Ethan is getting a rub because he's MJF's buddy in real life. Page and MJF are actually almost the same person/character. There is very little that is different between them as performers, except that MJF is probably just a bit better, maybe not in the ring but as a character 100%.

I think MJF probably made sure that Ethan got a rub and a push as apart of his negotiations with Tony. It does seem that they are turning MJF face, and elevating Ethan to a top heel position. I just wonder if Ethan would be able to be WORSE a heel than MJF. It could be an interesting story if they can really get Ethan to a level where fans see him as an event bigger piece of shit than MJF ever was as a heel.
Yeah the tournament bracket is incredibly easy to figure out as constructed.

I worry that large segments of the AEW crowd aren't mentally prepared for the reality of Page beating Eddie. Everyone is hung up on the idea of Eddie finally winning the big one and, truth is, if he ever actually does win it I'd assume he's dropping it back instantly. The whole thing with him is the chase will probably always be his story. So that makes him an easy foil for a heel in a tourney like this.

Page will then go over Bandido, still an unknown commodity to some of the AEW fanbase. Not much to say there, would probably be a solid showing for both. Could even have a sub-plot where Bandido says if he wins the tourney, he'd use it on the ROH Title instead. But we know he won't win.

And then Page goes over one more popular face in Starks, another guy fans are ready to see go to the "next level". Starks, at least, will have some protection in defeat because a big part of his journey would be that he had to go through 2 wars against big dudes Archer and Cage to get there, making him slightly easier pickings for Page.

I think much of the fans online believe Page has been underutilized and deserves a push. And so maybe the thinking is the best way to ensure he actually gets heel heat is to put him over 2 incredibly popular guys in Eddie and Starks. It'll get him heat sure, but will the heat be for Page or will it be for the office?
