Is it drawing interest? The people I hear talking about it were the same people talking about MJF before any of this started. The wrestling bubble convinces itself that it’s so much bigger than it is. That’s what an echo chamber does.
Marks don’t really care about a disgruntled employee…well, being an employee. This isn’t Austin/Vince. And I don’t think casual fans care to walk that line between work/shoot that much. Vince Russo would gamble on this too. They just want to see believable/credible things happening. There is a difference, although I’m sure some dunderheads on here (not you) will try and split hairs between them.
MJF was already believable. This is just taking the real issues and it’s going to get too close to blurring the lines to be interesting. The drama of something being a shoot goes right out the window when it is clear it is a work. The MJF/Tony Khan issues are not transferable to Dynamite.
IF they’ve cottoned on to MJF being their best asset. And IF they’ve cottoned on to their backstage drama being more interesting than their pro-wrestling content, then more power to them. But I don’t think it’s going to go the way people think it will. I don’t have any faith in AEW.
