John Pollock had an good viewpoint about AEW's use of factions during last night's Review-A-Dynamite episode and why its similar to NJPW's usage of them.

Its both the best way to feature as many people on tv as possible, especially when you have a large roster like AEW, and also helps keep the more important singles matches for feuds fresh and special.

A lot different than how WWE does it with them wanting only the same few people showing up each week and have them constantly wrestle each other in singles matches or tag matches if its a tag feud. End result for them is feuds that start to become stale quickly and PPV matches feeling less special.
