DiBiase is ready to take the title and celebrate with it but the music of the Raw GM hits and sure enough, here comes Stone Cold Steve Austin. Looks like he's got something to say. "First things first, I want to offer a congratulations to Ted DiBiase on his victory here. He survived the championship chase and put up one hell of an effort here tonight. I also would like to apologize. I'd like to apologize to a lot of people actually. I'm sorry to the fans here in attendance, to the fans watching all over in their homes. I want to apologize to the announcers and to the WWE itself. And I especially want to apologize to you, Ted. You see, apparently I was misunderstood in regards to this championship chase. When I put this chase together after I vacated the title, I never said the winner of the chase would become the United States champion. It was simply a chase for the United States title. So, unfortunately Ted, even though you are the winner you are not the United States Champion. However, you have earned the right to wrestle for the title and since this is Night of Champions and every title is supposed to be defended here, you're getting that opportunity right now against....this man."

He was the third draft pick for Raw last month and he's making his return from injury and he looks 100% and ready to go. He slides into the ring as DiBiase yells in protest.
