Failing that he could have just said the bit about he picked the wrong one. That’s humility. It’s the “everybody else got it wrong too” bit that he whiffs on, there’s no need for it. In fact by pointing that out even if it is true he’s actively diminishing his responsibility for it. Therefore he gets no credit for trying - and ultimately failing - to be humble.
I can agree with that. If he was adamant about making it clear he was given ideas, saying “I was told by a 30 year vet to do this, but it’s ultimately my decision and I decided that was the best option and I was wrong “ would’ve been a better way to word it.
