CM Punk had the option of coming in on the ground. He chose to snub his nose when AEW was not a sure thing in his mind. He went to WWE Backstage. Then he waits until the new car smell is gone to come in and make a splash? Difference in wrestling philosophies aside — and young talent should be able to learn — Punk coming in with top pay and the weight to disrupt the vision of The Elite must have been very confronting to them.
Now, as wrestling fans, does this attitude of The Elite help us? Not really. Not unless you like crappy wrestling. But I can understand why they might feel like the wronged parties. They had their party pissed on by a big dog. They want this to be their story.

They had a deal in place for a while but they were never going to debut Punk during the pandemic in an empty Daily's Place. No pandemic and Punk was probably there a year or more sooner than he was.
