The worked shoot made it look like things were working out between MJF and AEW, but it was actually a really terrible idea for an angle. There being no follow-up makes me think, increasingly so, that it was possibly just a “best foot forward” kind of thing. Let’s put it out there, create a buzz, get it on our TV instead of it being a backstage rumor, etc. Plus it has kind of cooled the whole “what is MJF going to do?” thing off. If that was the plan launched internally from AEW, it’s kind of sly.

It would not surprise me to see Triple H buy out MJF’s contract at this point.
