Marvel Movie General Update:

No pics, links, or vids; just what I know in the realm of Marvel Movies so far along with some commentary on DC's lazy asses.

Iron-Man kicked all manner of ass in the weeks since it debuted on the big screen. Talk of Iron-Man 2 is already a-buzz, with a set date already laid out by Marvel Studios (April 30th 2010)! The director of the first is expected to return for the second, with most of the highly well recieved cast also coming back. Early story reports all point to the debut of War Machine, and more tie-ins to the Marvel Movie-verse and the long awaited Avengers project.

The Hulk is out now so go see it for a rather contrasting take on the Hulk after Ang Lee's film. Spoiler: The final shot leaves Banner in a rather vague moral standing that will make his involvment in the rest of the Movie-verse rather interesting. Could the Animated Ultimate Avengers story be closer to the live action than imagined, with Hulk being one of the issue the super-team will have to contend with? An exciting premise as the Avengers nears with its 2011 release.

Thor will be the wild card in the current Movie-verse of things. While Marvel studios is pushing a one universe deal, its fairly easy to imagine the Hulk in Iron-Man's world. But with all the talk of Thor taking place in Asgard, with a highly visual concept similar to 300, where would he fit in with the movie-verse. That would be an interesting task, but I'm all for Brad Pitt as Thor. His charisma in the face of other big names would make an interesting dynamic once everyone buddies up.

Wolverine is still filming, infact a scene where Logan and Creed (Sabretooth) lead soldiers on the D-Day landing(!) was filmed not long ago. It doesn't seem like there's much effort to combine Wolverine with the forming Marvel Movie-verse, as he is essentially coming off the Singer-verse of X-Men movies. It would solve a number of continuity issues if a name drop were to be added here and there, integrating (atleast) Logan into the Movie-verse. His solo film itself promises some big Marvel names that could benefit from a little rub off in 'the big picture'. I'd cream my pants for a shot of Captain America in the background of that D-Day scene, even in a vague shadow.

Speaking of Steve Rogers, it seems his movie will precede the Avengers project rather obviously, with the film's title being "Captain America: The First Avenger". Not too hot on the casting choice that's been floating around, but it isn't final so we'll see. His casting is important, as it was once believed for Brandon Routh in JLA, he'd be a main player in the Avengers movie.

And on that DC note... what the Hell? Ever since Marvel went studio and took more hold of their characters they've been on the grind. DC only ever works with one studio (WB), so technically they should've been on that level of exposure lone ago (on the animated side they have been however). We got The Dark Knight coming and... what... Watchmen? That's just barely DC, however cool the story is by itself. Where's Super Max? Where's Teen Titans? Get to work!
