That only happened due to a combo of the big sums of money the government gave to prevent massive layoffs during the pandemic and consumers spending more on gaming and less elsewhere for their entertainment.
Even the retro gaming industry got hit hard once things started to go back to normal with people cutting back on the massive spending for old games and consoles and flooding the market with them getting rid of that stuff.

Yeah I kind of get that, it's something of a "correction" to get back to how things were. But man. You'd think that these multi-billion dollar companies would be able to figure out ways to make things work and not ruin hundreds of lives.
