Charlie Dempsey and Harlem Lewis had a great match in NOAH. Charlie lets more and more emotion creep into his matches as his body movements get more and more broad as fatigue sets in. He did a great job drawing people in.
Harlem Lewis has got real star potential. He’s got a big guy presence even though he’s not that big for a wrestler. He was able to do all the chain-wrestling spots. He wore frustration on his face well. Dempsey was going after his arm so when he got frustrated he took some shots at Dempsey’s and he put him in the corner facing out to hit some clotheslines from behind. I like little psychologically heel things like that. Definitely worth a watch if you can track it down. |

SmackDown was pretty good. I’ve been digging Aleister Black’s work. He’s put all the tools together. Everything seems to work with him right now.
Damian Priest’s connection with the crowd is jeopardized by how his matches are planned out. He seems to always end up in these predicaments where fans want him to do something, but because he’s playing this stoic badass who has the next spot planned, there isn’t room to do anything organic. He should just destroy some fools for a few weeks and when fans chant “One more time!” after he Chokeslams them, he should actually do it. Then they’ll accept him as one of their guys. SPOILER: show |

For Cena's last match is it looking to be Bron or Gunther?

I’ve been enjoying Trick Williams lately. He’s become a polished act and one of the best promos in wrestling. I’d be ok with Cena vs. Tricky William. It should just come down to who Cena wants.

I didn’t like SmackDown this past week. Ilja doing the “it’s nothing personal” spot was cool, but the Nathan Frazer match didn’t resonate with me. Smackers just feels dry.
Raw was good. Whenever Rey and Dom interact it’s magic. Rusev is still great. I’m looking forward to Shinsuke/Sheamus. Got the feeling we might get Los Americanos vs. Lucha Bros too. LOVE JD McDonagh’s work. He’s a little dynamo. Adds some great little details to things. Love that CM Punk shouts him out. JD McDonagh vs. Chad Gable pls. NXT is always a good show, but this week’s didn’t really pop for me. One of the softer entries. I’m glad Ethan Page & Chelsea Green are a thing. |

Smackdown was much better this week. Aleister Black is a fantastic professional wrestler. My complaint with him back in the day was that he did too many flips and they didn’t seem to fit him. Now he works a style where he’s studying his opponents and getting in front of them a lot. His timing on shit is phenomenal. It’s great to see talent get back from AEW frustrated and really applying themselves to the details of what often goes missed.
Rusev has been great too. He’s always so committed to everything he does. Ilja Dragunov always amazes me in the ring. Everything he does seems so organic. I’m not a big fan of him wrestling the SmackDown mid-carders, but I guess they are building up things for him to do. I like the NXT crossovers. With NXT still having a Peacock presence, it makes sense. It will help NXT and keep SmackDown fresh. |

Raw was “good shit, pal” this week. A nice time of year to hot-shot it a bit. Cena’s final appearances will get a lot of attention. Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus, Rusev and Dom are all fantastic. I’m pumped for Je’Von Evans vs. Gunther next week.
Smart of them to boost NXT during all this with the crossovers, the tournament and SNME. Especially since NXT is going to be more pivotal in the WWE/NBC Universal relationship with the Peacock specials. |

Do not agree with the decision to have Cena lose.
At the same time not so angry about it that I want Triple H fired into the sun. |

To create a happy moment/ending for a man they call the GOAT
Because Gunther gains very little from it and could have easily taken the loss and it wouldn't have mattered in the long run. If you did want to put someone over put over someone who isn't already over in their spot, and someone with more long term potential as a top guy. |

It does nothing for anyone including Cena to have him go over and beating "the goat" in his final match absolutely does something for Gunther. The only thing you get out of Cena winning is you make him look like an egomaniac who actively hates the business and everyone whos ever been in it.

I agree with Destor.
The only change I would have done is do this tournament earlier and therefore build a program up with Gunther and Cena. Make it mean a more then just one match. |

It would do something for Gunther if he was still an unstoppable beast but he has lost plenty including tapping in seconds to Jey Uso. Also with kayfabe being ripped apart these days, all his heat went to Triple H as the booker.
It does nothing for Cena to win either, true. It's just what people want to see, and it would have been harmless. |

And yes, I realize it is ironic to say the issue is kayfabe is dead and then bring up him tapping out in a match.
The point is we are in a weird age where wins and losses don't really matter (unless you are on a multi-year win streak), so eating a loss isn't important. My issue is also I guess with Gunther... he's fantastic in the ring, but end of day he just isn't a main event guy due to his lack of mic ability. He's a B plus player. As stated, I wouldn't care as much if it was Cena putting over someone else.... but Gunther... he doesn't need it, and he could take the loss |

Triple H has been trying to bury Cena since Wrestlemania 22, and he finally was able to do it.
Cena losing was always the right choice, but tapping out was just dumb, especially to a Sleeper. Just have him pass out, it is a fucking SLEEPER hold lol. |
