I think that’s off the mark. Fans of any TV show want compelling writing and stars. It’s an easy excuse to say that fans were lost to MMA (which many would argue is a completely different market) and because the show is PG.

It’s because they write bad television consistently and have no stars.

People don’t generally watch wrestling for the wrestling. They watch it for the stories and the special moments, which WWE choose to give you once a year.

If anything, they, along with AEW, are making a product specifically for the fans of sweaty shirtless guys grappling, because they don’t offer anything else beyond the wrestling.
