Nothing official about his departure. Rumors suggest he is negotiating a buyout. Nick Hausman didn’t ask him (or his “camp”) specifically about this, but got the impression that he won’t be going back and has barely talked to AEW.

Dave Meltzer will tell you that it’s CM Punk. Colt Cabana being back and the company bringing back The Elite tells you that Punk kept Cabana off TV and The Elite didn’t do anything wrong. CM Punk negotiating a multi-million dollar buyout means he’s guilty.

Talent like Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy have been very vocal about not wanting Punk back and shovel the blame onto him too.

The Punk’s side has been quieter/doesn’t have any power in the company. I don’t believe the Elite side worth a shit. I mean, you can just read how illogical Dave’s conclusions are. Colt Cabana has been with the company and barely used since the beginning, and an investigation wasn’t necessarily ethical (Dave himself has said Lucy Guy, a witness to the incident, was not even questioned). The results of the investigation haven’t been made public either. They could have found Punk’s response proportionate and The Elite at fault, but Punk wants out and The Elite don’t.

Short story: The Elite are bullying/manipulating fuckheads that made Punk’s job hard, he cracked, lashed out — Punk’s probably the lesser evil but AEW is going to go with The Elite.
