US TV has twice as many ad breaks as UK TV so it's a TV standards regulated issue. When it comes to live shows I'm pretty sure (at least this is what they used to do) Sky Sports gets around it by running less commercials than usual per ad break and just throwing up the WWE logo until they come back on, which is basically dead air.
