Lee & Swerve turned out to be massive busts, didn’t they? Just misused in the WWE, I’m sure.
MJF wants to be a star. AEW got off to a false start and the place that is going to give him the best exposure is WWE. Cody has got a foot in the door and is proving that the WWE will use talent that have got something special to offer.
His deal isn’t up until 2024, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this talk about going is designed to twist Tony’s arm into releasing him. TK can’t book MJF into a hole, because he’s too good. That would also look petty from the company’s perspective. But he can’t exactly use MJF on top knowing that he’s going to go to the WWE, right?
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if MJF gets squashed by Wardlow at Double or Nothing and that’s the last we see of MJF for a couple of months.
FOX is airing the SuperBowl next February. WWE has got a reasonable shot at getting a slot on directly after it. That’s a 100 million viewer lead-in. If that thing goes down, I guarantee MJF wants to be on it. I can very easily see Roman/Rock and Cody/MJF as two big matches for Mania next year.
