Yeah they took some risks and I appreciate that. They mostly didn't work though. Jumping from Ellie to Abby and back was annoying. We were invested in Ellie/Joel from the first game so.....why....?

The stakes were way too low. Part 1 was about getting Ellie across the country to help find a cure. This was about......revenge. OK. Seems like a Walking Dead storyline where they've run out of things so we spend a season doing "how the world currently works" which is fine as I love character building but jumping back and forth between protagonists defeated the purpose.

I dunno. The game play itself was fine as it was more of part 1 which was great. Just don't feel very satisfied or rewarded after playing through.
