Thor: Love and Thunder - 3 stars out of 4
Really wanted to give this half a star. I'm not a fan of Taika Waititi's comedic take on Thor and I was upset with so little Sif and how they kind of did her dirty. Consequently I have to put up with this boring version of Valkyrie. And boy, is it even stupider than Multiverse of Madness, especially with the climax.
However, it's just gorgeous to look at and well put together. Gorr is a great antagonist. His motivations are clear and understandable and Bale injects him with the right amount of creepy and heart, and when you see how one particular character carries themselves you kind of find yourself going, "Wait, for whom am I supposed to be pulling here?" The action rocks along with the soundtrack and ultimately it's pulled together by the relationship between Thor and Jane.
There are a few moments that get ruined by some ridiculous aspects especially with two particular additions to the crew and YOU'LL KNOW what I'm talking about when you see it. Overall, it pained me in certain ways but it made up for it in others. A mid-credits scene sets up an arrival and calls back to a previous set piece. The post-credits scene is merely a nice follow-through for one of the characters. Saying anything more would be spoiling things. Bottom line, I think you'll have fun with it.
