This is true. They will focus on archaic demos that work for them and ignore demos that don’t. They will ignore the stigma of wrestling, the global appeal of one product over another, and its content rating and how that affects ad rates. It’s Meltzer talk so he always had something for his newsletter on slow news weeks, and was largely used to trash WWE to sell those letters to disgruntled WWE fans — the ones you will find angry online looking to buy content outside WWE’s purview.
He’s carried the narrative into AEW, ignoring that their audience is largely going to age out of the “desirable” 18-49 demo by the time TV contract negotiations are through, and to focus on ways he can twist AEW into being a success when it’s just not as popular as the other product. Period.
