Just wrapped Dexter: New Blood. Pretty solid but not as good as I'd hoped. Better than s5 and onward but a far cry from s1, 2 and 4.
the show loses something with dexter not working crime scenes. I hadnt fully appreciated that aspect until it was lost. Not that it ruins the show or anything.
Once you can look back and see this season as an epilog it makes more sense but to get to its ending it has to double down on the weakest part of the original run: Dexter the Dad. Again to get to its ending it has to but 10 ep run is mostly dealing with Dexter from that angle and rarely from the seriel killer angle and nearly never from Dexter the blood splatter analyst.
It is a much better ending for the character than the original final season. Dexter always needed to die for poetic justices sake and he finally meets a fitting end. Having Harrison do it works. I do wish Batista had been more involved. Maybe cracking the Bay Harbor Butcher case in a larger way. I dunno.
It was pretty solid all in all. Perhaps the 4th or 5th best season. Cant decide if its better than season 3 or not but its up there.
