Leicester have unveiled Craig Levein as their new manager.
Levein quit Hearts earlier on Friday after both clubs agreed a compensation package for his move south.
The former Scottish international replaces Micky Adams at The Walkers Stadium following his departure earlier this month.
Levein revealed it was a wrench to leave Hearts, but that it has always been his ambition to manage in England.
"Leaving Hearts was very difficult, but it was not a difficult decision," Levein said.
"The decision came about through my own ambition to manage in England and ultimately to manage in The Premiership.
"It was hard to say goodbye to some good friends and people I enjoyed working with immensely, and particularly the players who gave me the opportunity to join such a fantastic club as Leicester.
"For a year or so now, I've been looking. And I realised to get to the English Premiership, where I wanted to be, it would be difficult to do that from a provincial club which Hearts are.
"I've been looking for a club with the same ambition as I have, and the recent history of Leicester would dictate that they are a Premiership club.
"I'm very confident that we match each other's ambition and we can move forward together."
Levein also revealed he is looking to bring in a new number two with experience of English football, as well as his assistant Peter Houston from Hearts.
"Peter Houston will join me in some capacity and I have someone in mind as my number two and I working on that right now.
"I want an assistant that knows a lot about The Championship and English football and in general, people who know more than me."

I don't know anything about the guy, or whether he's any good, but the FoxFanzine.com posters seem to be happy about it, but thats probably just because that means no more Harry or Wilko.
