To begin HOW FUCKING GOOD IS SAM RAMI HERE? He's seriously at top for form
he's not doing those unforgettable Donner-esqu iconic shots from Spider-man but instead goes FULL Evil Dead in all the best ways.
The action is great too. so imaginative. the music sequence where the music becomes diegetic and they then fight with it...phenomenal. i love it SO MUCH.
The film itself is really good throughout. being able to take a narrative thats as much about Wanda as it is Strange and to connect the themes so succinctly where these two plots weave into one another into one cohesive message insomuch that at its conclusion its not an A plot and a B plot...its no small feat. really strong writting. very impressive.
the fan service sequence. if i wasnt popping for Richards and Black Bolt the fucking X-Men TAS OST hits and my brain melts. so good.
My hopes Wanda will bring mutants into existence seems dashed on the rocks but this does mark the 1st mutant in the MCU so...baby steps.
As far as Mr.Fanstic goes i dont think this is a disservice to him. Wanda is way out of his power level with out any prep. He shoul get smoked. Also if we explore his powers too much now it hurts the stand alone film. better to explore it later. they do a great job showing a world that had a Reed Richards instead of a Tony Stark. there's a ton to be said about the nature of that dimension.
Great to see Black Bolt done accurately..
Fun film. goes in angles the mcu has yet to go with the light horror elements. i had a great time watching Rami be ridiculous.
