for match five in the best-of-seven series between Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio, with each man holding two victories over the other. Whoever wins tonight will be just one win away from a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble! Pretty much the same match they've been having for the last month, with Rey using high-flying moves and Benoit grounding him with power and technical expertise. Benoit nearly picks up the win with a reverse DDT/backbreaker combination, but blows a legdrop, which allows Rey to hit the West Coast Pop for the win!

Kurt Angle is on the microphone backstage. Short and sweet, tag team partners aside, tonight I'm gunning for you, Brock. Undertaker and Show can go on with their little rivalry, but tonight I'm going to make you tap! Just like I'm going to do at Armageddon. Oh, it's true. It's damn true!

Kurt Angle and Undertaker take on Big Show and Brock Lesnar in our big tag-team main event. Show pounds on UT to start, then tags in Lesnar. Double-team moves from the D.A teammates, and Lesnar continues th epunishment. Angle now tags in, and the participants in the Armageddon WWE Title match go at it. Lesnar takes a bit of an advantage, then tags in Show. Show kicks Angle into his own corner, and in comes Undertaker. Taker tries to roll up Show off the ropes, but Show rolls through and grabs the tights for a cheap win!

Next week, Rhyno continues his assault on the Dangerous Alliance as he takes on Big Show! Plus, if Rey Mysterio can beat Chris Benoit, he gets a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble! However, if Benoit wins, they go to a seventh match at Armageddon. Both Guerreros are involved in qualifying matches for the Royal Rumble, plus a Rumble preview pits the World's Greatest Tag Team against Billy Kidman and Nunzio. The Basham Brothers hope to continue their improbable winning streak against the Dangerous Alliance in an attempt to win back their WWE Tag Team Titles. Plus Holly versus Lesnar, Cena versus Edge, and Angle versus O'Haire. It's Christmas Day in World Wrestling Entertainment, and that killer card is our present to you! You don't want to miss it!
