There are reasons to think this was a plan from the start. Rock dropping the line on the Raw with Jinder predates Cody winning the Rumble. Why do that line if there isn’t a plan for Rock to work?

The Cody/Rock SmackDown thing is the only thing that doesn’t really fit that. Cody did give him the shot. But if they did that for effect KNOWING the backlash it would cause? Pretty smart.

They probably went into it with a Plan A, Plan B, etc. If Rock/Roman caused world peace, they’d have run with that. But I don’t think they were as caught off by this reaction as some people think. They teased all the potential things they could do, and Heel Rock with Roman won out.

Rock’s subtle heel invitations during the press conference were amazing. He’s so good at fostering the crowd reaction he wants.
