In the recent issue of the Official Playstaion Magazine, Naughty Dog revealed some new details for The Last of Us game with the main stuff involving limited ammo and the game not being an open world type game.

In terms of the game's space, the game is less linear than the Uncharted series but not truly an open world style game. Maps and levels are a bit linear in design but do offer optional paths and areas to explore for weapons and items.

Ammo for weapons appears to be using the classic Resident Evil method of being in very short supply which also removes shootouts from being possible. There is a scavenger system set up to find more ammo but Naughty Dog did not reveal how it works.

There are escort-like moments in the game but won't be done in an obvious way like other games which could be both a good and bad thing based on the situation.

-Not as linear as the Uncharted games but not open world, you can choose to go into places such as a coffee shop, but its optional

-Ammo is in short supply, so don’t expect shootouts like in Uncharted.

-There will be situations where you have to help your partner, but not in an obvious way.
