I’m a fan of Bret’s. I don’t even think of him as bitter. It’s a reductive way of avoiding his criticisms of wrestling, as it is with Punk — or anyone dismissed with it. But he really needs to back off on Goldberg imo. Was Goldberg the most pristine worker in 1999? No. But he is one of wrestling’s few megastars. He’s put the asses in the seats and is still an attraction to this day.

Owen broke someone’s neck in the ring. Austin broke someone’s neck in the ring. Goldberg fucked up a spot. It sucks. But the crusade against him 25 years later is a bit much.
