Basically in order of release date (most of the dates are prob only in NY/LA):

This has already been released outside the US and I am downloading it now apparently. ![]() Adam - July 29 Some guy who "has Asperger's" and tries to woo some girl. Preview looked really shitty and annoying but apparently it is supposed to be good so I don't know. ![]() The Cove - July 31 Documentary about dolphins being abused or something like that and is supposed to be "chilling" ![]() Big Fan - August 28 Patton Oswalt as a huge Giants fan who gets beat up by his fav player. Written/directed by the guy who wrote The Wrestler ![]() Taking Woodstock - August 28 Something about Woodstock starring Demitri Martin. ![]() Extract - September 4 New Mike Judge movie and has Kristen Wiig and JK Simmons in it. ![]() The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - September 24 Heath Ledger's last movie, also starring Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell in Ledger's role b/c he died before it was finished. ![]() We Live in Public - September 25 "Documentary chronicles a decade in the life of Internet pioneer Josh Harris, who instigated an 'artificial society' experiment in which more than 100 artists lived under 24-hour surveillance in an underground compound in New York City. After FEMA broke up the project, Harris turned the cameras on himself and his girlfriend." ![]() A Serious Man - October 2 New Coen brothers movie that is supposed to be "semi-autobiographical" The Road - October 16 Based on the novel "The Road" ![]() Antichrist - October 23 Messed up/surreal "horror" movie by Lars von Trier (Dancer in the Dark) ![]() When You're Strange - no release date Documentary about The Doors from Sundance ![]() World's Greatest Dad - August 21 Written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait and starring Robin Williams as "The World's Greatest Dad". "A comedy about a man who learns that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone." ![]() Tetro - already released Francis Ford Coppola movie starring Vincent Gallo. Heard it might have been kinda shitty though so I don't know. ![]() Please post your own Last edited by Triple A; 07-09-2009 at 06:09 AM. |

The Road is one of the best books I've read all year. It's written by the same gentleman who wrote No Country for Old Men.

The author sounds great, but I saw the trailer for the movie and it looked pretty awful.
I guess we'll find out |

I honestly don't know how well it will translate to screen. There's only two characters in the book and not that much dialogue.

The Invention of Lying - "A comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain." Looks like it could go either way, but the cast is phenomenal: Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, Christopher Guest, Jason Bateman, Patrick Stewart

Though I just can't stand Rick Gervais. Everything about him just pisses me off in a way. If the role in The Invention of Lying was played by someone else, in my opinion, it would be a much better film. But I think just this once, I'm going to look past Gervais and go see the film anyway. |

The Hurt Locker. Kathryn Bigelow knows how to hang with the boys in terms of directing.

I think Gervais is a pretty solid choice. I loved him in the Office and in Extras. I'm just glad Will Ferrell isn't in this.

In the Loop is supposed the be brilliant, it was written by Armando Iannucci so I'd say that's likely to be accurate

Zombieland - Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn't have fears. If he did, he'd kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, theyre about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Made me angry. Wanted to walk out like 5 times. Pointless piece of shit movie with horrible unlikeable/undeveloped characters. |

Some movies have been announced for the approaching festival season, my interest lies more in the talent involved than the actual stories themselves.
Enter the Void - New Gaspar Noe film. Life During Wartime - Todd Solondz Broken Embraces - Pedro Almodovar Leaves of Grass. An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord. Edward Norton plays both twins. |

A Serious Man - One of the Ceons most underrated. Really really good flick
Antichrist - great body horror flick. Probably my favorite Lars Von Trier movie. At least top 3. Bruno - completely unrewatchable but i pissed myself laughing the first time i saw it Funny People - the beginning of the fall in Judd Apatow for me. Also its why Sandler wasnt in Inglorious Basterds and that always bums me out Inglorious Basterds - my favorite Tarantino picture. One of my very favorite films. Shutter Island - fine. Neither dicaprios nor Scorseses best. Up- 2nd favorite pixar film only behind WallE. (500) days of summer- really sweet film. I like it a ton. The female lead is lovely Zombieland - the sequel is rubbish but the first one is a really fun outing. I love zombie films and at this time a zombie comedy was a real novel idea. Final destination 4- the worst in the series. By a lot. |
