WWE NXT - June 8, 2010
Momentum

With just 1 week to go until the NXT Season 1 Finale, finalists Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett would see similar action as compared to last week - two matches in one night. Each man would face their opponent's WWE Pro, followed afterward by a tag team match.

Matt Hardy def. Wade Barrett
Wade Barrett continued to be the offensive brute that he'd been throughout the duration of NXT, pulverizing Hardy. However, he clearly had some extra cockiness rub off on him from his WWE Pro, as Matt Hardy kicked Barrett in the gut while he was showboating, leading to a Twist of Fate and a win for Hardy.

Justin Gabriel def. Chris Jericho
Nearly two months ago, the world was shocked when NXT Rookie Heath Slater pinned then-World Heavyweight champion Chris Jericho in the middle of the ring. Jericho was deeply disturbed by it, and certainly he didn't think it would happen again. Yet, it has, and in an all-too familiar fashion. Both men countered each other move-for-move until Gabriel caught Jericho in a sudden roll-up for the victory. Jericho brutally attacked Gabriel after the bell, weakening him for the upcoming main event.

Justin Gabriel & Matt Hardy def. Wade Barrett & Chris Jericho
With Gabriel being battered from the Chris Jericho beatdown, Matt Hardy had to work most of the match solo. Barrett and Jericho took turns wearing down Hardy for most of the match, before Justin Gabriel bravely slapped Hardy on the back, tagging himself into the match. Gabriel showed an incredible amount of guts, taking both opponents by surprise. Hardy recovered well enough to throw Jericho out of the ring as Gabriel picked up the win for his team following the 450 Splash. If Gabriel pins Barrett next week, he will be the inaugural victor of NXT!

With Gabriel and his Pro going 3-0 on the night, they will ride a huge wave of momentum headed into the final. It's Wade Barrett vs. Justin Gabriel in the NXT Finale next week. You don't wanna miss it!
