The last two definitions you are referring to have the same meaning, but the dictionary YOU YOURSELF suggested broke down the usage as an adjective and as a singular noun.

"Something very popular among a particular group of people"

AEW is very popular among a particular group of people, who are too stubborn or too stupid to admit everything about AEW is NOT the second coming of Jesus.

There are fans of wrestling that more or less enjoy AEW (such as myself), and then there are "Cultist" who figuratively blow AEW no matter what, and lose their shit when someone else criticizes their love interest.

If AEW closed tomorrow, a fan would say "damn, oh well". A "Cultist" would cry themselves to sleep.

Seriously, how the fuck do you suggest the specific dictionary, then disagree with what that dictionary says? You are some kind of special.
The dictionary is correct. Your comprehension of the information provided to you is not. You are not using the word correctly in this context. Try again. Check definition #1 for reference. That's 25% of the definition by the way. 1/4.
