Capcom recently teased that their upcoming Resident Evil Village game for next gen consoles could potentially arrive for current gen consoles some time afterwards.

Meanwhile Capcom is rumored to have recently run into major issues with the game's development. Supposedly development for the PC and Xbox Series X versions have been okay but the PS5 version has been plagued with issues to the point they might have to remove stuff planned for the game in order to make the PS5 version playable.

"While Resident Evil Village is being developed specifically for next-generation consoles and PC, we're looking into delivering the experience on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well," said a Capcom producer during the stream. "We're looking into it but we can't make any promises, however we will do our best to bring a top-tier survival horror experience to current-generation consoles" ...

Interestingly, Capcom rumour merchant DuskGolem - who has a track record of being accurate on all matters Resident Evil Village - has recently suggested that the RE development team were encountering issues in the production of the new title, running into various technical snafus due to the infancy of PS5 and Xbox Series X hardware. It should be clearly clarified that this was merely a rumour, albeit one from a recognised source.
