Why is Smackdown rated higher than AEW? Because it's on Fox which is a network meaning available via antenna so people who don't pay for cable can watch the channel for free. USA and TNT are cable channels meaning you have to pay a cable company to watch the channel. That's also why Smackdown is rated higher than Raw.

Raw is the flagship show in all of pro wrestling to the majority of fans in my expert opinion. It has been on cable for nearly 30 years. WWE has been the top wrestling promotion in the US and the World for nearly 40 years. The brand recognition is obvious. The majority of fans on this forum and online have been begging for a new company to take 2nd place to WWE. Nobody in their right mind could ever expect within a couple of years for WWE to be losing ratings to a new company. But in many ways AEW has superceded all expectation of a new company. They have a years long tv rights deal that has them financially set to the point they can operate without fans and still pay top tier talent. They have more PPV buyers than any wrestling company in the world. And every Wednesday night for the past year with the exception of two or three they have soundly defeated WWE programing.

Whatever your disdain for flip flop and fly or a different style of booking... Whatever your issue is you really don't make any productive points on it. It would be make the board much more interesting if you could actually take the time to put out well thought out critique or talking points.
Not trolling the actual ratings.

100% real question is why is it alright to brag about AEW getting 700,000 viewers, but Smackdown triples that and it is diminished and excused, as you just did?

I don't care one bit about ratings, but if 700,000 is cause for celebration and bragging, then 2.1 million cannot be glossed over just because it's not AEW.

Also, they do not have more pay per view buys. WWE Network has what, 1.5 million paid subscribers? That's another case where you are framing success based on a tiny piece of data that does not represent the full story.

100,000 people bought and watched All Out. 1.5 million people are purchasing and watching WWE Network each month, which includes their PPVs. Just because WWE isn't selling PPVs through cable companies doesn't mean AEW has a bigger fanbase.

Just like a show being on Fox vs TNT doesn't mean AEW is doing better with less viewers. It is such a skewed way to interpret it.
